How Much Trouble Is OSU and Tressel in Now?!

Like I said, I can see if he got the information before the raid they would want him to keep quiet so they didn't tip of Rife and have him move all the stuff out. But after the raid, they have their evidence and Rife (and anyone that he is associated with) know that the feds are on to them. So Tressel coming forward wouldn't mess anything up at that point.
At that point, they (the players) were already out of the picture. They didn't have anything to do with the drugs at all, hell, the feds knew before they raided the house about the memorabilia, Cicero's email said as much, they just wanted them out of the way.."tattoo parlor off limits" -

This. And why do we know or speculate this?
1. Gee and Smith total support
2. Only 2 game suspension with 250K fine.
If Tress was hiding this since April for no reason but to hide so players could play season...he would have been shit canned in a heart beat. -

The feds knew about the memorabilia prior to the raid? You do realize Cicero emailed Tressel AFTER the raid right?
How can you continue to criticize people for not sticking to facts yet do it yourself? You keep ignoring this question. -

I still don't understand what you mean by total support? They work with him, or course they support him. Doesn't mean he didn't screw up.
Maybe Gene Smith thought it was sufficient. The NCAA will end up deciding that.
Based on the "facts" you last sentence is the only way to comprehend this. I agree that there is something more to it, but for people to say stick to the facts yet throw out these conspiracy theories is funny. -

Unless I'm mistaken, Cicero said they knew about the stuff already in the email...I'm too lazy to look it up, if I'm wrong you can prove it, and I'll say so. -

No more funny than the bullshit you have been spewing out for the past few days. Believe it or not, you're know better nor do you know more than anyone else. Just because we have a different theory, actually a very viable one that makes complete sense, doesn't mean we are wrong. -
thedynasty1998Very viable is debatable.
What exactly is my view? -

Lawyer regrets warning Tressel

COLUMBUS — The lawyer who tipped off Ohio State coach Jim Tressel that two of his players were involved in a federal drug trafficking case has received death threats and now says he regrets ever contacting the Buckeyes coach.
"I'm not the Judas in this situation. You know, I feel like Peter, but I'm not the Judas," attorney Christopher Cicero said in an interview yesterday with ESPN's Outside The Lines.
Tressel has admitted he violated NCAA rules for not disclosing information Cicero e-mailed to him.
In the first e-mail from Cicero, at 2:32 p.m. on April 2, 2010, Cicero said Ohio State players were giving autographed Buckeyes football shirts, jerseys, and footballs to a Columbus tattoo-parlor owner who was under investigation by the U.S. Attorney in a drug-trafficking case.
"Just passing this on to you," Cicero wrote.
Exactly four hours later, Tressel replied: "Thanks. I will get on it ASAP."
However, the coach did not tell Smith or anyone in his compliance department.
Cicero said he had received death threats since his role in Tressel's NCAA violation came to light.
"I wanted him to know that the kids had been hanging out with a person who was the subject of a federal investigation," Cicero said when asked why he told Tressel about the players' relationship with Eddie Rife, the owner of the tattoo parlor.
"As a result of that, I also heard that they had been exchanging memorabilia with this particular person. And I outlined that in the e-mail. I threw it out there, quite frankly, it was just to tell him [Tressel] that that's what it was." -

What does that have to do with the fact that I said Cicero told JT that the feds knew about the memorabilia prior to raiding the house?
You said I was mistaken, when in fact, you were wrong again.

The federal agents may have known prior to, but in the first email...dated April 2nd...Cicero writes:
"When the Federal Government raided his house yesterday, they seized 70,000 in cash and a lot of Ohio State memorabilia; including championship rings."
He goes on to say that he is being told that Pryor and Posey were selling their stuff to Rife.
So the federal agents knew about the stuff prior to, as pointed out in the p.s.s.s. that you mentioned earlier. But the email came through the day after the raid took place. So Tressel found out after the raid had already taken place. -

Yeah, I know that, but what we don't know is when the feds notified OSU when they knew about the stuff, I won't assume anything, but it could very well have been prior to Cicero's email which would have pre-dated the raid. I realize how much of an apologist I'm appearing, it doesn't matter, but were that the case, then a lot of this is for naught, and damn, I hope so. -

Why can you continue to speculate, but you want others to stick to the "facts". Everything that has been said would make one think that the Feds raided Rifes house, found OSU memorabilia, Tressel was contacted by Cicero, then OSU was informed of investigation; in that order. -

Because I acknowledge the possibility that what others say may be a possibility, you don't. It's your stated opinion as fact that gets you zero credibility...of course nothing new.
You don't even acknowledge you were COMPLETELY wrong about the feds knowing about the memorabilia prior to the house invasion...saying I was "mistaken"...sorry chief...you're an idiot as proven ad nauseum. -

How was I wrong? The Feds have stated that they raided the house of Rife and found the memorabilia and then contacted OSU because they believed it to be stolen. Cicero emailed Tressel the DAY AFTER the house was raided.
And yes, I refuse to believe the conspiracy theories that say the Feds forced Tressel to lie to the NCAA. It's just dumb. -
passwordIt really makes no difference when the Feds knew about the memorabilia because it is not a federal crime to own sports memorabilia. It sounds like the lawyer was just trying to help Tressel out by telling him who was selling the stuff to Rife and hoped that Tressel would tell the players to stay away from him.Has anyone ever thought that Tressel talked to the 2 players and told them to stop their association with Rife and told them to keep quiet about all of this and he would hide it from the school because it would cause the NCAA to suspend them and he did not want to ruin his season.

I could see that happening.
And I know that it doesn't matter when the Feds knew about the memorabilia, but ytown wants to act like he's the only one that is allowed to be a voice on this issue, and he's just dead wrong on the Fed part. -
passwordAnother theory for all the OSU cult members, maybe Tressel is not only God but he was secretly sworn in as a Federal Agent and was obligated to stay quite about the investigation because of the contract he signed with the Feds.

We all have an opinion but on this site you are wrong unless you agree with Tressel being right in his actions and agree to not talk down on the Greatest D1 College in the Columbus area. -

None as idiotic as saying the Feds forced Tressel to lie to the NCAA.
