Disgusted with Trump administration - Part I

rocketalum;1857123 wrote:Here's my hot take. There's no collusion to win the election. There was/is planning to use the position of President to advance business interests of Trump Inc. Maybe that's with Russian money. I do have a hard time dismissing all the contact between Trump associates and Russian agents/affiliates (what' the list now Manafort, Page, Flynn, Sessions, Kushner etc..) I just don't think it was for the purpose of "rigging" the election. They're friendly, and that's weird, and maybe there's something there but I'm just not sold that it's collusion to fix an election. That's lefty fantasy IMO.

What I think is very real is the old "coverup worse than the crime" adage. If Trump did pressure or even ask (as POTUS his requests carry some pretty significant weight) Comey to "lay off Flynn" or fired him "because of this Russia thing" that's pretty damn close to obstruction. That's the issue now to me. Trump may even be right to be frustrated by what amounts to a frivolous investigation but it's an investigation non the less and trying to meddle in it or influence it as POTUS should be viewed very seriously. The merit of the investigation is moot, obstruction is obstruction and the man is often his own worst enemy. Just shut your mouth and this eventually all goes away.
That's why the Comey testimony is so critical. If what has come out about the Comey memos is true, which directly conflict Trump, and he does it under oath, that would be textbook obstruction of justice.

Now, would the GOP impeach one of their own? Time will tell.

I actually don't disagree with QO on this one. If Trump did ask Comey to in any way halt or alter his investigation and all Comey did was write that in a memo...he's got some serious explaining to do as well. However his failing doesn't remove that this would still be a valid question of obstruction. Comey failing to let any one know is not a get out of jail free card. It just means two people should be in trouble.

    Reporting the felony to himself?

They are building a massive case against Trump and his associates and no doubt this information was reported to the proper authorities.

Sorry you continue to support such a traitor to this country.

What Comey did is standard procedure and memos from senior FBI officials are admissible as evidence.

But again, that's reality not Fox News propaganda.

Well, they probably won't have to answer that question.

ABC is reporting Comey is not going to say Trump interfered in the investigation. So liberals are going to be disappointed tomorrow, at least until the CNN spin machine fires up.

    Sorry you bought into it.
    1. Reading comprehension, I have said many times and specifically to you a few times, I don't watch FNC at all.
    2. So you give the metric (ad revenue/viewership) as proof that "THE PEOPLE", I use your metric to show you are wrong, and then you won't accept the facts. Typical liberal I guess. Go switch back to isadore, we need a "gosh a ruddies" in here.

Doesn't watch Fox News yet regurgitates propaganda only heard on Fox.

So me using your metric to prove you wrong and providing links to show my statistics is "regurgitating FN"?

Nice try, now switch to isadore.

I already explained to you why Fox News has the highest viewership but please tell me more about how the world is 6,000 years old and Dinosaurs were walking around when Jesus was alive.

Please tell me more Mr. Scientist.

Yes, we'll wait and see what he says. Based on what some other intel chiefs have testified today, this is very likely to be another giant nothingburger.

But the ABC story has been a pattern in the liberal media for months throughout this investigation - fantastic HEADLINE claims based on anonymous sources, and then the story is quietly walked back. Wash, rinse and repeat.

Personally, I think most people are getting tired of Lucy pulling the football away again and again and again.

The same anonymous sources also got Flynn fired and you were on here crying about the leaks and deeming it Fake News.

Anonymous sources turn out to be real sources and WaPo is the leader in trusted journalism. You deride them and that's because you are a partisan hack.

Well, Trump's comments can be deemed inappropriate (much the way Clinton's meeting with Loretta Lynch), but not even Comey is prepared to label them interference (or other security directors testifying today).

But what will be overlooked by the usual suspects is Comey explicitly stating this is a counter intelligence investigation, not criminal, and Trump is not a target.

    And this was interesting:
"He finished by stressing “the cloud” that was interfering with his ability to make deals for the country and said he hoped I could find a way to get out that he wasn’t being investigated. I told him I would see what we could do, and that we would do our investigative work well and as quickly as we could"

Hmmmm.....So Trump may be an incompetent moron, but it looks to me like he just figured out how to get out, definitively, that he is not a target of a counter intelligence investigation, much less criminal.

Are you disappointed with the statement? Or can we assume you didn't read it?

Would it be fair to say this falls well short of the "explosive" testimony the usual suspects have been teasing?

This paints him as having no criminal intentions ...

... but it also paints him as incompetent.

Where have we heard this before?

    Ah yes ...

"Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information [...] The security culture of the State Department …was generally lacking in the kind of care for classified information found elsewhere in the government [...] Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."

    ~ FBI Director James Comey

The candidates in this most recent election were nothing short of a fucking embarrassment.

Pretty cut and dry obstruction of justice. Who cares if Trump is implicated with Russia? He committed a Felony and you support it!

    Amen to that.

I've said before, I think Comey had an impossible job, with a slew of choices between bad/worse/horrible. I'd be willing to bet his July(?) and October comments on Clinton were an effort to "clear the deck" thinking, like most people, Clinton was a lock to win. I think that's pretty clear when juxtaposed with his statement about "concern to undermine an incoming POTUS" with respect to the Dossier....which is clearly a feeling Trump shared, repeatedly, about how all this was hurting his ability to govern.

Looks to me like he's not trying or asking to shut down the investigation, a sentiment shared by Comey and echoed by several other intelligence heads.

So it's pretty cut and dry NOT obstruction of justice. All Trump was fishing for was for Comey to correct the record against the avalanche of fake news obstructing his ability to govern. We can debate how close to the line Trump came, but he didn't cross it.

It clearly is cut and dry. Comey didn't comply therefore Trump fired him.

Sorry you support obstruction of justice.
