2011 Michigan Recruiting

Trueblue23Cam Gordon has look good in spring ball, could be a good SAM LB.
Mix him in with guys like Furman and Marvin Robinson... the talent is there. Furman can fly. -
WebFireOhio LB Kaleb Ringer will announcing Friday that he is attending Michigan. This kid should be a 4* when the ratings are released.
-
daveRinger goes to my former HS, glad to see Javon didn't talk him into MSU. I've seen him play 4 or 5 times and he's a beast, best player at Northmont since Kurt Coleman. I'll be sure to report what I see when I watch him play this fall.

I don't believe MSU even offered Ringer. -
bo shemmy3337Not a huge surprise with ringer but still a good grab.

talked with Joe Palka (Wormley's HS coach) a couple of weeks ago, and he said Chris is definitely not a lock at michigan--he's leaning that way, but nothing's set in stone -

I guess for that particular recruit. Duh. -
vball10setfwiw, I think Hoke's going to kick ass on the recruiting trail--JT needs to reinforce that fence around Ohio

bigkahunaAnyone else going to the Spring Game this weekend?
-
WebFireI wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of Devin Gardner this fall, and possibly even the starter as some point. Reports from camp have Devin with a really great spring, and Denard struggling in the pocket. Now it is early, but spring can be very telling sometimes.
One trusted observer even said he thinks Devin could be a first round NFL QB, that's how good he is. Another said he had the pocket presence and footwork that Chad Henne had his senior year. And this kid is only a sophomore.
Hopkins and Cox seem to be head and shoulders about the rest right now. The defense is playing hungry. Man I can't wait until September! -
bo shemmy3337The thing with Ohio is there is a lot of talent in the state and OSU cannot take them all. It is mostly a numbers game and Michigan is going to get some good talent out of Ohio no matter what. There are always 3 and 4 star players who have to go elsewhere in Ohio and a lot have gone up north in the past and always will. Same goes for the state of Michigan.

bigkahunaI know!
It just keeps sounding better and better. -
goblue44688Looks like the Spring Game will be shown live on BTN.

Helps Prowess? The 7th most relevant football program in the Big Ten? -

Wow, that is an intelligent post. So teams never get better than where they finished the year before? Good thing the Buckeyes didn't listen to you in 2001. Or 2004. -
Trueblue23Sounds like Zeke Pike might be a Wolverine sooner rather than later.. he sounds like a pretty intelligent kid to me.
I'm stoked for this season. Personally, I'd love to see Gardner at QB and Denard at RB... if he put some muscle on. -
bigkahunaDenard is going to be in 1 of the places this year with only 2 of them being actual possibilities.
1. QB
2. Slot
3. Bench
I could see them maybe doing some packages with both of them BUT if a much more "liberal" offense didn't do it, I couldn't see a more pro style doing it either.
Speaking of Devin, was he granted a medical redshirt or is he a true sophomore. Obviously it'd bode better for the immediate future of the program if he were a RS Freshman. -

This is according to Rivals.. apparently they changed the whole injury redshirt deal.. a player can play out his eligibility like normal, then apply for the RS after his senior year.. retarded if you ask me. -
WebFireDevin won't know about his redshirt until his senior year, which seems really dumb. I don't think Denard will play anything other than QB or bench. They can't afford to have their only real backup QB get hurt, so it wouldn't be worth the risk.
-
bigkahunaYes that is really dumb. As much as I like Denard, I want to see what Devin can do, and I want to see it soon ( as do a lot of others). It just stinks that our starter is pretty decent and a junior, while the "future" of the program is just as good and a sophomore. It's possible to lose both of them at the same time (Next season) with one graduating and one leaving early. I really can't see Devin leaving early, but it's a possibility that will hurt.

But it's much better than having Steven Threet, Nick Sheridan and David Cone. -
OneBuckeyeI think you guys are nuts for not wanting Denard to be your QB. Obviously he would be good in the slot, but you have enough of those guys I would think.
