grodtAs someone pointed out, we now only have Alex Mack to show from the Sanchez trade (and the trade that netted the Bucs Josh Freeman for that matter)

Mangini's draft set this team back. Imagine where this team might be with 3-4 starters from those first four (1st & 2nd round) picks along with Heckert's draft last year? That still pisses me off.
Mack is a stud but you CAN'T whiff on your three 2nd rounders (MoMass, Robo & Veikune) like that. Massaquoi & Robiskie are serviceable but they were reaches. -
SportsAndLadyI think Mass and Robo will be fine, they just need a WR or two to come in and be the priority targets.
-
BR1986FBThey will be ok as possession receivers and may thrive in the WCO but Mangini still selected them too high when there were better players on the board. I think Robiskie, who is known for his precise route running, could really do well as a #3. I expect to see a TON of 4 receiver sets out of this team after what we saw GB do to Pittsburgh.
-
SportsAndLadyYeah I mean i'm not saying I'm necessarily happy about those 2 picks, but I still won't give up on them yet. Give them 2 years and a big time receiver on this team, and if they're still unproductive, trash.
-
OQBMass and Robo didn't even have that good of a receiver coach their first few years in the league....Mangini hired a guy out of Minnesotta (gophers that is) he had no NFL experience and you could tell by the product (Mass and Robo) he put on the field. With a legit WR coach who knows how to coach NFL players and the change to the WCO....I can see both of these young guys stepping up and producing for us as possession receivers. With the hiring of Mike Williams (new WR coach), these two should be in good hands.
We still need that #1 guy though. -

+1 man. mangini set this team back with that shitty ass draft he had. we could have two stud linebackers in clay mathews and ray magulgua and phil loadholt the rt for the vikings. -
Commander of Awesomelets not forget they had dumboll calling plays. I think MoMass with a real OC can be a good #2, and robo coming out was supposed to be polished and a great slot guy. Still need a #1 though to make it all work. The Rams had a bunch of nobodies with a rookie QB so I'm anxious to see what Shurmur can do with them.

I still get pissed about the Veikune over Loadholt selection. Worst pick ever. I went to camp Veikune's rookie yr and said after two practices that guy needs to be cut. He was completely lost, slow, etc.... -
OQBWe should probably not talk about that draft....a lot of anger will come out in people. One of the worst drafts ever!
-
OQBDoes anyone know what's going on with that wr we drafted last year from south Florida....I think his name is Mitchell, will he be a contributer this season?

He had a few nagging injuries and saw some ST action late in the year. He has tools and need to learn how to use them. Is a #1 type (size and speed) but is a major project. -
shook_17hahaha i get pissed every time i think about that draft. but mitchell is a big time project. he has the body and speed to be a number one but he has some stone hands. looks like we won't be getting aj green this year with all the massive cuts with the browns today. looks like d line. hopefully fairly falls to us now after rogers being cut.
-
SonofanumpShaun Rogers, Eric Barton, father time David Bowens, Kenyon Coleman, John St. Clair, Robert Royal released.
All over 30. -

Read a mock draft that had Da'Quan Bowers dropping to us. Although I think he will over take Fairley for the projected #1 as the combine/team interviews take place. -
sleeperI'm surprised we couldn't get a draft pick for Rogers.
-
Commander of AwesomeContract was too big, and no production last season.
-
OQBI knew Mitchell was going to be a project when we drafted him, I was just curious as to how he has progressed this year....obviously not much with the receiving coach we had.
I'm still going back and forth with our first pick this year....After the national championship game, I thought wow what a great addition to add Fairley to the Browns and the AFC North for that matter, where good hard nosed defense will win you some games. But then you have Bowers who is a great pass rusher on the edge and could also have a big impact on the team this year. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm set on them drafting a D-lineman....whether it be a DT or DE is the thing we will be debating from here on out. Even if Green would fall to us I still say we would take a DL. -
shook_17who has more bust potential quinn or bowers?
-
OQBThat is a very good question, and I am not sure I know the answer to that. We can't afford another Courtney Brown!
I will say this, although Fairley is 2 years older than Bowers....they are both considered juniors that are eligible for the draft, but does their age make it a tougher decision? It's only 2 years but that is 2 more years he could be productive and a force in the league. Would you rather have a 30 year old Fairley or a 28 year old Bowers in 7 years?
Fairley:
DT
Age=23 (1-23-1988)
6'5" 300
Played in SEC for 2 seasons
Won National Championship
Bowers:
DE
Age=21 (2-23-1990)
6'4" 275
Played in ACC for 3 seasons
After looking at that I think Bowers did more with less (around him). The SEC is full of talent and Fairley definately had the better talent to play with. But Fairley was a force playing in the SEC which also says something about him. Bowers most likely is the faster of the two, but after watching the championship game....Fairley can play with speed. I think both are very good football players and could help the Browns improve A LOT! We saw how good the secondary and pass defense got with the addition of Haden, Let's hope with the addition of a top D-lineman our run defense AND getting pressure on the QB will improve with this 6th pick in the draft. -
shook_17with the departure of rogers i would really like to see fairly fall to us. the attempt to aquire mathsis kewaunki (sp) the d end from the giants. then maybe baldwin or young both wide reicevers would look good in orange and brown. they were talking young up as a desean jackson type player.
-
OQBI really like both of those receivers from Boise...Titus Young 5'11" 175 and Austin Pettis 6'2" 205 great hands and great route runners. Would love to pick one of those guys...or the reciever from Oregon. I agree if we can get Fairley, that would help our defense tremendously....he plays with attitude (some say he is dirty) but I like it and we can give that attitude back to the Steelers...
I think all of us Browns fans need to be praying that the CBA gets agreed on, because we could really improve this team through Free Agency, but if it doesn't get done all we have is the draft. -
OQBHere is what I think we should draft....by position
Rounds:
1- DL
2- WR
3- LB
4- DL
5- LB
6- OL
7- DB
I think we can get a good veteran WR and OL in free agency, but we really need to focus on the front 7, right side of the line, and our WR's in this draft. The old front 7 were old, and we just released quite a bit from that group. -
DeyDurkie5I like the DE call, but if Green falls to us I am taking him.

I'll give you the Clay Matthews selection but Maualuga is NOT a "stud linebacker." I was also pissed at Veikune over Loadholt but after watching Loadholt's performance, dude just isn't as good as I thought he'd be. Maualuga "disappears" in games.
