It pains me to say this, but you are correct.Benny The Jet;1831239 wrote:JT announces he's coming back. (not sure where he'd go?) Anyways, will/should this be an open QB battle? There's been a ton of hype around Haskins recently from media and the players. And Burrow has looked good when given mop up duty. I think there should be personally. JT hasn't shown me a whole lot the last 2 seasons that says he should be handed the job. Most of the time, they're winning in spite of him it seems. Not getting a lot of help from OL,WR,and playcalling. But, when given the chance...feel like he misses a lot of open guys, and underthrows a TON.
JT is looking more and more like a product of Tom Herman's system and not a great QB in any other system. I will say this though, JT will have to compete against Haskins in practice and Haskins looks like the real deal. It's difficult to bench a senior but this isn't Tressel. -
SportsAndLadyHopefully it's an open competition. May the best QB win. And whoever doesn't win needs to be ready to go when called upon.
-
ironman02In my opinion, JT will win the starting job and he'll look a lot better with a competent QB coach and an OC that can call plays. It'll also help that he'll have some receivers that will have developed, as well as an offensive line that should be better.
That said, he does have work to do in order to improve. If one of the younger guys beats him out, then it means that they're gonna be really good. -

I dont see that happening. For it to be a legit open competition the #2 will need to get a lot of reps in game action early in the season against IU (is that right...week 1 league game?) and Oklahoma. They do not have the luxury of preseason games.SportsAndLady;1831249 wrote:Hopefully it's an open competition. May the best QB win. And whoever doesn't win needs to be ready to go when called upon.
JT will be the starter and given every opportunity to succeed. Urban will go with the known commodity that has done pretty damned well for him over the years and Meyer will bank on JT's progression, and a new OC to get them through the season. The schedule does not look that daunting next year. -
mcburg93I was a little hesitant about Jt sticking around. Hes a true Buckeye and I can appreciate that. I think with the new coaches he will have a better chance at succeeding. The O-line needs to get better to help with his progression. I am staying positive as I can. I hope him staying does not encourage one of the good ones to leave. Its an embarrassment of riches in the Qb department.

Benny The JetWhoa, didn't expect Tyquan to come back next year. Glad to see it though

Nice!Benny The Jet;1831377 wrote:Whoa, didn't expect Tyquan to come back next year. Glad to see it though -
ironman02Sounds like Lattimore may be staying as well. Official announcement might be tomorrow. That's pretty huge.
I have to think that both he and Lewis are surprises, so that may mean the 2017 class is gonna be even smaller than expected. Might max out at 19 or 20. -
wildcats20I saw a tweet about that referring an IG post. Lattimore hasn't posted on IG in 2 days.
-
Benny The JetWhoa, not to be that guy...but where's this coming from? Not that I doubt you...but I all but wrote him off as gone. He'd be top 15 pick. That'd be nuts
-
wildcats20Ahhh I guess he had an IG live video where he must have said it. Not sure, haven't seen it. And it's one of those things where it's gone right away basically.
-
SportsAndLadyI'd be shocked if Lattimore stayed. He's a top 15 pick, why come back?
I'd love it if he did, but I don't see it. -

I don't really understand why, but I'm cool with it.Benny The Jet;1831377 wrote:Whoa, didn't expect Tyquan to come back next year. Glad to see it though -
ironman02Like I said, nothing official.
wildcats is right. He was live on IG. Maybe he's just screwing with people. -
ironman02So basically there are decisions left from Lattimore and Samuel, plus I have read where Jamarco Jones and Marcus Baugh are considering leaving as well. Jamarco actually had a great year very quietly. Anyway, those are the decisions that are left. Then you factor in that OSU is hoping to sign five more players in the 2017 class (that may decrease with Lewis and possibly Lattimore coming back, but could even out if Jones and Baugh surprisingly leave), and that means that there are gonna be quite a few transfers, grad transfers, or medical hardships. OSU is basically about 10 schollies over 85 as everything stands at the moment.

He's a piece of shit. A few guys in my officials association do the chains for BG and I typically do 2-3 games a year as they need occasional subs, anyways I did them for the IU game last year. I can tell ya this, far and away the worst sidelines I've ever heard was theirs. It wasn't just the usual yelling, they straight up berated those kids.SportsAndLady;1831070 wrote:I like that we got a former head coach and offensive guy as our OC, but I'm not sure Wilson is the best "human being" in the world lol. I know there were a lot of former players of his that came out in defense of him, so who knows.
Either way, I'm just glad Beck is done.
Hearing those all allegations was no surprise -

My guess is that Wilson would be way different if he had to answer to Urban.Classyposter58;1831496 wrote:He's a piece of shit. I'd assume the same thing. Also, I keep seeing everyone reporting as if he's been hired. It's not official yet is it? Just kind of weird that it's been like 3 days and no word from OSU on it.wkfan;1831529 wrote:My guess is that Wilson would be way different if he had to answer to Urban.
They did announce the Studrawa was staying as OL coach. So does that mean Warriner is getting shown the door? They hired 2 coaches (assuming Wilson is hired) and 1 left. That doesn't seem to add up.
EDIT:Just kidding. Forgot about Fickell -
sleeperI don't want Wilson.

Another coach is following Fickell. Not sure if he was an official coach or just a member of the staff. Not sure how all that works.Benny The Jet;1831542 wrote:I'd assume the same thing. Studawra is in fact staying as OL coach. -
wildcats20Support staffer Joker Phillips is going to UC. So I guess that isn't an opening.

ironman02The NCAA is voting whether to allow 10 football assistant coaches in April.
Right now, with Warinner, OSU would have 10 coaches. He is currently the OC/TE coach.
Wilson - New Offensive Coordinator
Schiano - Defensive Coodinator
Coombs - DC/Defensive Backs
Alford - Running Backs
Day - Quarterbacks
Smith - Wide Receivers
Studrawa - OLine
Johnson - DLine
Davis - Linebackers
Either Warinner is leaving, or they're waiting until the NCAA decides about the 10th coaching position to make Wilson official. Or they could call Warinner a quality control assisistant until the 10th spot is official.
