IN reality, no one gets their pick of a coach anymore. At least all of us knowitall interenet folk who think we know who a pick should be, that is. And who knows who their pick was or is anyways? And my comment was made with respect to Harbaugh being a Michigan guy, former player. Multiple NFL jobs open up EVERY year. Its not very often that a place like Mich, your alma mater opens up. Timing is everything. But Harbaugh has a LOAD of options right now. Tough decisions for him, but a great time in his life as well I am sure. -
wildcats20I'm wondering if this could become a Roy Williams to Carolina situation.
Says no at first and then a couple years later they ask him again and he can't turn it down. -

Was actually thinking that myself. His options are so broad right now he can leap the NFL but if he doesn't succeed like he did in his last college gig he can come back to college with open arms from a place like Michigan. -
wildcats20And let's be honest, it could be a 3-4 years before anything positive comes out of Michigan.
That is enough time for him to go to the League, fail, and come back home to AA. -

fixed -
Fab1bMichigan isn't a good situation for a coach to walk into right now. Most coaches won't run RR's offense so those players there will be forced to change systems and that hurts, then you have the mess on defense! Another lower tier (or less big named like Hoke) coach could come up the ranks and help clear that way for a coach like Harbaugh in a few years. Also the pressure to win now vs rebuild it is greater than ever at UM right now. Alum won't stand for another 2 - 3 years of building back up from a guy like Harbaugh where they might from let say Hoke.

chicago510John Harbaugh confirmed to Ravens' media that his brother has little interest in the Michigan job.
Seems like Brandon has as much of a clue as RichRod does about how to run things up there in Ann Arbor.
Pathetic. -

This.
I really think that Brandon was worried about the buy out and wanted to save some money. You'll find 1.5 million in your couch in the AD office at the University of Michigan.
I could see Harbaugh pulling a Pete Carroll, John Calipari, Rick Patino... Being successful in college, being in over your head in the pros, and then coming back to be great in college yet again.
If we can't get Harabaugh now, let's wait and let Rodriguez finish out his contract. By that time, Harbaugh will come back to college with his tail between his legs from the league, and Michigan will be waiting. -
bigkahunaI was kind of excited for Dave Brandon to come be the AD at UofM, but I'm starting to get pissed at him for being a dumb ass.
He could have come out and said that Rich Rod was gone at the end of the season. This is just pissing me off. We are slowly becoming the laughing stock of College Football. -

Is UM responsible for the premature incorrect reports of the media? Not IMHO -

It will be kinda hard for him to finish out his contract now that he has been fired.bigkahuna;624812 wrote:If we can't get Harabaugh now, let's wait and let Rodriguez finish out his contract. se-alumThis pretty much sums up the situation:
It's like he's hanging upside-down over the cauldron while cannibals argue over the recipe. -

Hahaha y'all are -
ptown_trojans_1This is turning into 2007 all over again for Michigan. This is a PR nightmare.

You're right. However, the situation is being handled sloppily. Either fire the guy or don't. This PC "Waiting until the end of the season to evaluate him" is BS. Maybe I'm more upset about the media's perception and continuous dogging of the University lately. -

I meant Dave. I fixed it. Just getting annoyed with Greg, Dave, and Richard that I'm getting them confused. -

You sure about that? He may be, he may not be. ESPN just put their foot in their mouth. -
Trueblue23He's fired, just not "officially" yet.. I think they want Harbaugh or Hoke in place before the announcement comes down, not to mention the assistants were out recruiting today.

They wanted to see if Harbaugh would come first and he wouldn't talk before the Orange bowl. Now they are deciding if it's worth paying $2.5mil for Brady or someone like him or riding out another year of RR. -
bigkahunaWell, wouldn't they be let go as well? It seems like they would be "wasting" their time.
-
WebFireAs of late Jan. 3rd, Harbaugh and Michigan hadn't talked. Apparently that was at the request of Harbaugh. He's not completely out of the equation yet, though the chances are lower than just a few days ago.

Trueblue23I still think Denard Robinson will be the starting QB at Michigan next year.

Regardless of who is coaching....
Is there really another option??
