Tressel forwarding emails to TP's mentor

LJjordo212000;723858 wrote:Also, I'm not so sure that this mentor guy thing is going to end well. He is a "prominent businessman" that is 67 years old and he befriended TP? Huh? I'm close to TP's age and I can't imagine befriending any dude that is close to 70 years old.
I'm not accusing TP of anything, but if I were an investigative reporter, I might be looking into this guy.
Why? He went on recruiting visits with him, I am pretty sure it has already been looked into. -
thavoiceIts not hte crime....its the coverup!
He said he didnt do anything with the emails because they were part of the federal investigation, but that was a lie.
Have a web of lies here..........each one is a scoop deaper in his own grave. -

The "mentor" makes me nervous, but he's a separate issue and isn't a booster of OSU or have any ties to OSU so it's not really worth worrying about. -

Everyone wanted to ignore Tressel's lies at the press conference, but they are coming to the forefront. Tressel didn't commit a violation by lying to the media and OSU fans at the presser, but I think he insulted everyone's intelligence by saying he didn't know who to turn to and that he didn't go forward because of confidentiality.thavoice;723876 wrote:Its not hte crime....its the coverup!

Ed Martin wasn't a booster either. Look how that turned out. -

Pretty sure it's not an issue and they already had a relationship back in the day. -

If you do a search on Ted Sarniak that's the first thing that comes up. Can't find anything else out there, so not speculating anything, but just wanted to throw it out there. -
LJSarniak has a business in Dublin? Never heard of him

What? Isn't it obvious who you turn to when your best player commits an NCAA violation? You tell the player's mentor and then hide from everybody else who might need to know this information -

Shady? Yes"Mr. Sarniak and Terrelle Pryor have been friends for a number of years, and their friendship dates back prior to Terrelle's enrollment at Ohio State," Archie said in an email to The Dispatch. "As the friendship developed, Mr. Sarniak is someone who Terrelle has reached out to for advice and guidance throughout his high-school and collegiate career."
Archie said the university thoroughly examined the relationship between Sarniak and Pryor before the nation's top college recruit arrived on campus as a freshman in 2008.
Within the rules? Yes -

I won't as quick to say it's not an issue, but it's not worth speculating. Just strange that of all people, he's the one Tressel would contact with the emails. -
thedynasty1998It was Sarniak whose Corvette Pryor was driving around Jeanette correct?

That article scares me, but I question the objectivity. -

I think so, but with the proper prior relationship, it's not an issue. -

I think this may actually become interesting. And LJ, you aren't going to know the illegal stuff going on (if there is any) until it becomes known. No one knew Ed Martin was handing out cash either, but he was. -

Ed Martin didn't have prior relationships with the athletes. -

Might want to read up on your history of that situation. -
OneBuckeyejordo212000;723842 wrote:Ok.. so do you think that he told Gene Smith and the Compliance department about all of this stuff? I hope he didn't, because if he did, the NCAA will mop up the floor with Ohio State. (We didn't report any violations to the NCAA towards the end of the year when they did the Compliance Report.)
I guess Tress didn't technically say "I did not forward this email to anybody" but if you read between the lines, that's what he was leading us to believe. He was worried about confidentiality!
Some of you guys see the positive here that he was "afraid for TP" and that is why he told his mentor. I see the opposite here. Why the F is he telling TP's mentor? But not telling Gene Smith?WebFire;723846 wrote:At least some can see it without bias.
I am not saying he didn't inform smith or the AD and I too hope he didn't. I never said he was afraid for TP and never gave a reason for why he would forward it. But he never said at his press confrence that he didn't forward it to anyone because it was part of the NCAA investigation. Everyone claiming he lied again is wrong because of this and making a hoopla over nothing. Watch the press confrence again and show me where he said he never forwarded this information to anyone. -

They became "friends" while TP was dominating in high school and this guy is a rich, old guy. Nothing about that relationship seems normal or proper -

It's more the Buckeye fans who think the whole thing is no big deal. I think it is a big deal, and those folks will be mightily surprised. -

I have. Ed Martin was determined to be a booster who was also laundering money (or illegal gambling, can't remember) who was paying players.
This guy seems to have a long standing relationship with Pryor that dates back to pre recruitment and he accompianied Pryor on recruiting visits as his mentor. -

I'll say it again. Ed Martin. -

Research it better. Ed Martin was not a booster until the NCAA tournament their freshman year. He was only given booster status by the NCAA because he accepted a free hotel room from the University at the tournament. Prior to that, he was not a booster.
Ed Martin also mentored these players going back to jr. high school. And he also went on recruiting visits. And he was also paying them, or giving them gifts. -

Martin had a relationship with the university -
