Workout/Lifting Thread and Health Thread

Really enjoying P90X3. Love the yoga and isometrics.

The message about nutrition is so flawed. Government subsidies of the worst food and corporate interests too entrenched to overrule cause the message to be wrong. Those born in the last few generations don't know any different, and they are used to a "doctor" being an expert on good health. The problem is, doctors know zero about nutrition. They know how to prescribe drugs and treat symptoms (with more drugs). The system is set up to sustain life via drugs which has allowed the average age to steadily rise. In-reality, given the technology and medical advancements, the average age should be well-above what it is, but we've "settled" for a life of poor health and environmental choices counteracted with modern medicine which gets the average person to about 75-80 years old. It's perpetuated by the entire system and it's unfair to blame individuals who have yet to or are incapable of escaping the "system."

I know this is getting away from the workout/lifting discussion, but it all plays a role. I'm a physical culturist/wannabe elite athlete/gym rat, whatever you want to call it, but much of that is based on pure enjoyment of lifting, physique and playing sports. Nutrition and other environmental factors (sleep, stress, avoiding toxins, gut bacteria, hormones) are all much more important than lifting weights or running miles.

"Those born in the last few generations don't know any different" jumped out at me. I was at a local farm market buying fruits & vegetables over the weekend and there was this older lady, probably in her 60's, with her husband who was "on a health kick", according to her, buying vegetables. She's standing there tapping her feet impatiently, and says "I don't know why you're buying this crap. Bill, your buddy, eats like this and he looks 10 years older than you.

Even my mother, who is in her 80's, grew up on a farm and everything they ate was natural. But once she got older and all of the processed crap became available, it was the "way of life." You'd think the older generation would know better.

When they stopped cooking with lard and butter.

Real, grass-pastured butter is one of the healthiest things someone can consume!

I agree with your posts, but couldn't help but to return to this site eh?

I generally will leave for long periods of time but a comment that is beyond stupid bullshit will typically draw me back. My passion is working out and nutrition so when I see bullshit, I comment on it. I won't be posting much.

You won't have to worry about me posting on Browns threads. There's enough stupidity being spewed over there to choke a horse. Between Iggy & Footwedge's slobbering on Manziel's knob and all of the asinine "we gotta take a QB at #4" bullshit, I'm just fine on this thread.

Ha...you don't need to see me post over here. You can see that on Facebook, if I'm on there anymore.

Lol so you are back? Whatever happened to "leaving for good"

And this is the ONLY time that you'll ever see S&L posting on any thread that's health & fitness related.

It's not even half as dumb as the shit I read on yappi. Nice to see you back, you're still welcome on the browns thread.

Umm, yeah...don't think you're going to top Iggy/Footwedge's manlove for Johnny FootTall. Either they are seriously delusional or they are trolling way too hard. Plus there's way too many people that think either Bortles/Teddy Bust or FootTall is worth the #4, which they're not.

Plenty of stupidity on Yappi though and I have no interest in the Browns thread. Just came back on here because that stupid jogging shit was driving me nuts.

It is a healthy lifestyle because it makes your cardiovascular system more efficient.

This article does a solid job explaining which (HIIT v Cardio) is good and when.
    http://experiencelife.com/article/steady-state-cardio-vs-high-intensity-interval-training/

For the fat alcoholics on here, it's probably best they start with cardio and then after a few weeks dive into the HIIT business.

Their VO2 would probably be just as high for the first few weeks during a cardio training regimen as it would with a HIIT.

I might cycle onto running intervals after I get my mile times back down.

If they jumped into HIIT right away they're just begging to hurt themselves and/or have a heart attack.

So whatever happened to leaving for good though? Just couldn't resist the urge to come back and post? I thought you'd have no problem whatsoever leaving this site for good?

Nature of the beast. Would you expect any less from the OC's resident dickhead? At least now whenever he wants to creep on my posts he won't have to go onto Mantooth's Facebook feed, cut & paste it and post in on the Browns thread. He can just lurk on this thread.

Good. Keep missing them. As for now, you're thread shitting. So unless you have something to contribute to this thread, you're doing your "hey, look at me....it's S&L" bullshit again.

I only came here to comment on this fitness thread. I won't be on the Browns thread so we won't have to be running into each other.

BR I have a question. Have you ever monitored your resting heart rate as part of your training program?
