Is Homosexuality a Choice or Are You Born That Way?
-
detectivegibblesBorn that way.
No one wants to be born into a demographic where you are hated by many and don't have the same rights as your next door neighbors. -

let me guess, were you born a buckeyes fan too? we learn behaviors at a young age. small babies and children have attractions to both their fathers and mothers at different times as their mature. its pretty possible that those who are gay maybe dont lose that attraction to their same sex parent and it continues as they grow up.gut wrote:
Conditioned??? How exactly does one become conditioned to like blue over green? Did your parents sit you down and flash colors with accompanying sensations of electric shock and bad smells?Glory Days wrote:
No i wasnt, it was conditioned. So my preference to green over blue objects is something i am born with also, because i dont know exactly when i decided i liked green over blue?
maybe we should change this to "are you born with the instinct to reproduce or do you choose to reproduce".
Also, no, we are not born with the instinct to reproduce. We are born with the instinct to copulate. This is why you see acts of homosexuality and bisexuality in the animal kingdom, unless you want to try to argue that benobo chimps are making such conscious choices. -

No, he's gotten in bar brawls, etc. Has the scars to prove it. I wouldn't call him the nicest guy in the world.hang_loose wrote: GeneralsIcer89, Just because your sister's friend is a big gay biker does not make him tough. Good point. Sorry if it seemed as if I were calling you out for something. Was not my intention.Con_Alma wrote: ...no Biblical quotes or references at all by me thus far. gutBesides knowing that I never had to make a conscious choice to be hetero, I think it would be logically straightforward that homosexuality cannot be a rational choice. Given the cultural and societal pressures, a person choosing to be gay would have to be maladjusted in some form, and I don't think anyone believes that all gay people are maladjusted or damaged emotionally/pyschologically. Moreover, choosing to resist the inherent biological/physiological attraction to the opposite sex that many in this thread seem to believe is inate would require rebellion on a level that makes absolutely zero sense. Any desire to rebel or be different would be more than sufficiently satisfied through being bisexual. If one were attracted to the opposite sex there would be absolutely no point in denying those feelings.
There is absolutely no reason to choose to be gay. If sexuality were a choice, then people would choose to be hetero or bi - no one would choose to be gay. -

No, I was not born a buckeye fan. That's apples to orange and an irrelevant comparison. The color example at least is similar because there is no innate reason to prefer one color over another, we just do.Glory Days wrote: let me guess, were you born a buckeyes fan too? we learn behaviors at a young age. small babies and children have attractions to both their fathers and mothers at different times as their mature. its pretty possible that those who are gay maybe dont lose that attraction to their same sex parent and it continues as they grow up.
And how do they determine sexual attraction (vs, say, a need for nurturing) in small babies? Did someone show them nude pictures of mommy and daddy and, errr, break out the tape measure?
Also, at what age did mommy stop giving you a rise in your pants? LOL -
TiernanGlory Day's mom still gives me a rise...regularly.

buckeyefallsHonestly, I don't care if a person is homo-sexual by choice or by creation.
I choose to accept them for being an individual created by God. God still loves them and so should I.
I know many who would claim alcoholics are born that way (genetics). Same thing. God still loves us all so why can't we accept each other for who they are and let God be the judge in the end.
All we're called to do is to love each other as ourselves. -

Sorry, but this is literally one of the stupidest things I have ever read.Go_Fast_Sports wrote: I'd say it's a 50/50 answer.
Some are "born that way" due to being "victims of their environment", or with weaker minds that don't comprehend the Adam and Eve of human nature. Some fear what they do not know about the opposite sex, thus take cover in their own sex.
Others are "choice", and preference of sexual exploratory adventures plays a big part. Again, the weakened state of mind plays a part, and most live in denial that they ever went that far.
I've had gay men tell me they went gay because no girl liked them, or that they once did have a woman in their life, she cheated on them so they went gay. Not that gay men will ever cheat.... lol.
Gay women on the other hand are 85 times more likely to be "bi-sexual". Obviously women are comfortable enough with themselves to naturally share more than guys do in the "un-gay" sense. I have heard of gay women cheating on their partner as well. I've also had gay women tell me they went lesbian because a man cheated on them or left them. One once told me she went lesbian because God took her husband in a car accident, and she believed that is the path he chose for her. Again, a weak mind comes into play.
So yea, being born with a weak mind plays a big part, but choosing to become gay with that weak mind plays a bigger part.
I went with choice. God knows that my life has been very messed up at times, but hell no... I'd NEVER go for a man.
To say that gay people are that way because they are born with a 'weak mind' not only is asinine and incredibly stupid, but very Aryan Nazi sounding. Would you like to begin euthanasia on them and burning down their businesses or would you like someone else to? -

Nix the previous post, this is officially the stupidest thing I've ever read. Are you 13?cats gone wild wrote: A few things I wonder about is, why do gay guys act more girlie then a girl, and why do they talk with their hands and use their s's in a hiss?
And women gay couples, why does one have short hair or look manly? If they are both gay, then why does a woman want a woman that looks like a guy?: -
BRFWow! What a thread. Actually, I think that cats gone wild has a good point and it is NOT a "stupid" post. But it always helps to throw in "nazi" for that kind of thinking.
I really hate that.... Being called a nazi for expressing a conservative view. Do you know what? The liberals are actually the "Nazis"! -
iluvzSaying some one chooses to be gay is absolutely ridiculous. That's like saying people chose to be mentally retarded, or chose to have other disabilities or diseases. Did God intend perfection for people? Absolutely. But then came sin, and error. And along with it disease and sickness and dysfunction. Just because homosexuality is the one (for lack of better word) dysfunction that humans can hide, doesn't mean it is any different or worse than any other one, or that it is a choice. Frankly who cares if its a choice. Be a decent human being. Don't worry or judge other peoples lifestyle. And treat people with respect. It doesn't matter why anyone is the way they are. Worry about yourself.
-
SQ_CraziesWithout a doubt it's a choice.
There are a few guys I've known since I was 4 or 5 years old who are gay and from what I've learned it's a choice for sure. They weren't born that way. Saying they were born that way is just what they came up with to try to make it seem more acceptable and judging from the poll a lot of people are gullible. I don't have a problem with a gay people, they are what they are--but shit like this pisses me off. They shouldn't have to come up with reasons to be more socially acceptable (like saying they were born that way) to be able to fit in. Who gives a shit what they're doing on their own time and for all the guys who make fun of gay dudes--you're a douche bag. All that means is there is more pussy out there for you and take full advantage of having your gay friend hook you up with some every once in awhile. -

Or maybe more like being born with blue eyes, or being able to roll one's tongue, etc. I'm sure homosexuals love that the first examples with which you can come up are dysfunctional, LOL!iluvz wrote: Saying some one chooses to be gay is absolutely ridiculous. SQ_CraziesAnd for some of you fucktards--homosexuality has absolutely nothing to do with religion. That's fucking stupid. God didn't create you, he didn't create me, he didn't create a queer. I've got more bad news for you--Santa Claus isn't real.

I didn't call anyone a Nazi. I said that the post was Nazi sounding because, as a person who has a degree in German history 1900-1945, I believe it does, and could find quite a few comparisons in 1930s German propaganda and editorials that would support my viewpoint.BRF wrote: Wow! But sure, just focus on the word Nazi without even thinking about the post in context or my reasoning for using it.
Also, the last part of your post made no sense. The post that I said sounded like the Nazi point-of-view was neither a conservative viewpoint nor a liberal one. It was a stupid one, and it wasn't even cats' post. But yes, that one was stupid as well and an obvious generalization of a group of people that anyone with any common sense would know is not true. -

However, in my experience, it's usually the "liberal" that throws out the "Nazi" word. <---regardless of how you meant it.dtdtim wrote: Also, the last part of your post made no sense. Liberals need to look within, imo.
Nazi = Socialism (and you all know the rest about how they made everyone believe that!) -

were you born with the ability to know which girls are attractive and which girls arent? its funny how what people think is attractive today, wasnt attractive 50 or 100 years ago. which gene accounts for that? can you tell me at what age you determined what type of girl you like? just because people cant remember when they DEVELOPED an attraction to guys or girls, doesnt mean they were born with it.pnhasbeen wrote:

if people are born gay, why arent all identical twins both gay? why is it that only about half the time both are gay? -
hang_looseGeneralsIcer89, Are his bar room brawls from attacks because he is gay or just because he is a biker?
If you have been to biker bars, fights are actually pretty rare. Is he in a club(gang)?
Its funny sometimes when people say he's a biker or a guy (girl) come in wearing all leather makes him tough! Some can write a check and cash it and some can't.
There are a lot of people who ride bikes (Harleys) that don't consider themselves "bikers". You wouldn't believe the amount of above middle class people who ride "bikes".
Anyway if he is gay, more power to him. -

LOL! Thanks for the compliment. Weak mind was just a loose term. View it as you wish... a born deficiency, a disease, chemical make up, fear of confronting reality, not believing in Adam and Eve, but Adam and Steve, etc...dtdtim wrote:
