These are just the self-imposed sanctions. The NCAA can, and may come down much harder.

Regardless, JT is still the coach at OSU.

Disappointed in Tressel. Two games is a little harsh, but Buckeyes deal with adversity well. Props to OSU for addressing and applying a punishment instantly instead of trying to get out of it like the entire SEC and other programs.

So he got told not to talk and he is now in trouble?

    What? Drug trafficking?

Joe Schad said he wouldn't be at all surprised if the NCAA added on to the self-imposed sanctions. Brought up Tressel strong-arming the players who broke rules to return and said those words will be thrown up in his face now. I think this case is far from closed.

They knew in January and waited until the day it became public to self report. Hardly addressing it in a timely fashion.

I'm sure those two scrimmages will be a ton of adversity.

The federal case against someone involved with the tattoo parlor was still on going and the lawyer who was the informant in these e-mails to Tressel stressed the confidentiality in this information. For this Tressel says he didn't go to anyone else with this information when in hindsight he should have consulted OSU's legal team.

Didn't quote it but this was meant for Tiger2003 up top but a lot of ppl replied in between.

I just hope the NCAA accepts the self imposed sanctions and that it is a done deal, we shall see.

When it's Akron and Toledo and you make what Jim Tressel makes, it sure as shit is.

OSU worked with consultants, as well as past precendence in similar situations to come up with these penalties. The NCAA could do more....but I doubt it. OSU self reported as well.

No they knew in January and there has been an investigation going on since then. They only had a press conference because someone leaked the info to Yahoo.

The credibility hit is far more damaging to Tress than the 2 games or the fine.

    From jon thoma:

Wow. This is one of the most dramatic half hours of my life. Tress was fighting back tears. This is INTENSE.

Yea, cause OSU started their investigation in January and the Yahoo report came out yesterday. The process had been started long before Yahoo was involved.

So the email was about drugs and selling clothing? Something does not add up. The NCAA will now investigate this and see what the email said exactly and then either throw the hammer down or be ok with the current sanctions.
