Republican debates/primaries.

Voter turnout was 62.3% in 2008 (a historic year) and 57.5% in 2012. But when dealing with primaries, I think it might be closer to 20% of those numbers. But then the field is whittled to 2-3 generally after the first Super Tuesday before most of the country and big states even get to have a say.FatHobbit;1795385 wrote:Isn't it only like 20% of people who typically vote? I could see a scenario where there is an unusual voter turnout in either direction because people either buy into Trump's message or they want to stop him.
I have quite a few friends on Facebook that I suspect don't typically vote that are supporting Trump. (I also would not be surprised if they still don't vote)
LOL to your friends still not bothering to vote. This has been a really tough year for polls to predict, and I'm guessing they're going to be even worse in the general. Will Trump bring more voters to the poll? Will Sanders voters turn out for Hillary? -
SnotBubblesI believe that Trump will be the next POTUS unless the Democrats put Sanders up against him. The only way for that to realistically happen at this point is if the super delegates flip. If the Democrats are smart, they push for that flip.
I will vote Sanders over Trump, but I will not vote for Clinton. The polls show that I am not alone. -

Sanders is the most honest/likable person of all 3. He just happens to have by far the worst policies of all 3.
Trump is an arsehole and not really a conservative. No way I would vote for him over ANYONE else except for probably Hillary or Sanders. Maybe Obama given what I know now, but not back in 2008. I'd vote for Kerry, even the crazy loon Gore over Trump.
Hillary, I mean come on seriously? Biggest "crook" to get this far in a POTUS election since the advent of the 24 hr news cycle. She makes Nixon look like Honest Abe.
I saw the best gif ever, the scene in Ace Ventura when he gets hit in both legs by thrown spears and is screaming at each leg one at a time...the caption added to the gif was "choosing between Hillary and Trump"... -

Lol well I had the right number, just the wrong election. -

Trump had said he would like to appoint judges in the mold of deeply conservative as Scalia, who died in February.
In the statement, he described Scalia as "a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice."
"His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans' most cherished freedoms," he added. "He was a justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country."
Right there is reason enough to vote for Trump over the socialists/marxists. -

While on taxes, why won't he release his tax returns?
Every candidate has done since 1976 and even when audited, they can be released.
What is he afraid we will find out his is lying about his wealth?
Man, up Trump and do the right thing. -
ptown_trojans_1So, Trump is willing to talk to North Korea.
Are you guys ok with this?

You all killed Obama on here for even sniffing of talking with Iran.
So, are you pro Trump and willing to talk to the DPRK? -

Well I'm not sure I'm part of the group that killed Obama for wanting to talk with Iran, but I will say this. I think it's important to allow some form of dialogue with every country on the planet. My issue here is having Donald Trump representing the US with anyone; not the US but Donald. Dude is an asshole at best and every time he opens his mouth I hold my breath that he won't embarrass the country.ptown_trojans_1;1796365 wrote:So, Trump is willing to talk to North Korea.

I think he will release his returns at some point. I believe he will use it to try and get the Goldman Sachs speeches out from Hillary as a tit for tat.ptown_trojans_1;1796363 wrote:That's on his website, but the guy has given so many different answers on taxes I cannot keep them straight.

...unless it was Kim Jong Un approaching the U.S. to tell us they are completely reversing their position on nuclear development and their form of government because they want to focus on helping their citizens become healthy and prosperous by opening up their economy...and are inviting us in to verify such efforts and asking for our help....then I'll listen. -
ptown_trojans_1In today's version of stupid shit Donald says, I was listening to Morning Joe when he called in this AM.
1. Called Robert Gates a failure and one of the worst foreign policy decision makers.
2. Said a trade war with China is no big deal and a 35% tariff is just a tactic. Says would not damage our economy at all.
3. Says all of our allies must pay us if we are going to have troops there. (Nevermind some of them do already).
Remember is you vote for him, you are supporting a radical departure from our foreign policy since 1945 and everything Reagan has done. -

ptown_trojans_1Yet people think Hillary is worse.
At she is not an idiot, and calling out fellow SECDEFs and CIA directors. -
Con_AlmaIt's not about one being an idiot or not. In today's world if you don't like either candidate it comes down to partisan politics. When that's in play you're not going to make those people who have called Ms. Clinton an idiot change their minds based on Mr. Trump's foreign policy views/comments.
People get to vote for whomever they want for whatever reason they want...including you and me. If we don't support people being able to vote for a candidate for whatever reason they want then we jeopardize our own ability to determine why and who we want to vote for.
...so people call Ms. Clinton an idiot and are going to vote for Mr. Trump. You're not going to change that. -

I think she is a flip flopping idiot with no integrity. That doesn't change the fact that I also think Trump is an idiot. A lot of people feel the same way. I don't understand how you can't comprehend this.ptown_trojans_1;1796421 wrote:Yet people think Hillary is worse.

I'd rather hear the qualities of the candidate you're trumpeting as opposed to the idiocies of your adversary...but that's just me. -

There aren't many qualities for either candidate unfortunately. As you said though, in a situation like this it comes to to partisan politics. I live in DC so my vote won't matter, but if I were in Ohio, Trump would be an easy choice. Not allowing Hillary to appoint two supreme court justices is enough for me. I think both candidates have a good shot of only lasting one term. The Supreme Court has a much longer effect on us.Con_Alma;1796425 wrote:Case in point...

sleeperPretty incredible that in US Politics we argue who is less of an idiot and whichever is less deserves that persons vote.
Trump is more of an idiot than Hillary. Hillary is more corrupt than Trump.
Once again we get to choose between 2 lesser evils. I'm voting for Hillary. Trump would be a disaster. -

True. I am glad he released his list of supreme court candidates; it appears the conservatives should be happy, along with most Americans. If these are his supremes, I can easily handle his bombastic nature. -

On any of the major policy points, Trump is ten thousand times better than Clinton. You seem to be allowing his personality get in the way good policy legislation that he would sign, or good justices he would nominate. Too bad.
