It's not that we don't want Denard. But I want Denard to be QB if he is the better QB. Devin is going to be good and will be better than Denard at QB at some point. But that point may be sooner than later.

    You're absolutely right! lol.

This is kind of what I was getting at with my post that you quoted. I love Denard and know that he's a special player, but I don't want to "waste" Devin's talent either. If Devin is better right now, I want to see him on the field. Obviously everyone wants them to maximize their talent and play to the highest potential. If that means having Denard start the next 2 seasons and Devin only getting 1 season as the starter then so be it. If that means having Devin as a 3 year starter and Denard riding the bench until graduation, then so be that.

After the spring game, I think Devin's chances are much better.

LB Royce Jenkins-Stone (Detroit Cass Tech) committed to Michigan today. This is going to be a very good LB class.

RJS is going to be expected to heavily recruit other Michigan talent with his early commitment. Glad he got it done quick, hopefully he sticks unlike a lot of guys the last 2 years.

It looked like he was picking up on the new offense better than Denard was. I was at the game (the scoreboards are gone, so the announcers were hard to hear) The 2 people who do the radio broadcasts were doing the announcing, but did the people mention on tv or do you know why we were missing 3 starters on defense (or what I thought were starters) 1. JT Floyd 2. Trent Worfolk 3. Ryan Van Bergan.

Keep in mind Devin went too that Devin went against the 2s most of the day and Denard went against the 1s. That might of had some impact on performance.

The most important thing is that the Defense looked a lot better than before even with the same players on the field as last year.

*Troy Wolfolk. Still recovering from the ankle injury.

    WTF was I thinking?

I'm ashamed to be a fan...

I thought that was maybe the case with him and that Floyd was still recovering from his ankle injury. I then found out that Van Bergen had a "booboo" as one of the coaches called it during the post Spring Game presser lol

KY QB Zeke Pike is expected to announce his intentions Wednesday. Michigan was a strong favorite for Pike, but there are worries now since he is announcing so soon after a final visit to Auburn. This kid would be a huge pickup for Michigan. He's a big, tall QB (6'5", 235 lbs) and seems a good fit for the Hoke offense.

I guess they are looking into Maty Mauk from Kenton is what I heard recently.

ESPN may be carrying one of kenton's games live to showcase the young star.

I would guess that one of Kiel, Mauk, or Pike will end up at Michigan and another will end up In South Bend. Once one of them commits to either school one of the others will commit to the other. I haven't followed UMs recruiting unless it deals with ND targets, how big is the 2012 class supposed to be?

Mauk will end up at ND, almost certainly. I don't want Mauk at Michigan, I don't think he fits. If UM doesn't land Pike, they have Shane Morris in the '13 class that is almost a lock. They are now saying the Devin is likely to receive his medical redshirt, which if true, means we don't have to take another QB in this class. We have Bellomy coming in this fall.

    I have no idea.

I follow recruiting like i follow the potato harvest in Idaho....i really dont care at all!!! Just was told that Mauk, who most figured was going to ND because of kelly and Maty's brother Benny.........was also looking at Michigan. Only interest I have in it is that Kenton's game vs my alma matre is in the running to be on ESPN live.

I don't think its a certainty at this point for Mauk to end up at ND. If Kiel commits, I'd expect Kelly to tell Mauk there isn't room for another QB in the class. Still need to build depth at other positions and there are 3 QB's on the roster now (4 if you count Massa) that still have 3 or more years of eligibility.

And I do agree that Mauk doesn't fit Hoke's offense very well, but he still is pretty talented.

My honest opinion is that he is mid-major talented, or maybe a Cincinnati or Pitt level school.

Also, didn't Javon Ringer go to Dayton CJ? I was kind of shocked that his brother goes to Northmont; I figured he'd be at DCJ too.

As was expected the last few days, Zeke Pike chooses Auburn. His salary has not yet been disclosed.

Northmont used to suck balls when I went there, since their new coach came from Wayne in 2000 I believe they have become a Dayton powerhouse. Javon is not brothers with Kaleb though, he's his uncle. Now players actually come into Northmont district to play when they used to leave. I believe in 1999 they had about 30 kids on the team, for a school of 2000 that was nuts.

I highly doubt any big time QB commits to Michigan until they see
    1. just what offense Hoke runs
    2. if Gardner looks like he's gonna be under center the next 4 years
  • karen lotz
Mauk says he will commit within the next month.
  • karen lotz
Gardner will only have two years left, unless he redshirts this fall right?

They applied for a medical redshirt that will most likely be granted.
  • karen lotz
Ah didn't know that. My bad.
