Tressel forwarding emails to TP's mentor
-
Terry_TateAlso, as for the 2 game suspension to 5 games, my honest opinion is all along I think the decision was to make Tressel's suspension the same length as the players, but they didn't want to say that in hopes it would get reduced and he'd only have to miss 4 games. Once they said no to the reduction, Tressel and OSU made it 5. I don't think there's any more to it than that.

This is the question I'm really struggling with. Did he contact Posey's father or mother? Did he talk to Pryor direct? The mentor is in PA, and he is supposed to be able to help Pryor out? I just think that maybe Tressel and this businessman know more about Pryor than anyone else.jordo212000;724002 wrote:Another key aspect here... what did Tress hope to accomplish by telling this mentor? Why couldn't he talk to TP himself and express what he told the mentor? What could this mentor actually "do" about this situation?
Why couldn't he tell TP's mom?

Not sure where TP's mom lives, but Pryor lives in the Victorian Village area. Rents a "high end" condo. -
se-alumI hope everyone realizes that OSU and the NCAA already knew this. It won't change anything, just more info about the same incident.

You have just summarized my posts in the first 4 pages of this thread. -

People are starting to get fed up with the lies. She said when the news about the emails going to the mentor came out a guy who works in her office went from a staunch JT supporter who thinks he does no wrong to calling for his head on a platter in about 3 seconds.
This is tearing into the OSU community and causing people to take sides. OSU has to get a handle on this ASAP and make sure no more bombs are dropped. No matter what OSU or the NCAA already knows, the court of public opinion will just get more and more riled up with each new news report.
This is the biggest issue that can will determine Tressel's fate. He always had this squeaky clean image and I think the old guys who support the athletic department bought into it. The Winners Manual and all that is great, however it people start to think it was all just an act, then Tressel loses all the support. If the fans in Columbus don't support the coach, his record is irrelevant. -

Ah I know he lived in the quarry area his freshman year... -

Well, maybe the DP wasn't really mentioned. But OSU fans certainly had their fun with it. Now, I have OSU friends that refuse to even talk about this situation.bigkahuna;723997 wrote:I'm curious as to why you responded this way.
To both, Obviously this goes back to the practicing violations. While I don't think anyone screamed for the DP, I remember several OSU fans getting their jabs in and making statements regarding suspension and what not. The DP was never mentioned, but I understand what the OP was saying. -

Yes they knew, but we didn't. That's why it is the hot topic today. But it certainly could change what we thought the penalty would be. -
WebFireAnd who knows if they'll dig into the "mentor" thing or not. The only way Ed Martin was discovered was when one of the basketball players wrecked his car, and the tie to Martin discovered.
I'm tellin' ya... -
bigkahunaI have some OSU friends that think the same.
I was just wondering why you posted QFT because he was stating what you and I are both thinking of the shoe is on the other foot now, but the shoe is much bigger than when we had it on. -

Thanks for the info. That must be how it works at the bigger universities. I know when Omar Jacobs was at BGSU, he lived in a shitty apartment across the street from my shitty house lol. -

What he was saying is that OSU fans made all kinds of jabs when it was Michigan. But now that it is OSU, they want nothing to do with it. That is the QFT. -

FWIW, (Per the Fab 5 Documentary) Ed Martin was giving kids (Jalen Rose and his teammates) sneakers and other gear when they were in middle school and high school. He was just trying to look out for the young kids, and according to Jalen, it wasn't just the star players that he helped out, it was everyone.
I'm not saying that this guy did the same with Pryor, but an innocent friendship can be just the tip of the ice berg to a full on benefits package. -

Ahh, they dont want to face the reality. When I started the topic about the tatoos for autographs before anyone knew about it, people laughed at me and said nothing would happen. Hmmm, wonder who was right? -

The mentor thing will be looked at...there are just too many offenses of this nature recently (or being talked about recently...Fab 5 documentary) for the NCAA not to look into it. There are so many examples of it now that every "mentor", "adviser", "guardian", "father figure", etc. will pretty much always be looked into by the NCAA. The worst thing a player can do now is to have someone like this in their life (at least one they tell people about). -

Yes, OSU and the NCAA already knew. But this is an interesting twist that could change things. If Tressel's initial defense to the NCAA was the same as what he said in the press conference (not knowing who to turn to and not forwarding it up because of confidentiality) then this is a big problem for him. -
september63He acknowledged he forwarded the emails to someone. When asked, he nodded yes and said, "Umm Hmmm."

Well the shitty house close to campus probably runs 500 or so a month per person or more. I stayed a good 15 minute walk away from north campus and it cost 320 per person in 2004. -
Art ModellLooks like Tressels days at OSU are just about up.

stlouiedipalmaAs for the talk that OSU is not considering firing JT, I've got two names for you:
George McGovern and Thomas Eagleton
1972...check it out.
I'm a big OSU fan and love what Tress has done for the program, but I'm getting the feeling that he will be gone sooner than later. -
sleeperYawn, who cares? Just take away 85 scholarships and have a bunch of walkons beat Michigan instead. The haters will still say it isn't enough, get a life.
-
TiernanHow shitty of a job is Pryor's "mentor" doing? I mean really what kind of "business man" could this tool possibly be? Can you legitimately be called a "business man" just because you are the owner of a Bodega sellin' 40s to crack hos down off Penn Ave?

So if 85 walk ons can beat Michigan...how many walk ons does it take to beat Notre Dame? 20?
