Wayne County area Wrestling 2009-10

82airborneTrue we have a problem with points. Sadly it was not caught by the state but reported to the state by a team we would see at either county or sectionals. I can't comment beyond that but if you wrestle in the WCAL and you are at point limit your season may be done as well. it's a shame that indivduals from opposing teams think the best way to get their kid(s) advanced is by removing their competition instead of teaching them to face it. this has allways been a sport that we ask our kids to face challenges head on and win or lose and they become better for it. there is no hiding on center mat and these kids have stood up week in and week out to do their best to rise up to the moment. To now teach your kids if you can't win then try to scrw over your opponent and your win might be tarnished but what the heck a win is a win right? for those of you who know me I appologize for my tirade. As for our season ending nothing is set in stone and nothing has been confirmed so you can see my aggitation dealing with a teenage son that worked all off season for this moment to see it possibly stripped by someone that has too little belief in their own child. As everything becomes official reguardless of the outcome all parties involved must be named and with the state being involved I'm sure the press will use the freedom of info act to make sure everybody get the whole story. I'm going to stop now because my venting isn't helping i'm just getting more pissed the more I type. If we don't go any further then I wish all wrestlers in the area the best of luck and a healthy and successfull post season.

Not sure where any of this is coming. First off, whoever pointed this out is actually doing you a favor. They caught it before it was too late. With Saturday being canceled you should be fine to compete. If this was caught after county or at sectionals your team would be DQ'ed. So you should be thanking them not P.O.'ed thinking it's a way to "have an easier road".82airborne wrote: True we have a problem with points. Second, if you're going to be angry then be furious at the A.D. and/or coaches for not catching this before the season even began. It is their responsibility to have these matters corrected BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS! They are the ones that put your wrestler in jeopardy come state tourney's time. I'm sure they didn't mean for this to happen and weren't taking advantage of the system but in this sport rules are rules and even if by accident just like in life you still get punished for them and for a small bit I'm sure, a small stigma might come with it but it's not the end of the world.
I just can't believe not one person caught this before now. Seriously. I know parents aren't in the know but there are many in this area who are and I'm surprised none of them have a "stake" or interest in Chippewa Wrestling. So BE THANKFUL that someone caught this before it really hurt you. It has nothing to do with anyone trying to screw you over. That's ridiculous. -
Tank2009For all the Grier, Harter talk out there here is my thought... Grier comes out on top big over harter. Yes Harter gave Goebel a heck of a match but that means nothing now. Its in the past... Another comment i have is everyone says how Grier is struggling or Grier is doing so bad this year.... He only has 3 losses and 2 of them came from 12th ranked Division 1 Ivan Mcclayn and the other was 10th ranked Division 2 Dustin Graham. After Griers showing last weekend at St. Marys after going 10-0 with 6 techs and 2 pins i say he wins Big over Harter.

zoocrewI am not sure how many points Chip. has but everyone keeps saying 20 points is the rule. This is true but only 16 of them can be from tournaments and the other 4 have to be from dual/tri's. I truely hope that something can be worked out! The WCAL tourn. is bad enough with only 7 teams let a lone 6. I would hate to see this happen to some of the areas best and nices kidds in the area.

I beleive Perez from Tuslaw was Griers other loss and mind you Perez also only lost to Harter in OT . He is also in this sectional , what a log jam.Tank2009 wrote: For all the Grier, Harter talk out there here is my thought... Grier comes out on top big over harter. OSU_09Yes thats true... Perez beat Grier at the dies. Perez hip-tossed Grier and instead of landing on his back Griers head broke the fall and he got a concussion. I remember watching that match.

1_beastSo Can someone close to the situation fill me in? Is Chippewa done for the year? Is Chippewa out of WCAL's and in for Sectional-Districts and State?? How did the coaches not catch this? I saw it in the winter sports preview. I alway count peoples points. Did you think that wrestling in West Virginia would not count?? Can someone shed a little light?
The whistle blower may have saved your season...not cheated you for a cheap win. Good Luck with this. Im curious who brought this to center stage?

You know Zoo. I completely for got about that rule at the high school level. I see one dual. 2 dual tournaments though but those don't count. Wow. Might be in more trouble then I thought. Do you happen to know how long this has been in place? If it's the first year with it then they might be ok'd. I never had interest in schedules and didn't bother to look into the rules as far as schedules go until I went to the darkside this year and became a coach.zoocrew wrote: I am not sure how many points Chip. has but everyone keeps saying 20 points is the rule. cradlemered1968Any one have the scoop on who from this area made it out of Ohio Youth Districts this weekend?
-
falcon81Iam just glad "the kids" are not going to be punished for the over sight. A lot of these kids have gotten where they are by the personal sacrifices the have made in the off season. COACHES , lets be more careful and lets all be glad this got caught in time.

rtherthrwyathnknwyaDoylestown's Garret Hall 2nd @ 73
Waynedale had at least one kid win it & a few others make it. I don't have any names.
Northwestern has 2 going 82 & 160
These were all at Glenoak.
I know Norwayne has a couple wrestling for Wadsworth. I can be more specific when they post brackets for State later this week.
Player: I would agree that you have done a good thing moving from the stripes to the chair. You may want to invest in a watch.
I am wondering if whoever the Doylestown whistle blower is, spoke this the school first or OHSAA. If it was school first, then I say no foul. If it was OHSAA first then that is a clear violation of the unwritten gentleman's code. Arr the code. Arr! Aye, keep to the code. If the whistle blower was truly concerned about the team then first contact needs to be to the school, an other activity is dirty pool. -

Ouch... didn't think I was that bad of an official.... Ya it's been quite the year and I'll have to wait and see what the rest of the year holds.rtherthrwyathnknwya wrote: Doylestown's Garret Hall 2nd @ 73

1_beastChipps over by 4??? What effect does L-ville being cancelled have??? Are the missing WCAL's???? How are they eligible for sectionals??? I WANT DETAILS DAMNIT!!!!!! lol
-
swinginahammerWord yesterday was yes they will miss county but be allowed to do sectionals and districts per OHSAA. I just wonder how much all this closings will affect the guys for county with limited practice time
-
82airborneChippewa is in for post season but will have to sit out county. we wrestled the same schedule as last year except for adding the Dies and dropping a tri mach. We have a first year AD that is doing the best job he can with little experience. Yes these things are the responsibillity of the AD and the coach but when the schedule hasn't really changed for a long time you might not think about that. The crazy thing is a team can wrestle in the state duals during the season but since it's put on by the state there is no points! Chippewa will be at county this weekend but not to wrestle just make weight and watch some great wrestling. I wish all the young men the best of luck at county and hope all stay healthy.
