No I read it right. You removed the reason and then pretended black people just get harsher punishments for being black.Commander of Awesome;1811219 wrote:Reading is hard. Nice fail.
That's just not true; reality says otherwise. -
sleeperAgain, it gets to the point where the only way to "prove" racism is to completely misrepresent the facts and manipulate people with false narratives.
There's only one reason to do this and that is extract money and influence from groups that actually need help. Pretty sick if you ask me but I'm not a liberal. -
sleeper
The answer is no. The reason blacks often get harsher punishments has to do with blacks on average having a longer list of priors in which the judge will recommend a stronger sentence. It's not simply comparing white person with no priors vs. black with no priors; its taking the data out of context to drive a narrative.like_that;1811218 wrote:Do you have anything that proves this? -

This is my main issue with the Kaepernick, BLM, etc. It is borderline retarded to think that there is a nationwide conspiracy to jail black people, even among black cops. OR the reality is that most crimes happen in the same neighborhoods, are then policed more, and more crime is caught. Derp. Then people complain about police, they stop actively policing, and you end up with Chicago. More derp.sleeper;1811210 wrote:There isn't some vast conspiracy to arrest black people and put them in jail. They are in jail in larger numbers because they commit more crime than whites. -

It's much easier to blame white people than it is to accept responsibility for the failures of your own culture and your own self.iclfan2;1811225 wrote:This is my main issue with the Kaepernick, BLM, etc. It is borderline retarded to think that there is a nationwide conspiracy to jail black people, even among black cops. Blaming white people and racism will never solve the problems in the black community. That isn't PC to say and black people don't want to hear it but that's the reality. -

How can you argue that women commit less crimes because less women are arrested than men, but white people get away with more because less white people are arrested than black people?Commander of Awesome;1811199 wrote:As for women, According to a recent report about gender and crime, men commit more crimes than females overall. “Females have lower arrest rates than males for virtually all crime categories except prostitution” -
FatHobbitjmog;1811202 wrote:I bet if you found a study that related crime to economic situation/poverty rates you would see white crime rates and black crime rates statistically identical. However, due to the fact that currently minorities on average have higher poverty rates they will have higher crime rates. Higher crime rates=more minorities in jail.
I agree with the economic angle. When I was younger I was arrested at a party for underage drinking with several other people. A few of them were smart, didn't say anything, got a lawyer and they were found not guilty. Most of us cooperated with the police (they said the judge would go easy on us if we cooperated, lol)and we were all found guilty and had to do community service. -
Commander of Awesome
I didn't, I have no idea if they commit less crimes. What I do know is that they're arrested significantly less than males, hence why men make up the large percentage of the prison system. LOL... Love the way that's written. They can "expect" to go to prison... Why? ... Because they are black? Don't they usually have to commit a felony also? And is it too much to ask as a society that serious criminals be punished? Should they get a "get out of jail free card" because of their skin color?according to the Bureauof Justice Statistics one in three black men can expect to go to prison in their lifetime.
What is truly disturbing is that " One out of three " commits a serious crime… And that's just those who get caught and who don't get off with lighter sentences. Most assuredly the reason for this is far more a cause for concern . -
Azubuike24As a middle class, white male, who has done quite well for himself, it's frustrating because there's almost no possible way to take an opposing side or have an articulated discussion about this topic without being called a racist.
It's a chicken and egg scenario, and instead of looking at both sides that are contributing to these outcomes, we just keep hammering the other side even harder. -

Poverty among blacks has fallen sharply: In 1966, two years after Johnson’s speech, four-in-ten (41.8%) of African-Americans were poor; blacks constituted nearly a third (31.1%) of all poor Americans. By 2012, poverty among African-Americans had fallen to 27.2%like_that;1811079 wrote:Let me know how black people have benefited from democrats running their towns the last 50 years. Prison population isn't made up of predominately serious crime offenders (least in my eyes).HitsRus;1811236 wrote:LOL... Love the way that's written. They can "expect" to go to prison... Why? ... Do some research and provide a link to prove this. Again, better be with the same/no priors, or it will be like comparing someone's salary who had 15 years experience to someone who has none.Commander of Awesome;1811216 wrote:Talking individual basis here. 1 White Guy, 1 Black Guy commit same crime, no prior record. I'd be willing to bet that the chance of a black vs. white person getting ventilated is exactly the same if they pull a gun on a cop. -

I will admit there are several examples that I think are unfair. Hard to compare since just reading the Tennessee one the minimum required sentence by law was 15 years, so doesn't matter white/black/purple he would have got 15 years. The comments from the judge even made it seem like it would have been a much lighter sentence had the state law allowed it.FatHobbit;1811667 wrote:I will admit there are several examples that I think are unfair. Different states, different laws.
When I asked for a link I was thinking about statistics with priors/crimes/sentences vs race, not single cases. -

Couldn't you apply that same logic to black vs white males in jail? You're still avoiding the fact that blacks commit the majority of the crimes, thus more of them are in jail. It's really not that difficult to comprehend. Also, you pwned sleeper with facts? Your main argument right now is black people are unfairly arrested, which explains why 70% of households are fatherless. Not a very strong argument. I should also mention that you posted a link from the NAACP. I hope next gun debate you don't QQ if somebody posts something from the NRA.Commander of Awesome;1811234 wrote:I didn't, I have no idea if they commit less crimes. If you are speaking about weed, I am with you there. Hell, I think all drugs should be decriminalized, however if somebody wants to get into hard drugs, they should get ZERO help form the government. That's another argument.Commander of Awesome;1811244 wrote:Prison population isn't made up of predominately serious crime offenders (least in my eyes).

Most are in for drug offenses.
This still doesn't answer why most black households are fatherless with no focus on education/discipline nor does it give them an excuse.
1. Decriminalize weed and it won't even come close to solving the fatherless household issue.
2. Decriminalize all drugs and I am willing to bet those fathers taking hard drugs won't be in their children's lives. If they are, they sure as hell aren't being great role models when it comes to family structure of discipline/education.
So, again when will black communities who believe they are oppressed start to address the family structure issue? And again, democrats (mainly black) are running their towns (mayors, councilmen, police departments, schools, fire departments, social workers, etc), so who is oppressing who again?
I also still would like to know why the Asians were able to recover after being placed into interment camps. If only successful liberals would preach what they practice... -

Only thing I have to say is, and I have said it before......at times overseas our soldiers are not allowed to fire until fired upon. Why cant the police at least wait until they see a gun? Granted, it is much closer range and such and a soldier likely isnt gonna get hit by the potshots that are taken at them, but I dont know why a police officer cannot wait until he at least sees a gun.OSH;1811766 wrote:Here's the latest one...in Tulsa. Bad questions to ask. This is racism and the reason why blacks have 70% fatherless homes. If white people would stop holding black people down, they would be the richest ethnicity ever and whites would be the poorest; that is simple fact.iclfan2;1811774 wrote:I'm surprised I haven't seen more on this one besides the usual BLM stuff. Oh and black people should not go to prison for breaking the law. Prisons are racist and oppressive and white people simply don't understand the legal system because they don't have to deal with the oppression of going to jail for breaking the law.
