2017 OSU Football Discussion

ironman02Looks like no announcement from Lattimore today. I would assume that someone is telling him that he would be crazy to come back when he's supposed to be the first CB taken in the draft. Despite what he said yesterday, like many of you said, it would be shocking if he returns.

I thought the NCAA were adding another coaching position this year. I could be wrong and that might have been mentioned already.ironman02;1831622 wrote:The NCAA is voting whether to allow 10 football assistant coaches in April.
Right now, with Warinner, OSU would have 10 coaches. He is currently the OC/TE coach.
Wilson - New Offensive Coordinator
Schiano - Defensive Coodinator
Coombs - DC/Defensive Backs
Alford - Running Backs
Day - Quarterbacks
Smith - Wide Receivers
Studrawa - OLine
Johnson - DLine
Davis - Linebackers
Either Warinner is leaving, or they're waiting until the NCAA decides about the 10th coaching position to make Wilson official. Or they could call Warinner a quality control assisistant until the 10th spot is official.
Reading that kid from Cali, Darnay, wants to come to OSU but his parents are fighting him tooth and nail over it. Not looking good for the good guys. -

It's my understanding that the 10th assistant would be for next year.mcburg93;1831650 wrote:I thought the NCAA were adding another coaching position this year. I could be wrong and that might have been mentioned already.

I have heard the same thing about Darnay Holmes. He wants OSU, dad wants UCLA, mom and other family want USC. Sounds like he's gonna stay home, and my bet would be USC.
OSU will most likely get a commitment from Jeffrey Okudah, 5* DB from Texas, tomorrow at the Army AA Game. Sounds like they're also in good shape to get JUCO DB, Kendall Sheffield, who was a 5* CB who committed to Bama a couple years ago. After that, they're still holding out hope for DTs Marvin Wilson and Jay Tufele, but both are long shots. Three Ohio kids, two of which don't currently have offers, are also on the radar...WR Jaylen Harris, ATH Lynn Bowden, and OL Thayer Munford. -

Lynn Bowden, seems crazy that he has not been picked up by a school yet. That kid is a baller.ironman02;1831662 wrote:It's my understanding that the 10th assistant would be for next year.

ironman02Recruiting crystal balls are all over the place for Holmes. Many switched to USC yesterday, then some of the heavy hitters of recruiting flipped them to UCLA this morning. I think there may be some deception going on so that his decision comes as a surprise. Could be interesting later today. Maybe don't count out the Buckeyes after all.

Benny The JetAnyone know when Okudah and Holmes announce? Quarter wise?

Okudah is supposed to be in the 3rdQ and Holmes in the 4thQ.Benny The Jet;1831729 wrote:Anyone know when Okudah and Holmes announce? Quarter wise?
Not sure about Bubba Bolden, who is a Bishop Gorman teammate of Martell, Lindsey, and Garrett. He was previously committed to USC, then was thought to be a silent to OSU, then was leaning back toward USC. Now the word is he might end up at Arizona State. Very weird. lol -
Benny The JetI like Bubba Bolden a lot. He hits hard. I would have loved to seen him at OSUironman02;1831732 wrote:Okudah is supposed to be in the 3rdQ and Holmes in the 4thQ.

ironman02Offensive lineman Evan Lisle is the first to transfer.

ironman02Bubba Bolden to USC. He'll be an impact player there, in my opinion.

ironman02Holmes picked UCLA, but Okudah is a Buckeye!

mcburg93Kyle Trout is out as well. Losing these linemen seems rough considering how bad our line was this year. I know the Bucks were going to end up over the amount of recruits they could bring in but losing linemen just dont seem to be the way to do it.

ironman02Noah Brown just declared for the draft. That one surprises me.

Benny The JetTorrence Gibson just sent out a tweet saying he's flying from Florida to ohio. People taking this as he's back at OSU
-
Benny The JetAlso rumors that Jamarco may be gone too. That one would really hurt.

me too, considering for all intents and purposes he really only had one stellar game...and to be honest, I'm not too sure Urbs was thrilled with his blocking--so maybe he was given Meyer's 'blessing'?ironman02;1831769 wrote:Noah Brown just declared for the draft. That one surprises me. -

I know they must not be good. Just hard to think as thin as the Buckeyes are at linemen they would let two go. I am guessing they are banking on the ones coming in to be better then these two.vball10set;1831790 wrote:what's this tell you about Lisle & Trout then?

I sure hope so, cause if not, we thought we were thin this year? ouchmcburg93;1831795 wrote:I know they must not be good. Just hard to think as thin as the Buckeyes are at linemen they would let two go. I am guessing they are banking on the ones coming in to be better then these two. -

I'm glad he left honestly. He's going to get paid and he's one of the best playmakers available in the draft.Automatik;1831931 wrote:Samuel gone.

wildcats20I could've sworn I read that Samuel was coming back last night. Guess not.

There had been a lot of talk that he was returning. Sounds like he ended up liking the feedback he received from the NFL, so he decided it was time to go.wildcats20;1831946 wrote:I could've sworn I read that Samuel was coming back last night. Guess not.
Really gonna miss watching him at Ohio State. One of my favorite Buckeyes. Hope he finds the right fit in the NFL and does well.
