Columbus:Officer shoots 13-year old, who pulled BB Gun on them during chase
-
Benny The JetSurprised this wasn't on here yet...from everything in the article, sounds pretty cut and dry that the officer did what he needed to do. Unfortunate and sad? Absolutely. Would I do the same thing in that situation as the officer...Absolutely.

However, I'm just waiting for this to get picked up nationally and seeing how this will be spun by some. -
Fly4FunA tragic story, but from the initial reports it sounds like a justified shooting.

If the kid is black and the officer is white, the shooting is never justified.Fly4Fun;1810999 wrote:A tragic story, but from the initial reports it sounds like a justified shooting.
Also should add, if the kid is white, it won't make national news. -

I mean... really? This is 100% justified. My only question/concern with any situation like this is "shoot to kill." Why can we not shoot to disarm or shoot to disable?Police said the gun, found at the scene, was later determined to be a BB gun with an attached laser sight. -
Gardens35A dead gunman can't shoot back, a wounded one could.
-
iclfan2Because shooting to disarm or disable can still get you killed. These guys make $40k a year and want to get back to their families at night.
Have you shot a gun? If you need to stop something you aren't going to aim for the smallest target (an arm or leg).

I hate this question. Sorry.ernest_t_bass;1811006 wrote:I mean... really? This is 100% justified. My only question/concern with any situation like this is "shoot to kill." Why can we not shoot to disarm or shoot to disable?
But, to just answer it, maybe the officer did? A couple of shots to disable him...just wasn't able to pull through. -

My initial thought was...who mounts a laser scope on a BB gun?ernest_t_bass;1811006 wrote:I mean... really? This is 100% justified. My only question/concern with any situation like this is "shoot to kill." Why can we not shoot to disarm or shoot to disable? -
thavoiceHitting a moving target at a decent range out in 'just a food or arm' is not as easy as they make it seem on TV.
-
queencitybuckeyeOne doesn't "shoot to kill", they shoot to stop the threat. The best way to do so is to fire center-mass until the bad guy gives up or goes down. Until that happens, he's still a threat to the officer's safety.
Also, it's been estimated that under the stress of these types of situations, even good shooters lose about 60% of their accuracy. You shoot at the largest target available (center-mass), and hope you hit it. -

Change "not as easy" to "damn near impossible", especially if you think the target might be shooting back.......Way to much TV.thavoice;1811031 wrote:Hitting a moving target at a decent range out in 'just a food or arm' is not as easy as they make it seem on TV. -
ZoltanSad, hope there is body cam footage to put the truth out, whatever that may be.

Does Columbus use them?Zoltan;1811043 wrote:Sad, hope there is body cam footage to put the truth out, whatever that may be. -

I believe Columbus has them but not for every officer. You can probably guess that this officer didn't have one on, but luckily for him there were multiple witnesses of the shooting who are allegedly corroborating the officer's story.Benny The Jet;1811047 wrote:Does Columbus use them? -
vball10setPoint a gun at someone, especially a law enforcement agent who also has a gun, expect to get shot.

Seems simple but the hashtag commandos have started the spin (#TyreeKing). #blacklivesmatterfactsdonotvball10set;1811052 wrote:Point a gun at somebody, especially a law enforcement official who also has a gun, expect to get shot. -

Racism will never die because it pays too well. -

Never thought of it like that, but it sure makes you wonder.sleeper;1811059 wrote:Likely a pay day coming for the family.

Certainly the race pimps (Jackson, Sharpton, etc.) want nothing to do with the end of racism. Sadly, they and their ilk have convinced a number of dull white SJWs that there's merit to their nonsense.vball10set;1811060 wrote:Never thought of it like that, but it sure makes you wonder. -

Sandra Bland's family just got $1.9M because she killed herself in police custody.vball10set;1811060 wrote:Never thought of it like that, but it sure makes you wonder.
Do you think a random white person who goes through the same thing gets paid? -

Yes, without a doubt.sleeper;1811068 wrote:Sandra Bland's family just got $1.9M because she killed herself in police custody.

No chance. It wouldn't make national news and without the political pressure there's no way the police department would have settled.Commander of Awesome;1811069 wrote:Yes, without a doubt.
$1.9M for killing yourself. What a time to be alive. -
