  Yesterday was people in the media jumping the gun. Michigan was going to fire him, but as of yesterday, he was not fired yet.
  
  Brandon stated all along he was going to wait until after the bowl game to evaluate the season. He stuck to his word. Whether Rich Rod actually had a chance to save his job in the bowl game, no one will know, but if it was up in the air at that point, he lost it then.

  DB just called Harbaugh a "Michigan Man" and that he talks to him all the time...Who knows what all that means. IMO, DB is waiting on JH to make his decision or to notify Stanford.

  Not sure of what the context was of that statement, but I'm surprised he would even address Harbaugh. By even addressing him in that regard, I have a feeling it will be Harbaugh or bust now.

  Orrville i agree but i would put alot of money on UM going after a pro style coach and not someone who runs the spread they want a michigan man who run a michigan offense i think at best this sets them back only 2 years

  Just because Brandon stated that was his timeline doesn't make it right. The only way this process isn't severely flawed is if they do land Harbaugh.

  It didn't take Harbaugh long to turn Stanford around. I would think with the resources he would have at Michigan he would be able to turn them around too.

  actually Harbaugh went 4-8 and 5-7 his first two years there and 8-5 his third year there

  What is the benefit of firing Rich Rod prior to the Bowl game? If Harbaugh is the target, he wasn't going to talk to them prior to their BCS game anyways.

  I would like to see Michigan het Harbaugh, but if he isn't interested I would go for Chris Peterson from Boise state.

  Or Les Miles. The Cotton Bowl isn't until Friday or Saturday.
  
  As a UK Basketball fan (No, I'm not a band wagon fan), this is eerily similar to the Billy Gillespie fiasco. Kentucky had a "legend" leave (T.Smith) and decided to settle for a hot name (Billy G) instead of getting "their guy," which could have been Donovan, Coach Cal, or someone else. Two years later, after a bad first season and then missing the tourney for the first time in a LONG time, he gets fired because he wasn't a real good fit to begin with. He didn't have the personality to be at Kentucky. The 2nd time around, Kentucky took a nice deep breathe and realized that there was 1 guy and 1 guy only that would fit the mold of a Kentucky Coach, and that was John Calipari. Kentucky is now a dominate force yet again.
  
  Fast Forward a few years and travel up north to Ann Arbor. A legend leaves in Lloyd Carr. A lot of people thought that Les Miles was sitting in Baton Rouge waiting for a phone call and a place ticket for the Big House. Instead, Michigan goes after a hot name at the time (Rich Rodriguez). From the start, people are confused and angered by the hire (much like UK with BG) but are going to support their head coach because they are loyal to the program. A short time later, and it is clear that this isn't a good fit. This time around, Michigan is going to do it right and get THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB.
  
  I really do think that it's either going to be Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles on the Michigan sidelines come next season. Much like Kentucky, Michigan has learned/remembered that not and Tom, DICK, or Harry can fit the mold of a coach for their program. They're get it right this time.
  
  Now don't get me wrong, I was a strong Rodriguez supporter for the sole reason that he was the coach of my favorite team. As long as he was the Michigan coach, I was going to support and cheer for him. However, I do think that it was time. Was the defense young and riddled with injuries? Yes. However, this isn't some Sun Belt team where the only talent is what's on the field. There is no reason that the 2 Deep shouldn't have gotten it done. He kept saying that the cupboard was bare when he got here. Well, that cupboard was full of decent defensive players. As those players left, the defense got worse, so maybe Lloyd left him with more than he thought.

  To add. I'm not saying that the Michigan job is some job at the top of the mountain all by itself. It's one of those premier jobs that takes a special person to coach it (OSU, Bama, FLA, Texas...) There are probably 5-10 jobs that require a special person.

  Would Pelini leave Nebraska? Seems he may be wearing on some of the powers that be out there and this would be as good a time as any to bolt.
  
  Not sure about Peterson, would his offense work any better week in and out in a big conference or is it just quirkey enough to work the 1 or 2 times a season they play a big conf. team?
  
  Patterson from TCU should at least get a phone call to check his interest, but the longer this goes on the more likley it will be Hoke at UM.
