Tressel forwarding emails to TP's mentor

  • LJ
Pryor did what he did, but let's not put the blame on him for the actions of another. Tressel put himself in the situation he is in now. All he had to do was forward the emails to compliance. That's it. They would have served probably 4 games at the beginning of last season and that would be it. People aren't hanging AJ Green for what he did. Let's just be realistic here, Tressel made his own decisions and he will pay the penalty for his own decisions.

How is it not? You think anyone will care about this at the end of the season? doubt it.

BTW What has pitt won? Never see them even sniffing a national championship game.

The Rose and Sugar bowls aren't what they used to be.

Too bad a punk like TP will bring down a good man like Tressel. That's all I'm saying.

Stick to trolling the basement and pro sports forum. You're clearly lost when it comes to college football.

As for the topic, I don't see why this is a big deal? Is it?

    Whats done is done.

He won't be the OSU coach next year. He is done here.

I guess there are rumors going around the internet that Tressel is going to resign today or tomorrow...Smith says untrue

Saw it on Ken Gordons twitter

Some of you will think I am just bashing Pryor and OSU with my question, How is he able to afford the "high end" apartment when he had to sell his stuff for spending money. I know people have said that his mom has her own problems, so I am sure she is of no help with the bills or expenses. I think the longer this goes on, there will be more damaging information that is going to tarnish the school and football team, all because of one player that thinks he is bigger than OSU and really doesn't care who he hurts as long as he gets what he wants. I have stated before that I cheer for OSU but I do believe that you have to be honest with the lack of respect he has shown for this college and the way the staff has tried to make the fans look stupid by wanting them to support them while they have lied since this story broke. Why should anyone stick up for a player or coach that has no respect for the college or the people that support OSU. I don't think a lot of people would be as supportive of their own family members if they continued to lie to their face and showed no respect toward you home while you paid their bills.

There's a reason he chose OSU over Penn st even though his father wanted him to go to Happy Valley. There's your answer to the high end apartment question.

I know more about TP and his actions in Jeannette than you think tough guy.

Huge OSU fan, and always was a big Tressel supporter, but come on, he has to be done now. He used "fear" as an excuse for why he didn't tell his bosses, but contacts some rich business guy who employed Pryor(read:gave him money) because he's his "mentor." It's pretty evident what went on here

My fellow OSU fans are awful quick to throw a 19 year old student under the bus, but when our 50-something year old coach screws the pooch, every excuse in the book comes out. There's no room for an authority figure to at best, accept, and at worst, be involved in, corruption. He should be fired as he has embarrassed himself and the university that employs him. It would send a message that OSU isn't in the game of tolerating this behavior from their coaches, even if everyone else is.

On the other hand, "The Winner's Manual" may be the best comedic book of the 21st century after all this.

To answer your question, does it matter? TP would of sold those rings also.
  • Con_Alma
People get rings when they win the Meineke or BBVA Compass Bowl???? Some things make me say "Wow".

When it is all said and done, Pryor loses eligibility for next year due to other benefits received after NCAA digs deeper, Tressel is done within a month and Myer becomes head coach and then Gene Smith is forced to resign but before he goes, he gets Obama to pressure OSU to let him to keep his job and ask Obama to speak to the NCAA about giving Pryor a second chance, in the end they are done.

As a Buckeye not in Ohio, the news around is quite negative, and I don't see any good coming out of it.
This may bring Tres down, I'm not sure.

If he resigns, I'm not surprised. But, if he stays, next year Tressel should sit all of it out in my view.
He has stained the reputation of the institution, and should be punished for it.
  • Fidmeister
Didn't Ohio State cite confidentiality as the reason Tressel didn't share the information in its self report to the NCAA?

I hope he didn't, because if he did, the NCAA will mop up the floor with Ohio State. (We didn't report any violations to the NCAA towards the end of the year when they did the Compliance Report.)

I guess Tress didn't technically say "I did not forward this email to anybody" but if you read between the lines, that's what he was leading us to believe. He was worried about confidentiality!

Some of you guys see the positive here that he was "afraid for TP" and that is why he told his mentor. I see the opposite here. Why the F is he telling TP's mentor? But not telling Gene Smith?

"Leading us to believe"? By "us", do you mean you? Tressel wouldn't be leading you or us to anything. Are you a friend? Are you a relative? I doubt it. You're a nobody like the rest of us.

Good contribution to the discussion Big Gain.

I agree 100%. TP didnt bring down Tressel he brought it upon himself. Tressel has dome amny great thing both on and off the field while at OSU. I have always been one of his biggest fans I defended Tresselball. I believed he didnt tell anyone due to it being confindential but did believe he shoulda told the NCAA after it was already out in the open in December. Now that it come sout he forwarded the email to TP mentor but not the compliance office that excuse is out the door. WHo woyld you trust more someones mentor or OSU's AD or Compliance office. Tressel needs to go. OSU is gonna get hammered by the NCAA we will lose schloarships and most likly be banned from bowl games. Tressels suspension at the least will be more then five games and might even ban him from recruiting. He needs to step down for the good of OSU. I just hope we can find someone to replace Tressel who can keep the program afloat during the penalties. We might be headed to a couple years that look like Michigan the past couple years.
