Beast: nice bait. Looks like you got the thread pumping. I know for a fact Harter would NEVER back down from a challenge. I am starting to wonder if the field will diminish the Bears enough to allow an upset bid.

How did Norwayne do @ the Dies?

Fortune can & will win sections @ 119 & will go 119. Quote me on that in a month. He's good enough, smart enough & gosh darn it.....
You guys that get on here and say my kid will win for sure Blah Blah Blah are missing the boat or have never raised a wrestler all the way thru HS or college. Why put that kind of pressure on a kid that is already struggling. Fortune is a very solid wrestler and on any given day could beat a very good wrestler ,he has also shown he can lose against a average wrestler on a bad day.We respect all our opponents and know that wrestling has its ups and downs. Its a sport of extreme highs and extreme lows and very personal. Chest pounders in this sport usually get embarrassed, eat their words or put kids in awkward positions with other kids. Discussion is one thing, declaring the outcome ahead of time is immature and lacks good judgement. Predicting and prophesying are 2 different things. Good luck to all wrestlers and on any given day may the best wrester win. There will be some good ones at our sectionals and rematches at districts with different outcomes than at sectionals , thats the beauty of it.

They dont train hard.....but the fans are S.O.B'S...YOU JACKASSES bring nothing to the table...no wrestling jargon whatsoever.....next year, in a down year for the Bears, you will be blowing these boards up...talking about how good you are. Do yourself a favor and keep your sh!tty posts to yourself. Poor losers!!!!
Wow, I guess now we are seeing the true color's of the Waynedale folks.

My only questions is your signature. "THE BEARS HAVE "RELOADED" ?????? LOL
Don't you have to have once been loaded to have re-loaded?
lol mumbles himself shows up on a WCAL thread...for the better part of 8 years i, along with everyone else in the wrestling world have not been able to comprehend but about 2 of your babbling nonsense posts...this is one of them. I guess you do have to be "loaded" to "reload". The team i cheer for is consistantly on the "BOARD" @ State. A 5th place finish just a few years ago, along with a 3rd at State Duals.....I'd say that was a "loaded" team to accomplish that. That same team had a State Champ, a 3rd, a 5th, a 7th and a qualifier(that year)....not too shabby.

This years Bears return a nice core of talent, including a Previous qualifier, a runner-up. We won The Indian Valley Duals, The Crestview Duals, The Cardington Duals, We were runner-up at Marion Elgin 25 team invite, and we finished 5th at State Duals. Our dual record is around 24-2. One of those losses came to D-III duals runner-up West Jeff. And ONE OF THOSE WINS came against D-III duals State Champ Cuyahoga Heights.....so in answer to your question Atop...we once were loaded...and this year, I would go on a limb, and say we "RELOADED".

Beast, have you ever considered becoming a minister. Preach it brother

I dont know too much about the light weights, but I think from 160+ it will be:
160-Raber. He is cutting a lot of weight and will be a HUGE 160 on Saturday night. I really like Hall though.
171-Seigel. He is going to turn a lot of heads. Drilling with Beam cant hurt.
    189- Is ANYONE good here?
215-Schafrath. Monster 215. I cant even think of a challenger.
285-Flinner. Smart wrestler. Great coach cant hurt.
  • Smart Talker
Does anyone know the names of the coaches and wrestler from Rittman
  • zoocrew
Flinner didn't even place at the Dies this paced weekend. Mapleton HW will be hard to beat plus Richards, Orrville kid, Nuendorf, Kelly, Kelby, WAY. kid. Pretty tough weight for a D3 sectional. Hard to predict a clear cut win. The loudonville 215 could be a good match for Schafrath.
  • Red Rum
    Falcon,
I agree with most of what you said in your last post but I can't help but think your the one who is taking things way to personal. I said Nelson & Fortune would be a great match and I liked Fortune. I 've never said anything derogatory on here about anybodys kid and I don't think overthrow crossed the line either. Beast predicted Nelson to win and overthrow & I went with Fortune. No disrespect to anyone! Nelson & Fortune are fine wrestlers. If you want to yell about predictions and prophecies, start with Brian Brakeman. I'm not looking to get into a pissing match with you because I enjoy reading your posts but I fail to see the lapse of judgement on this one.

    Sectional thoughts...
275 will be an interesting class to watch, I think Martin(MAP), Kelly(MAN), Richards(NOR) & Flinner(TRI) are the frontrunners. Gove(WAY) could easily claim one of the transfer spots. Neuendorf(NWN), Reusser(ORR), Srock(DOY), Kelbly(SMV) will probably have to wrestle "lights out" to advance. Good luck to all.

189-Is it possible that Beam & Schaeffer could wrestle 4 times, and all for championships. Still to early to say, but it takes me back to Huber-Kikume in '84.

215-Schafrath(DOY) big favorite. Mullins(WAY) & Allerding(LOUD) will probably still be standing when the smoke clears and the other spot could be taken by Grubb(TUS), Wiley(SMV) or Orrick(BR).

giggity giggity giggity we got some wrastlin chatter boys!!!!

WCAL IS gonna be a good show....Sectionals....B-R-U-T-A-L....I have fell back this year a little bit in my stats, so i do not know much of Manchester, , Black River or Mapleton...heck...i dont know much about locals either...lol...but early nod has to go to 112, 160, 189 and 275 as toughest weights...with 215 close behind.
  • 1_beast
and Red Rum...damn you must be old to be remembering the Kikume- Huber matches! lol I mean ummm...my grandpa told me bout em...or i wouldnt know
  • falcon81
Red rum No offense but I think my point went right over your head. You have not and never will see me state what a certain kid will or won't do. I may state what I think a kid is capable of doing but I won''t declare a winner or put that kind of pressure on my kid or someone elses, they are kids. Sorry if that rubbed you wrong. You can declare a winner if you want , pound your chest , I just don't think its a good way to roll. The personal comment I don't get , I was defending Fortune , not my kid. Why put pressure on him was my point . He beat Zack in JR. high and He could beat him again, they will figure it out Iam sure more than once in their career . We may be just mis reading each others comments a little Iam sure. peace.
Beast how is Kikume ? We wrestled once , he was tough, nice kid. I had to work for that one. Does he live around here? I agree with your weight classes that will be brutal. 125 and 140 seem to be thin.

My opinion... If a kid can't handle the "pressure" of some random guy on the internet saying I think this kid should win... He shouldn't be wrestling and is very breakable in a match.
    Sorry. Just dumb.

    Beast,
Yeah, I'm a geezer, ya busted me. I'm so old I actually got to shake hands with Howard Ferguson. I even remember when Mitch Lance pulled a couple upsets on his way to the state title in '83. The best memories by far were the Huber/Kikume battles and the Wayne county podium sweep in '84 at 167AA. Grapplers from Triway & Norwayne (Zody? & Ziegler? I think) got 3rd & 4th. To top it off, Bell of Cloverleaf and Teeple of Hillsdale both placed in class AAA & A. The 1984 area 167 class was a true meatgrinder.

    Falcon,
I pretty much agree with how you roll, misread your messages meaning, I better get back on the prunes and geritol.

    And now for another prediction,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think its been a few years since the NWN sectional produced a state champion (Dan Stiltner, Jesse Campbell, etc). This is the year someone will end the dryspell and bring home the big prize.
  • 1_beast
Red Rum...im not a geezer....im still a whippeersnapper, however, i was but a boy with childhood dreams when i watched The Kikume/Huber mathes. Man were those some good ones. How many times did they go at it? WIT finals, dual meet, WCAL finals, Ditsrict finals, Regional Finals, State Fianls. Was there any more that year? Joe pulling out the victory at Orrville, and doing a backflip. Huber with a "hurt knee" lol...the raucious crowd. The only thing that has even resemble that is the Ebie - Held match and a few WCAL titles...At Norwayne, At WAynedale and at Dalton...were some prettyt heated/excited crowds.

It has been a few years sinece Jesse Cambell...and DAVID Stiltner...this year will be a good one. I just pray that everybody stays healthy so this is the show we all want to see.

Red Rum The NW sectional had a State Champ in 06 My son , Cory Nelson ,Tuslaw, 160.

I raised a wrestler, and I would say pressure is an inherint part of that sport. While it is considered a team sport, most of us on here know that it is the ultimate one on one sport. In any other team sport a multitude of things can happen that affect an indivduals performance. (The line missed a blocking assignment, someone was in the wrong defense, our outfielder missed a cut off throw) In wrestling it is man on man for three periods. All eyes are on you, and only you for that period of time. That is pressure. No different than if everyone else in your company stopped working for up to six minutes, and they brought in a few hundred spectators to watch you do your job, and your performance during that time dictated the success or failure of the company that day.

However, do I believe that there is more pressure on kids today? Absolutely. Sites like these and the accessibilty of information (or opinions) is easier to come by. Back in the day, if someone from three counties away saw you wrestle and wanted to debate your matches and/or your future, they were pretty limited to talking to other fans from there school, and chances were the kids would never find out about it. That is why I believe that current student athletes should not be allowed or permitted on sites like these. And people who read things about their kids or their teams on here should keep that under their hat. Don't perpetuate the rumors, or pressure.

Just the humble opinion of a guy who attended the Huber/Kikume matches in the 1980's.

Falcon: I didn't know that you had a vested interest in the sectional results @ 119 & now understand where you could interpret my comments as directed at you, against your 119 or applying unnecessary pressure. I would like to restate my previous comment.

I believe that young Mr. Fortune has the physical tools, mental aptitude, endurance, and speed to create a remarkably high probability to overcome the potential challengers to his bid to a title at 119 pounds. In no way do I wish for Mr. Fortune to feel the need to accomplish the above to fullfill my prediction in any way. Furthermore I would like to express my diversion from any contact with my chest or anyone else's chest, be it direct or indirect. If he were it fail I promise to buy him a steak dinner to make amends.

Underthrow, I didn't realize my comments had such a hard impact on you to cause such a detailed and well thought out response. You explained yourself well . Saying he or anyone else will win is different than making a prediction. One is arrogance one is a educated guess and your last post certainly had no arrogance or sarcasm and I accept your sincere explanation to our small misunderstanding.
Now as far as predicting goes Fortune and Nelson are likely opponents and I will say that Mr. Fortune is the likely victor considering his extra experience at the HS level and his Physical, mental, endurance and speed advantages that you state . I only hope Zack can keep it close with so many disadvantages and there is always next year for the incoming freshman.

i think underoverthrow may be asking beast to hit him with a laterral drop...hip toss...or something of the like. It may come too if you dont get me some donuts Sunday when im over that way ;-)

Just read the article about the tri of Woo/NWestrn/Orr. I find it funny that they brought up Raber again. I never once thought of him wrestling Kurt especially after not wanting to wrestle Beam. But the funny part to me is that I thought he made 160 already and that when questioned about it (which I think is a bad question) Budd said they're still focused on getting down to 60?!?!

What are people's thoughts on the team race for sectionals?
