  Killing Floor by Lee Child. I'm really enjoying it. It's the first book in the Jack Reacher series.

  Anyone read The Martian? It's apparently being made into a movie releasing this November with Mark Wahlberg. Should be pretty good. Book was awesome.

  "Look Who's Back" by Timor Vermes. It is a dark comedy about Hitler waking up in modern day Belin with no idea what has happened since April 30, 1945. He sees everything in terms of National Socialism. And people think he is an incredible method actor playing Hitler who refuses to break character because h's so committed to his craft. He ends up becoming an Internet sensation.
  
  The book was excellent and very funny. It shows Hitler as the diabolical person he is, but it also explains how he could be oddly charming.
  
  Anyway, an excellent read for something different.

  I'm in the middle of Stephen King's "The Stand". I've always meant to, but just never gotten around to it. I'm about half way through and it is great. King is a wonderful guilty pleasure.

  I concur. A great read. One of those "it only took that long to get through 1000 pages????" things.

  I re-read lord of the flies, and am now finishing up orange is the new black. Any reccomendations? Apparently I should read "the stand"?

  Started Unbroken this weekend. Saw the movie sat so I may wait a week or so to really get into it.

  Just finished "Whenever I Wind Up" by R.A. Dickey. Very good. It was about his whole life struggles and jumping everywhere in the minors....and then nearly died trying to swim across the Missouri River and things went good from there. Always struggling for money he finally gets regular big league money.....but the book is published just before his gigantic 2012 season and making $12 million a year
  
  I may have to read his next book. "Throwing Strikes"

  Yeah I finished Moneyball earlier this year, pretty solid.
  
  I am over a third of the way through "America's Great Game: The CIA's Secret Arabists and the Shaping of the Modern Middle East"
  
  Pretty interesting book about how the U.S. was very active in the Middle East during WWII and during the Cold War, and was very pro-Arab for many years. Interesting also the CIA officers were descendants of Theodore Roosevelt.

  Getting ready to start Malazan Book of the Fallen. 10-book fantasy series that's supposed to be dense enough to make A Song of Ice and Fire seem straight-forward. They apparently just dump you into the world and let you figure out exactly what is going on.

  "Going Clear" - its the Lawrence Wright book about Scientology that the upcoming HBO documentary is based upon. I've always been fascinated with Hubbard and Scientology. It is a criminal organization.

  Finally finished "The Stand". Next up is a easy Stone Barrington novel by Stuart Woods, and then "The boys in the boat".

  And I have started the first book. And am basically trying to figure out what's going on from the beginning. Fortunately, on tor.com, people do read/re-read blogs on fantasy series, which gives me something to read after every chapter to get the gist of how things tie into each other and what obscure details I need to pay more attention to.

  Just finishing up Unbroken. Took a little while as I got it the day I saw the movie.
  Book is better, and the part of the book that is AFTER the movie ends just makes it so much better. Right now they authorities are searching for all the war criminals in Japan. APparently the Germans and Italinas treated their POW's much, much better than Japan did.

  Finished unbroken.....the story after the ending in the movie is fantastic.
  
  Started The Outpost last night. Had started it 2-3 years ago and only got to page 35, but last night started from the beginning and got to the 50's. With reading 'season' almost over this will probably take through the summer.

  On "boys in the boat" now, pretty good. Also have "All the light we cannot" see waiting to be read. Has good reviews. "Reading season" is always in season here as every weekend the wife doesn't work is spent at the beach or pool in the summer. Not much else to do beside drinks and read.

  I'm reading through a (lengthy) book for developers called "Soft Skills." It's kind of unique in that it's a non-technical book on how to manage your life and career as a developer. I've read through the first section (out of 5) and it is great so far. It would have been nice to have a decade ago when I started my career.
