2011 Michigan Recruiting

number one RR is not gone yet but I do expect him to leave. However the meeting today must have went well as he is still the Michigan coach. If RR comes back Denard will the QB if JH comes in than Devin will be the starter IMO as he is the best option for the future for an offense that JH runs. I expect a good season next year either way as most the players are not going anywhere as most the starters were sophomores and Juniors and I don't see them transferring now.

Well as soon as the firing is "official" Michigan has to think about the players they do have on the roster at this time......

It was going to take 3-4 years before RR was going to be successful, because he had to get the right guys in to run his system, Now UM faces the decision to hire a new coach. They have to decide what kind of coach and football they want to play. If they bring in another spread offensive coach they shouldn't miss a beat, just get some new defensive players and a different coordinator. The minute they try to change the offensive philosophy, that is when it takes time to produce a winning team. Harbaugh would be lucky to win 6-7 games with his offensive system that he likes to run....I think UM has to hire a spread offensive guy and just build on what RR already has started for Michigan.

Hard to believe anything right now. Harbaugh and Michigan hadn't even talked as of Jan. 3 evening. At Harbaugh's request. So how could he have decided before then that he wasn't going there?

This whole thing just makes me think back to "Les Miles to Michigain."

The alumni have to be ready to kill the AD. This shouldn't be happening at UM.

...you'd think someone in the Pizza biz could figure out a way not to fuck up a free lunch. Love seeing scUM and all the scUMMers with egg all over their faces...AGAIN !!!

I don't mind saying it, Webbie, but this university deserves better--just make a decision and move on.

This has been a crazy situation. I would like to believe that the media wouldn't mess this up twice and this time it is legit. Joe Schad just said on ESPN that Brandon was hoping that Rich Rod would just resign yesterday.

As an OSU fan, I was really hoping Michigan could get Harbaugh. The reason why, because the conference needs to upgrade their coaching staff. You can compare Big Ten players, style, speed, whatever to the SEC, but the one thing they 100% have an advantage over the Big Ten is coaching.

No way he is doing that and losing out on the money.

Better than Harbaugh or better than the process?

They deserve better than Rich Rod. I don't think they have done anything wrong in this process, yet. But they better make the right hire this time around.

definitely the process, especially the last couple of days--I don't know too many candidates better than Harbaugh

O I agree. It would make no sense to lose out on 2.5 million dollars.

What should they have done differently? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I think they have moved fairly fast for the time line they originally established.

Chortle chortle, chuckle chuckle. You can't make this kinda shit up.
  • jordo212000
Weird that they would go out of their way to squash rumors involving his dismissal and then turn around and fire him the next morning

I honestly believe there is no where to go but up for Michigan. I was adamant about the RRod hire being a terrible hire just like the Charlie Weis hire was absolutely terrible. I think both programs have no where to go but up. Programs as big and well equipped with facilities, tradition and fan support are going to eventually be successful again.

I'm more or less referring to the apparent lack of support given to the coaching staff in the weeks leading up to the bowl game. I know that there's a lot of stuff that goes on behind closed doors, and things aren't always as they appear-but I don't like it when a coach is left hanging...and yesterday's "yes he is, no he isn't" just sorta' capped it off. Again, this is just how I perceived the whole thing.

Whether it's true or not, saying that you don't think JH is going to come to UM because he's going to the NFL doesn't make you look good. I just didn't like the way he said that.

The way he is talking, it sounds like he is looking at Hoke.
