Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors

  • devil1197
That's pretty new stuff involving Shaq who wasn't in any S/T talks.
  • hoops23
Yeah, Windy was giving lots of info..

Also said the Raptors like what the Cavs have to offer for Bosh, plus we have the assets to make a side deal and take a guy like Calderon off their hands.

All up to LeBron to re-sign and that's the main angle that Gilbert/Grant/Shaw will take.

LeBron, we have the assests to bring in guys once you sign. That MLE becomes much more valuable once you sign.

LeBron probably already knows this and I feel good about the situation.

The Shaq news is very new.
  • hoops23
Yeah, it was popular belief that Shaq would just walk.
  • devil1197
Honestly, any of the major FA's would be a great upgrade especially if we get one via S/T.

The MLE becomes enticing to other FA's who may not be pushing the high $$$ mark.

May have been mentioned on other threads but on WKNR they were mentioning that a reporter out of Miami "claimed" that Lebron reached out to Ray Allen to join him, Bosh & Wade in Miami. Now HOW is THAT gonna work financially?

    ?

Considering Wade and Allen play the same position that doesn't seem likely at all, even if the money did work.

They cannot do three max deals and then add a guy like Allen unless he signs for way less than what he is actually worth.

Allen could get the full MLE from numerous teams which is right around 5+ mil.

These rumors of a massive exodus to Miami is ridiculous. You are telling me that they can add Wade/Bosh/LeBron/Allen and then still have money to fill out their remaining roster spots? Right.

Exactly. Reghi was chuckling when he reported this. Maybe they can bring in Dwight Howard too?

It's hilarious because Miami cannot even sign three max contracts, some of those guys will be losing money down the line.

The S/T news with Shaq just came out, no one heard of this before Windy noted it.

Plus, who is Cleveland going to land in return if they choose to trade with a conference rival?

Why would Shaq want to S&T lol?

If teams, who don't have the cap space and don't want to waste their MLE, are willing to pay for Shaq then a S/T is a good option for him.

I just heard that Boston has interest in Shaq

Possibly but I don't think Cleveland would deal Shaq to a rival conference team.

IMO he'll head out West if he is traded or he'll just walk. He may re-sign if Shaw is the coach since they have a good relationship.

    Very True

    Byron Scott just get hired?
  • KR1245
    Windy:
After a series of meetings today the #Cavs have started contract talks with Byron Scott. No deal is done yet but sides moving that way.

Where the hell did this come from? Thought Shaw was the guy
  • wes_mantooth
lol...this offseason is pure crazyness. and it really hasn't even started yet.

    Latest from Bill Simmons:

Stephen A. Smith reports that Richard Jefferson just walked away from an orgy with the Laker Girls.

What did they do, flip a coin?

They had Romeo Crennel do it for them.

I have also heard the Celtics may have some interest in Shaq.

Buckle up folks, the next week should be pretty wild.

If Scott is the choice all of a sudden then the Lakers have probably given word they're leaning towards Shaw.

Take this FWIW. It comes from the same guy, I believe, that broke the "Gloria James is sampling the Delonte West meat stick" rumor. Hope this one is correct....

With the NBA free agency period beginning tonight at Midnight, the whole world is waiting to see where LeBron James ends up..but Cleveland fans will rejoice when they hear LeBron ain’t leaving..According to my source, one of LeBron’s good friends from the 2003 Draft class, LeBron will be playing in Cleveland for the foreseeable future..Rumors of LeBron playing in Miami and Chicago have been just that, rumors..My source goes on to say..”LeBron thought about leaving for a minute, but wanted to build his legacy where he started..” Let’s just see what happens..but the slogan for Cleveland has always been..Born Here, Raised Here, Plays Here, Stays Here..and I think it came true..Congrats to Cleveland on keeping your King..now all LeBron has to do is win 5 or 6 championships and he’ll be all good…or else he made a huge mistake. -TO
