Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors
-
devil1197Haven't seen anything on the Okafur/Collison thing, I don't know why NOR would dump Collison now since they are under the luxury tax with the Mo Pete trade (correct??)
I don't see Ray coming to Cleveland either way with or without LeBron. -
devil1197I know I am jumping ahead, but I could see Cleveland making a small deal (using Shaq S/T) to bring in a quality player like Haywood to get the ball rolling. Although Haywood would have to okay it.
Even if LeBron does go somewhere else, its not a move that will hurt the team imo. -
NonI'll weigh in and say LeBron stays.
He's going to play out the drama but ultimately he can't leave.
He'll be too much of a failure for giving up on the quest to win a championship in Cleveland. -
devil1197Windy:
The Cavs obviously will have interest in Chris Bosh & Amare' Stoudemire, but likely would not get serious unless they re-sign LeBron. -
devil1197Per Amick:
Byron Scott and the Cavs have agreed to "essential terms, with details to be worked out throughout the night," according to his agent. -
like_thatI just can't see the cavs getting lebron and bosh. There are too many teams out there that have more to offer. Hope i am wrong though, I just think there is wayyyy too much wishful thinking here.
-
devil1197Amick:
More from McInerney: “The presentation was very aggressive and didn’t require hours of negotiation.” -
NonWow.
Pulled the switcharoo. -

Kinda doesn't matter what the other teams have to offer.
Bosh has to want to go to that team, and hope that the Raptors will sign and trade for them.
If he wants to go to the Cavs, and the Raptors are interested in what the Cavs have, it won't matter what a team like OKC or LA has to offer. -

Doesn't matter if LeBron re-signs with Cleveland all Bosh has to do is want to be traded to Cleveland.
And tell me what teams have more to offer than Cleveland in terms of trades? -

They pulled this hours ago.
It was never a switcharoo, mainly Shaw's side claiming to have the job when no offer was made once again. -
like_thatNot sure. I just figured Bosh would sign with the Bulls or Heat as an unrestricted free agent.

Bosh is a classy guy and wants to help Toronto with a S/T which the Raptors want to do.
He'll wait to see where the big guys fall before choosing. Cleveland becomes a real threat if LeBron signs. -
like_thatI have a feeling LeBron will talk with Bosh before signing with Cleveland.
-
devil1197* The Heat and Cavs expressed immediate interest in center Brendan Haywood, with the interest level from the Cavs described as "very high." Cleveland will need a center to replace free agent Shaquille O'Neal, and a person with knowledge of the negotations said a double sign-and-trade scenario was brewing that would result in the Cavs and Mavs exchanging Haywood for O'Neal. "That's got legs," the person said. Miami, in hot pursuit of one of the elite free-agent power forwards, also is after Haywood as a center to play alongside.

And a S/T is how he gets the most money....so there's that too -

My pipe dream without contract research to see if it all works out, just off the top of my head:
Lebron resigns with Cleveland
Trade: AV, JJ, Moon, Delonte (released after), Telfair (buy-out) for Bosh, Calderon
Trade: S/T Shaq for Brendan Haywood
Sign: Ray Allen
Bring Sasha Kaun from Europe
PG: Williams/Calderon/Gibson
SG: Allen/Parker
SF: James/Green/Williams
PF: Bosh/Jamison/Powe
C: Haywood/Kaun -
hoops23Jawad Williams got the qualifying offer from the Cavs as well... He played some good minutes for us and continues to improve. 6'9'' SF/PF hybrid who can shoot the 3 and put the ball on the floor.
-
devil1197I believe that the Cleveland trade would need more $$$ from our side.
Toronto would send roughly 26-27 million in contracts between Bosh/Calderon.
Cleveland would only be sending roughly 19 million.
If Cleveland wants to take another big contract from Toronto, they would have to deal Mo or Jamison to bring back Calderon.
I'd go with:
AV/JJ /West /Parker or Moon or Telfair/picks for Bosh. -

Yeah I heard that today. He is a solid role player. I forgot him and Powe on my pipe dream depth chart but I fixed it -

Shit I didn't see that Calderon made $9 million. I was basing that off of Windy saying we might have to take on an extra contract and he was the guy named -
devil1197Already some conflicting reports between sources, gotta love it.
Per Marc Stein:
Yes: Brendan Haywood is potential S-and-T piece for Mavs. But Mavs sources insist there is "no chance" he moves in sign-and-trade for Shaq -

True. Not the Cavs pulling it but the media/fanhouse messing it up that Shaw was close to a done deal. -
IggyPride00Rick Bucher just said Toronto has decided they are going to offer Bosh a full max 6 year deal and then start shopping him.
It seems their strategy is going to shop him around for the deal that best helps their team, and then basically tell him he can stay in Toronto and play, or accept to be traded wherever they want to trade him, or he has to walk away from the $30 million extra.
Apparently Toronto's management group is not convinced he is willing to walk away from the extra money under any circumstance, so they seem to be feeling a little emboldened right now. -
sportswizuhrdRockets GM Darryl Morey met with Bosh and made the pitch of:
Bosh w/Rockets = 60 win team.
Wade, Bosh, 1 more max(didnt specify who),9 min(contract wise) players = 45 win team.
^From Chad Ford's twitter. Ford also said that the Rockets could offer the Raptors Aaron Brooks, Jordan Hill, expiring contracts of Jared Jefferies and David Andersen and/or the Knicks future 1st round pick.
That could be what the Cavs are up against. If the Rockets fulfill that trade, they are loaded up front but their backcourt would stink(unless they get Calderon in the deal, they would have 1 PG-Kyle Lowry).
Starting five of....1-Lowry/Calderon...2-Martin/Budinger/Taylor...3-Battier/Ariza...4-Bosh/Hayes/Patterson...5-Yao/Scola
