Women and Minorities: A Question.

I did. I made it clear that it was not a question of "need" but dessert. Minorities and women do not "need" policies that amount to affirmatively beneficial discrimination based upon racial/gender classification but they "deserve" it as we as a society have a compelling interest for such types of positive discrimination for their having to deal with centuries of negative and often times horrific and de-humanizing negative discrimination on the basis of race/gender.like_that;1396631 wrote:
LOL, just answer his fucking question. -

Once again, your knowledge that you are not in part the beneficiary of racial discrimination is illusory.sleeper;1396651 wrote:Argument fail. I did not benefit from racist policies and I'm not benefiting from them now. -

LOL they don't deserve shit. The only thing anyone deserves is something he/she has worked for.
Thanks for the laugh though. -

If they don't need it, get rid of it. Minorities and women will still get jobs and you can start the healing process between all races and gender. :thumbup:BoatShoes;1396672 wrote:I did. I'm not. And the majority of black people living now weren't discriminated against either. Time to grow up.BoatShoes;1396673 wrote:Once again, your knowledge that you are not in part the beneficiary of racial discrimination is illusory. -
O-TrapZWICK 4 PREZ;1396248 wrote:If you could switch places with a black man tomorrow would you?
Fuck no you wouldn't and you know you wouldn't.
Well, there are a lot of black people I'd trade places with. Hell, all other relevant things being equal (talent/intelligence, upbringing), I can't honestly say that I'm better off just because I'm white.
ZWICK 4 PREZ;1396257 wrote:Yeah.. b/c you know damn well you have it made and you wouldn't want his life no matter what.
Again, there are indeed plenty of black people whose lives I would take.
I'm not saying that there is no discrimination. Far from it. I'm merely saying that I think the fiscal advantages certainly level the playing field from a purely racial standpoint.
Ultimately, though, I think the majority if the discussion, on both sides quite frankly, has a racist undertone to it. Whether we're talking about fortune or misfortune, we're still trying to make blanket statements connecting it to one's skin color. There are plenty of white, black, Asian, Native, etc. people who are leading successful, functional lives. Enough so that I don't think race is nearly as big a factor anymore as things like the economics of the area in which you live/grew up, the population density, etc.
You'll find more similarities between a white and black teen who both grow up in the same neighborhood than you will between two people of the same color (pick one) who are raised in neighborhoods with different levels of affluence as normative. -

There's nothing obvious about your hypothetical question. Why would someone be a keeper if they aren't qualified? It makes no sense.ernest_t_bass;1396546 wrote:No, the problem is, given that scenario, the answer is easy. Instead of answering said scenario with the obvious easy answer, you try to spin it.
Hmm... This guy here has all the credentials and is very qualified... But I have a feeling this other guy who isn't qualified will do a good job bc he has a similar haircut as mine. -

nah i doubt it..pics or stfu. if you do i bet you save your opinions about most blacks wanting handouts and others to anonymous message boards otherwise they wouldnt hang out with you. either way if you were a true friend to them you wouldnt make a lot of the statments you have made here or anywhere. especially not to their facelike_that;1396641 wrote:I just saw this. Yes! I've got a buddy who has worked at UPS for 2.5 years, I've been there 3. He's going for management, good employee, really one of those guys who gets a lot of sh** done, not an idiot either and speaks intelligently. He got passed over two girls, one who has been there a year and the other just 4 months. They aren't bad employees, but he's a much better worker. Only difference is he's a he. Just sickens me to see them fill position after position with unqualified minorities, of course the upper management positions are literally 100% white malelike_that;1396192 wrote:How many "minorities" and "women" do we even have on the OC?
Anyway, I have said it before, but I will say it again, I think white middle class men are the most discriminated group in this country. -

lol I am not posting pics, however I have remained close with all of them. DGAF if you don't believe it. I have had this discussion with all of them as well. One of them actually agreed how it was bullshit, however of course he wasn't going to complain about the preferences he gets as a black man (which I wouldn't either). The others we had to agree to disagree.Gblock;1396728 wrote:nah i doubt it..pics or stfu. if you do i bet you save your opinions about most blacks wanting handouts and others to anonymous message boards otherwise they wouldnt hang out with you. either way if you were a true friend to them you wouldnt make a lot of the statments you have made here or anywhere. especially not to their face -

I believe the correct order is:ernest_t_bass;1396184 wrote:It's known in the basketball officiating ranks, that if you are a minority or a woman, and you are a decent basketball official, you will have a fast track to the "top." Let's take HS officiating, for example. If you are minority or a woman, you will make your way to the state tournament, much faster than a white male, who is better quality. The reason? "They" want to have more diversity being shown on the court during the state tournament.

O-TrapThis topic, honestly, should have been more broad. After all, skin tone and sex are not the only two reasons that a lesser employee might be chosen.
Attractiveness is certainly used in certain occupations.
Weight can be.
Literal vision (as opposed to proverbial vision).
Personality compatibility.
All these can be, and are, used in the hiring process, even though they don't inherently establish a candidate as a better employee. -

Yes...youre totally correct. It is only liberal democrats who DON'T think that most blacks want a handout and it is the reputation of blacks that they want handouts. Anybody ITT who doesn't give a shit about politics care to chime in on these outrageous claims?bigdaddy2003;1396800 wrote:You might see he that he owned the thread if you didn't live in a liberal Democrat bubble.
How can a person own a thread when he claims most people of a race want handouts and his evidence is.. "I dont live under a rock"?
I understand why bigdaddy feels that way. He shares Like_that's proclivities. Perhaps bigdaddy you can inform us more about the dependent and servile nature of the black race and their desire for handouts from hardworking whites such as yourself??? -

My posts have predominantly dealt with challenging a man who claimed most blacks want handouts to support that claim.Sonofanump;1396801 wrote:I don't believe you, my screen still shows post of BoatShoes on this thread.
Hardly anywhere near as questionable as the initial claim itself. Care to suggest what I've posted that you find so disconcerting? -
bigdaddy2003
The problem is that from posts and other members who seem to be liberal as well you think minorities are still being held back by "the man" and that white people have nothing to complain about in 2013. No, of course all black people don't want handouts but I've read enough of your posts to know how you think and your opinion of the subject is as far out there as you think like_that is with his. You're just on the other side. Oh and spare me the "I don't know you" or "BigDaddy is a racist conservative who can't handle that minorities are emerging" arguments that I can feel coming. I've read enough of your posts in the political forum and on this thread to know plenty about your mindset on the subject. You seem to be a pretty smart guy overall but anyone who thinks minorities have it bad in 2013 is drinking kool-aid by the pitcher from the Democratic party.BoatShoes;1396843 wrote:Yes...youre totally correct. Crimson streakIt's funny how do many blacks thought slavery was some absolute terrible thing. Many of the slaves in that time didn't want to be set free because they were given food and shelter. In exchange for doing work the slaves would get compensated with food and shelter. It was a 100% better life style than living back in Africa

Because it's absolutely true! LOL. Woe for all those slaves and especially woe for all those black people who weren't slaves, who weren't segregated back in the day with Jim Crows laws, and get preferential racial treatment; Oh I just feel so bad for them. :laugh:Fly4Fun;1396920 wrote:There are probably some people on this earth that legitimately have thoughts like this. -

I think racial quotas are ridiculous. If I'm applying for a job why should someone less qualified than me get it because of the color of their skin? And then I read something like this and realize there are people who still think like this.Crimson streak;1396908 wrote:It's funny how do many blacks thought slavery was some absolute terrible thing. sleeperLet's just give all black people $1,000 and end all protected classes, affirmative action, and quotas. $1,000 x approximately 40 million blacks = $40 billion dollars.
Most blacks will go along with this and we can finally put racism behind us.
