Is Homosexuality a Choice or Are You Born That Way?

No man or woman would say they made a choice to fall in love with their spouse (or that they chose to no longer love them!). Why then would you say a man who fell in love with another man made a choice to do so?
Did I choose to fall in love with my wife? To an extent. Did I choose to act upon that and have sex with her and marry her? Of course I did.

My uncle is gay. He had girlfriends in high school, but he just said there was no feeling. He wouldn't wish his life upon anyone...he says it's hell. He also doesn't think gay couples should be able to get married.

Regardless of how it exactly happens, we should just live with it and not hold it against them.
This was a poll question. No one on either side has said they hold it against the other side. Debate is always good. We will all move on in life, regardless of anyones opinions from freehuddle.com. I enjoy hearing ppls opinions.

Your friend was gay from the start, which probably contributed to his problems with women lol.

That's spot on....alot are in denial from family and social pressures. Might not have been as much a 'choice' as it was an epiphany.

There's the next hot button topic question for a poll!! Should gay cpls be allowed to legally get married?

    Why not??

After watching my wife's younger sister move out on husband #5 this weekend (after four months of marriage and a five month "courtship"), gays and lesbians could not screw it up any worse than we hetrosexuals.

I DO have a problem extending benefits to unmarried couples who can be legally married, however.

My vote is no on that one too. Lol

However, I believe that some do choose to pursue their own gender either from events in their life or by choice - in fact, it seems to be the "flavor of the day" in some circles (particularly among women).

I have an Uncle who is Gay. He has always said during HS and even first going to College that he tried dating girls but it just never felt natural or "normal" to him. That he always was attracted to men. At the end of the day, I believe being Gay happens from birth.

I don't have a problem with them getting married. I just found it odd that my uncle, who is gay, doesn't think they should be allowed.

Google banner ads are based on items in your browsers history.

Oddly enough my Uncle doesn't really care about the marriage issue. His Partner does want to get married but he has said that he doesn't really need a piece of paper to tell him that he is married.

Yes, we choose who we MAKE love to but not who we love. Again, you're confusing a feeling (gay/love) with the choice of committing an act (sex). We don't get to choose how we feel, only manage it. You qualification of "to an extent" clearly implies it was not a choice fully within your control.

Go ahead, tell your wife that you CHOOSE to love her. I bet it makes her feel all warm and fuzzy :)

Lol I'm not 'confusing' anything. Well..my thoughts on the topic are known..as I said..you're not going to change my opinion..and I'm not going to change yours. So with that..I am done discussing it. It was fun and all.

You chose to fall in love your with your wife. You did not make a conscious choice to be attracted to women.
