That's huge for Ohio State. They have been barely missing out on premiere DTs the last few years, so getting the #1 guy at that position is awesome. He's gonna be a monster.mcburg93;1845313 wrote:Boom!!! Great pick up for the Buckeyes. Taron Vincent 5 star out of IMG in florida.
The 2018 class for OSU is off to a "slow" start with only five commits right now, but all five are in the Top 65 in the country. This is gonna be another LOADED class. -
mcburg93
Is this due to some of these guys are waiting later and later to commit? I just looked at the rankings and hardly any of the Five star guys have committed. I know there is still a ton of time left for them to commit just seems strange that the Buckeyes only have five commits. I see Bama only has 6 so guess it will heat up closer to the fall. This should be another huge class as well. Some of these guys they have now are on the verge of being five star. Having two already is just getting this train a moving.ironman02;1845330 wrote:

ironman02Yeah, it's basically just that Ohio State is involved with upper echelon players, and most of those guys are choosing to enjoy the process by taking all their visits and receiving attention from all the big-time programs. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
The 2018 class in the state of Ohio is very talented, so I would expect a lot of those guys to pull the trigger eventually, but it may take longer than usual for your typical in-state guy to commit. Nationally, OSU will continue to battle for the best of the best.
I would expect this class to be somewhere around 25 commits when all is said and done, and it could end up having an even higher average star rating per player than last year's class, which would be just ridiculous. -
ironman02Officially starting to worry about Jackson Carman, 5* OT from Fairfield, OH.
Ohio State had been his leader for quite some time, but he really enjoyed his trip to Clemson. Couple that with the fact that it sounds like he really wants to leave Ohio for college, and it seems like Urban has his work cut out for him. Missing on an in-state talent like Carman would really hurt. OSU would be fine since they're recruiting at such a high level, but you don't wanna start losing your state's top prospect to other competitors.

Read a story on espn about this. That would really suck to lose on a 5* guy from Ohio. Especially to Clemson.ironman02;1846609 wrote:Officially starting to worry about Jackson Carman, 5* OT from Fairfield, OH.

mcburg93Going to be a big weekend for recruits. Looks like there will be quite a few for the spring game.
Looking forward to see how Burrows and Haskens perform. Like to see how Jt does passing the ball. Hope Prince decided to step up his game. Maybe I am asking for a little to much. -
ironman024* OT Max Wray from Franklin, TN has committed to OSU. He's the #4 OT in the 2018 class, and #57 player overall.
Big addition from SEC country. -
wildcats20No tackling in the spring game.

wildcats20OSU RB target Zamir White. Pretty small.

Can't believe you missed seeing the Joe Burrow show in person. Dude is lighting it up even though it's been 2 hand touch.Ironman92;1847965 wrote:Was offered two tickets...turned them down

ironman02Another BOOM for the Buckeyes. The nation's #7 safety and #87 overall prospect, Josh Proctor, from Oklahoma has committed to OSU.
That's #7 for the 2018 class. -

Burrow was excellent, but Haskins was better--the guy's arm is a cannon, and can fit in in the tightest of spots. IMO, he goes into the season #2.Terry_Tate;1847970 wrote:Can't believe you missed seeing the Joe Burrow show in person. Dude is lighting it up even though it's been 2 hand touch.

ironman024* DE Brenton Cox out of Georgia has committed to OSU. Another big win from the South.

Benny The JetDoes the committment of Cox effect Micah Parsons ?
-
ironman02
Nope. With OSU losing Tyquan Lewis and Jalyn Holmes after this season, and likely losing Sam Hubbard as well, they're wanting 3 DEs in this class. Cox is the first DE to commit, and they want Micah Parsons and Tyreke Smith as well.Benny The Jet;1849851 wrote:Does the committment of Cox effect Micah Parsons ?
If they get all three of those guys, plus Taron Vincent, and then still have Bosa for another year plus Chase Young, then it's gonna be absurd. They're really selling these guys on the "rushmen" package where they can all see early playing time, and have several of them on the field at once. -

I think the best thing Ohio State can do going forward (and they did a little but more of this last year) is getting true freshmen on the field earlier. They've had 15 underclassmen leave early the last 2 years, and that won't slow down with the way recruiting is going. Unless there are injury issues or they're a quarterback I don't see much reason to redshirt a player. Get them playing in mop up time early in the season and then when they play any of the B1G cupcakes.ironman02;1849879 wrote:Nope. ironman02Looks like a surprise BOOM for Ohio State.
4* CB Sevyn Banks has committed to the Buckeyes. This one kinda came out of nowhere.

Midstate01I'm spend way too much time on osu recruiting and I knew practicality nothing about this kid, outside that he had visited.

He visited for the Spring Game a couple weeks ago and then Coombs visited with him again yesterday. Seems like he pulled the trigger quickly because he knew OSU was probably only taking, at most, 3 more DBs in this class. Woodbey and Proctor are the committed safeties and OSU is supposed to lead for Anthony Cook and Houston Griffith at CB.Midstate01;1850043 wrote:I'm spend way too much time on osu recruiting and I knew practicality nothing about this kid, outside that he had visited.

He sat out last season with a torn ACL, but seems to have recovered well from the injury. He's a 4*, but only around #200 overall in the 2018 class as of right now due to that injury. I would expect his ranking to increase significantly after summer camps and if he stays healthy during the upcoming football season. He's definitely the long, rangy CB that the staff likes, and could end up being VERY good. -
mcburg93
Was kind of surprised by this commit. Didn't hear much about it and new very little about him. Guess that is why they get the big bucks.ironman02;1849991 wrote:Looks like a surprise BOOM for Ohio State.
