reclegend22Virginia on top of N.C. State 35 to 13 in Raleigh as half-time nears. This, the same Virginia team that recently lost to Tennessee by 35 points.
Mark Gottfried is just awful. This will be his last job at a Big Five (ACC, SEC, Pac-12, Big 12, Big Ten) program. -
swamisezIf you want to hear some great radio today tune into Charlotte's WFNZ. With every team in the state of North Carolina sucking this weekend (Duke Carolina State Wake Panthers Canes) the entire state is in purgatory. Mark James should hear from all 9 Elon fans that walk the planet as they are the only team that did anything of value.
Also the Clemson yokels will be out in force to get their jawwing in after beating Duke. Awesome. -
Ironman92Enjoy watching a foul called on EVERY drive.
Unwatchable
UVA 29 fta
Duke 18
UVA takes it to the hole every time and gets fouled every time....Duke shooting a ton of 3's -

swamisez“We haven’t been at our best since the start of conference, and I haven’t been at my best since Christmas. That’s my responsibility,” he said, alluding to the Dec. 26 death of his older brother, Bill. “We were there tonight, and we were collectively together tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks. It was my responsibility that we weren’t as much as we should have. But today we were.”
“I’m not saying we will platoon like that all the time, but we are going to play more guys. Again, I’ve had to get more observant with my team. I take responsibility, full responsibility, for those first three games,” he said, referring to the win against Georgia Tech and losses at Notre Dame and Clemson.
“Everything is on me. Part of it is not seeing some things. And one of the things is, at times, we would get tired because we’re not as big as some teams. So getting more guys in would help.”
The loss of his brother Bill had to be extremely hard on him and probably still is. It is understandable that he would struggle coming off something like that. It looks as if he is coping and the team is getting managed in ways it wasn't a couple weeks ago.

reclegend22I don't doubt that K has had matters more serious than just basketball on his mind in recent weeks. Losing a brother, with whom he was extremely close, has to be devastating, and he probably hasn't devoted as much time to prepping for upcoming games as he normally would.
As cold as it may sound, though, Bill Krzyzewski's death has not had any effect on the abilities of the players on the team itself, in terms of their ability to make shots, to bring energy on the defensive end and to outplay teams that are clearly inferior. They haven't done any of that over the past two games and are a lucky shot against an NIT team from being 1-3 in the ACC.
The defense Duke played or didn't play last night was the worst effort I've ever seen from a Duke team. There were guys literally standing around as they got blown by. -
swamisezSyracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said he is worried about his guys being prepared for a 6 game run of tough contests in the NCAA tournament given how weak the ACC is.
Didn't take long for Syracuse to lampoon the conference as a whole after having worked over Carolina. I am guessing Jim forgot about the tight contest against Miami at the Carrier Dome a couple weeks ago. -
reclegend22Maybe Jim should just worry about his guys being prepared for a 3 game run in Greensboro first, or he won't win the ACC no matter how weak it is.
I want to beat Syracuse in upstate New York more than I've wanted to win any game outside of Carolina or the NCAAs ever. They're a great team, but it'd be painful to see them take the ACC in their first year. -
ironman02Boeheim is a douche. He'll get his ass kicked in the ACC sooner rather than later.
-
reclegend22I am not particularly fond of Boehiem either. A lot of that is due to his totally distant, unapproachable nature with the press, which makes him come across as a real aloof dick. When he says something sarcastic directed at the press corps, it's not for purposes of being humorous, it's to cut into somebody. He just seems like a bitter old guy.
But, without question, it was the man's incessant whining about the NCAA Tournament needing to be expanded to include any basketball team on American soil after a pair of NIT appearances for Syracuse in the late '00s that turned me off Boehiem. The only other coaches whining about it to that degree at the time were Seth Greenberg, who coached at a football school that was only good in hoops when Dell Curry played there in the '80s. You know what solves that problem? Winning. -
reclegend22It also always bothers me when Boeheim is praised for his consistency. He has gone to four NITs since 1998. Lute Olson went to zero in his final 27 years at Arizona.

swamisezDevils in Coral Gables tonight. This is going to be a real tough test for the Dukies. Miami is well coached, the most veteran starting 5 in the league (thanks to some transfers), and coming off a terrible loss at home to FSU.
Miami has Jekiri down low to give Duke fits and when you add in the fact Miami's forwards who are both graduate transfers rebound the hell out of the ball, this is a recipe for another loss.
Duke has to play full court pressure D and try to get the freshman point guard Davon Reed into tough spots and shoot the three like like all-stars. -
birddog23Last year was a mess at the U. That game gave me nightmares
-
reclegend22Jim Larranaga is arguably the best tactical coach in the conference and will have his team ready to exploit Duke's weakness of stopping the drive. Expect the Hurricanes to attack the rim hard. If Duke doesn't play with the same passion and intensity it did defensively against State, it will be lucky to walk from this one unscathed.
Offensively, I think Andre Dawkins is in for a big night. He relishes these types of road games in rocking arenas. -

reclegend22Duke brought the defensive intensity in the first half and really hit the boards with extreme effort. Blue Devils getting a lot of second-chance opportunities offensively and it's killing Miami who simply cannot score and is going one-and-out pretty much every trip down the floor.
Devils serving the Canes a dose of their own medicine after last year's humiliating defeat for Duke in Coral Gables. -

Much appreciated.Ironman92;1570915 wrote:I'm not watching so you are welcome.
The difference in this game has come on the offensive glass for Duke. Devils +8 in that category with Amile Jefferson and Jabari Parker just destroying the 'Canes on second-chance points. So impressed with Jefferson's level of play this year. He's at a size disadvantage every game, yet simply outworks the opponent most nights for rebounds, loose balls and has a great knack for turning those into baskets. Crafty player with a penchant for stretching his long body to convert tough baskets.
Duke rolling in South Florida. Up 58 to 40 with five left. -
