Calling out sleeper

vball used to get upset about us talking about Ohio State, and I think he realized we never said anything bad about how the team is, just comparing similar situations. I don't see anything wrong with comparing Tressel's career up to 2001 with Brian Kelly. I don't see anything wrong with comparing schedules. I don't see anything wrong with saying Ohio State would have trouble if Pryor, Herron, Posey, Stoneburner, and a slew of defenders were out. The fans who don't get so fucking offended say "yeah, Notre Dame has had a rash of injuries to a learning team and it's been a real issue for them." Simple as that. Plus unlike many of the people on here i will have a degree from Ohio State's Knowlton School of Architecture so I believe I can say anything I want about my school if I feel like it. But I can promise you I do not lie and I am not overly hyperbolic when stating my opinions.
Instead you have assholes like sleeper blatantly lying about Notre Dame (AND Ohio State) and those of us who appreciate factual conversations will correct him every time. I don't care if that's what he's after, when someone goes uncorrected it starts to become accepted as fact when it simply isn't. Make no mistake, all of this is 100% sleeper/ccrunner/tiernan's fault. Sleeper and tiernan do it for kicks. ccrunner though know nothing about football; literally zero knowledge of the sport--I'd like to be the fly on the wall when he tries to explain it in gym class.
I can promise you that if sleeper, ccrunner, and tiernan stopped posting on Notre Dame threads that the amount of ND-OSU banter would decrease by 99%. No question.
Well, suffering you are on this board...70% of posts are dedicated to defending yourselves at the behest of a few. Though I stand firm on not using Ohio State as you base for comparisons sake, you're fucking Notre Dame. You compare yourself to past Domers, not OSU, not Texas, not USC, Grambling or Wichita State. You give the appearance of being second rate.
On a side note, and I don't care who you root for, but I honestly feel you've sold yourself short by attending OSU and cheering for the Domers. You may enjoy the games here and there, but you sold your michigan ticket "it just doesn't interest me.". Did you jump in Mirror Lake? How many Skull sessions have you been to? Did you miss celebrating any Buckeye victories when ND was on at 8 pm? You'll never get chills when TBDBITL does Script Ohio. I could not imagined myself having attended The Ohio State University and not enjoyed, nor have the memories I have that you'll not appreciate nearly as much as I do now had you bought into the program. I actually, as the magnanimous one I am, feel bad for you. But good luck with the degree anyway. -

I was in the same boat, a Notre Dame fan at OSU. I did enjoy the games because I enjoy college football in general and I knew I was lucky to be able to see 5 years (switched major at end of freshman year) worth of games at Ohio Stadium. It usually worked out well when OSU would play at noon and I'd be able to get back to the dorm/apartment by 2:30 or 3:30 for the ND game. I didn't choose to go to Ohio State because of the football team so I was still able to enjoy my time there for the most part. -

ytownfootballBut you understand the point I assume. I didn't go for the football either, though I had been a Buckeye fan throughout my yoot, being a part of the traditions that coincide with it were enhanced a lot more than I ever anticipated. I couldn't imagine not reveling in those memories for the rest of my life.

If you disagree with his schedule strength rankings, and since we've established that there are no perfect SOS rankings, so don't just tell us why his rankings are crap, because the argument isn't really about his rankings. The argument is about whether Notre Dame played a difficult or an easy schedule, and Karen provided Sagarin's rankings as proof that they played a difficult schedule. If you think Notre Dame played a week schedule don't just call Sagarin's ratings crap, provide other schedule rankings that prove Notre Dame played a weak schedule as you claim.
He has Washington as the #1 toughest schedule in the College Football and he has the entire Pac 10 in the top 13.
Here is Washington's schedule http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/264/washington-huskies.

All of my coworkers at the Union sold theirs too. I didn't feel like standing in the students section alone, OSU fucked up placing me with all of my buddies in 11C. Cash > Boredom. Yes, the game was boring. Just as the Marshall, Miami, Penn State games I went to.ytownfootball;580994 wrote: but you sold your michigan ticket "it just doesn't interest me."

Objective, and false. I appreciate amazing traditions when I see them.ytownfootball;580994 wrote:You'll never get chills when TBDBITL does Script Ohio.
Glenville pride! I just don't like Pryor at all so it's tough for me to get excited. I don't root against them, I just don't care if they win or lose.ytownfootball;580994 wrote:I could not imagined myself having attended The Ohio State University and not enjoyed, nor have the memories I have that you'll not appreciate nearly as much as I do now had you bought into the program.
None of this is really a big deal. I sold my UM ticket to a Michigan State alumnus who was a gigantic Buckeye fan. Shit like that happens. -
lhslep134Ytown,
Just because sjmvsfscs08 did or didn't do any of those things doesn't mean he "sold himself short" at all. For you to think that just because he attends here means he A. has to care about OSU football or B. partake in anything and absolutely meaning it in the context of life (since you said self yourself short, and mention "chills") is the most asinine and idiotic thing I have read on this entire thread.
People attend college for education, not to get "chills" when they see script ohio. For you to call him out for selling his ticket to make extra money and because he'd be bored is completely off base as well. Am I any less of a Buckeye because I also thought the game was boring?
Get a clue dude. Sports isn't everything. -
krambman-Society-;581043 wrote:You have had too long of a break. Someones steak is getting cold.
Seriously, why do you think I work at Applebees? I have never worked there.
And why do you feel the need to personally attack me on here? What have I ever done or said to piss you off so much? -
CinciX12I went to the game, had better seats than the majority who want to blow TP, and was bored as living shit. I wished after the first quarter (the game wasn't a blow out by then) that I had sold the tickets for about $250 a piece.

lhslep, maybe you missed this I don't know, but it pretty much addresses what point you're questioning me about.

Read some more dude, this thread has a lot of fail in it. Not a coincidence that you also are a Florida fan, and feel somewhat encroached upon with my comments, again I don't care who one cheers for. "Sold yourself short" I guess was poor phrasing, but it's just that, a phrase. The point remains the same. Look, I don't expect you to understand, all I can say is that I look back on my time there 20+ years ago and appreciate it more every fucking season. You're still living it. You'll not agree and I expect that, and realize I won't change your mind. Likewise, you'll not change mine.A. has to care about OSU football or B. partake in anything and absolutely meaning it in the context of life (since you said self yourself short, and mention "chills") is the most asinine and idiotic thing I have read on this entire thread
All I'm saying is your experience could have been much more rewarding down the road. -

I looked for tickets all week and honestly couldn't believe how expensive they are. Last year Michigan was trying to get into a bowl game and I got a ticket for $70 and the average ticket was around $100. This year on Craigslist the average for non-upgraded student tickets was between $100-$150. -

Yeah I know a few people who couldn't even get the non-upgraded seats for less than that. Mine on the 40 yd line in row 10 of AA probably could have got me a decent amount. I bit on Denard Robinson growing up and thought maybe I'd at least see a good game. -

I understand what you are saying, especially from an OSU fan's perspective. I don't think anyone is selling themselves short for being a Notre Dame fan who is also an OSU student/alum though. I got out of OSU what I wanted and got to see one of the top football programs in the country play at one of the top venues in the country. I also got to see some good basketball teams at a nice (although not top venue in country) new facility.ytownfootball;581029 wrote:But you understand the point I assume. Like I said above, selling short was bad phrasing, merely mean it's unfortunate. Value City is nice, just not as fan friendly/opposition imposing as St. John. I loved games there...Stokes, Taylor, good crowds. -

Yeah I responded to your post before I read the rest of the thread. And I still see from your perspective how it would be unfortunate or whatever other way you want to say it. I'd say the same thing about a Notre Dame student being a Michigan fan (see how I didn't use OSU there? ). For me personally it wasn't unfortunate, I was still able to have fun and make friends and memories and all that stuff. I went down to Mirror Lake a few times, went in once but it wasn't til later in the evening when it was at its craziest. We had a flag football championship game and then I had to drink about 10 Budweisers before I could be convinced to jump in.ytownfootball;581149 wrote:Like I said above, selling short was bad phrasing, merely mean it's unfortunate. lhslep134Ytown you can spin your post however you want, you clearly meant what you meant.
Your point is that he didn't get the same enjoyment you did, and NO SHIT, you're a Buckeye fan and he's a ND fan. But that's fine.
The only problem I have with your post is it's clear condescending nature, and now your subsequent spin after I called you out on it.
I understand your points you were trying to make, and as a Buckeye fan I know what you're talking about the chills, just like I get chills listening to Cie Grant sing Carmen Ohio, but I think you're transposing that everyone who attends this university should feel the same way as you and that anyone who doesn't is somehow less. -
ytownfootballFuck you lep, I don't spin a mother fuckin thing. If you don't like it too fucking bad ya little bitch.
call me out, what the fuck are you calling me out on? Your inability to understand the written word?
I'm ENTITLED to have a small degree of condescension when someone refers to me as magnanimous in a clearly condescending manner you fuck. And a very small degree it was. -

St. John's is a dump. Value City Arena isn't perfect, nor is it set up the way I would have done it, but it is still worlds better than St. John's.
The problem with Value City Arena is that there are far too many seats and they cater to the old people way too much. They treated students like second citizens by stashing them in the rafters. Hard to get excited about the game when your nose is bleeding. -
karen lotzThey have reconfigured the seating for the student section this year. I believe it wraps halfway around the lower bowl now, including the area behind both teams' benches.

It's St. John...not Johns like a toilet. I would agree that Value City is more accommodating for everyone involved but far less intimidating to the opponent like St. John. I thought there was a push to get the student section closer to the floor this season? -
