There are times I agree with you, more often than I like to admit, but you are way off by dismissing my comments.

Many grads are too fucking spoiled to take a job while they search and wait for the job they want. They would rather move back in with mommy and daddy and be coddled than to just be a fucking adult and get a job.

It isnt very difficult to get a job. Some of these entitled brats who are graduating nowadays think they should start at the top of the ladder.

Please....tell us about your current job search.

Sorry, but none of that is true in my circle of friends. I had to move back in with my parents when I was 23, and it was my very last resort. I was working two (shitty) jobs at the time and still couldn't afford to be on my own. I was embarrassed, and eventually made my situation worse by waiting so long to ask them for help. Once I did move back in with them (which I came to love, FWIW), I worked two jobs again while still trying to find a better one. A lot of my friends are in the same boat.

Perfect example of an out of touch "older" person. My dad was the same way...."get out there, knock on some doors! It's easy to get a job!!"

    Fucking clueless.

Of course I didnt mean everyone.

It is a real problem though that some people are just too proud to take a job they feel is below them.

I know people with $100k in student loan debt, which is a different convo for a different day. But of course they aren't going to want a job making $8.50/hour. When your loan payments are that high, you can't live like that.

But companies also don't look to waste money hiring and training people who ARE above jobs and will leave the first chance they get...so a kid with a 3.0 in accounting from Dayton isn't going to find getting a job at TheGap or Subway any easier.

    It isn't difficult? LOL

I don't know a single recent college grad that thinks they should start at the top of the ladder. Most would be happy with any job with a salary large enough to service their student loans and potentially move out of their parents basement. Now, I have no doubt that there are some grads who think they should start off making $100k per year but that is the exception, not the rule.

Hell I havent made $8.50/hr since the early 90's!

But some job is better than no job correct?

Then don't get a degree in something basic at a school that costs $100,000. I love the people who go for a generalized degrees then expect to get a high paying job to start. Sorry your Business Management degree isn't worth much with no specialization.

    Blanket statements...how do they work?

No shit it's easy to get a job. Read Fab's above post. And that's just one situation. There are too many variables to just say..."durr it's easy to get a job, people are lazy."

Clueless as in you really don't know what it's like to search for a job in today's corporate world. If I'm wrong, and you do....please elaborate how how it went for you.

If anyone thinks it is easy to get a job in the US, by all means quit yours now and apply. My guess is there will be hundreds of rejections before one even gets an interview. Even at a fast food shop.

I will give you that. I dont live in the corporate world.
I run a store, am an Army Reservist and since I have free time in the AM I go into a local factory across the street from 6-8AM 4-6 days a week for some extra spending cash on the side.

Our county has 3.7% unemployment and yet the classifieds are still popping with jobs and see hiring signs are recent places.

While the unemployment rate is low a lot of people dropped out of the work force. Now if those people were actually job seekers then it's a problem.

No one said it's easy to get a job, but if you're just applying online with no follow up, waiting for your dream job to leap into your lap, you'll end up like sleeper...delusional, living alone, jobless, and telling everyone how to be successful. Hey sleeper, you still claiming to own a Mc D's?
