Bears come away with the Championship at Elmwood, moving their dual mark to 33-2. The boys wrestled very well. T Harter lost a battle with Returning State Champ Goebel 1-0.

Another guy to watch in this weight bracket is Stiffler not sure of the school but he had his 100th win up there and lost to Goebel 4-3

harter didnt even try to beat goebel. In the 3rd period harter was wrestling like he was winning. he was simply happy to only lose by a point

i am just wondering why he didnt take any chances to even score in the third. it just looked like he was wrestling to stay in the match, not to win it

I say switch the Harter result, Widder result (Norwayne Curse), and Stanley result(Going to be a 4x County Champ) Richards beats Gove (Way) or Kelby (Smi) Shafrath beats Mullins (Way). The other ???? I have no clue who would challenge those guys.
  • mompov
Yes, Keyes ended his wrestling career.

Schaefer over Beam? I guess I have not seen Beam wrestle this year yet...and I 've seen Schaefer and he's good. But that good? Really looking forward to that match!
Hall at 160 takes all comers. Vogelhuber wrestling well, will give Petersheim a battle.
  • 82airborne
Hildebrand and Bramley had a great match at Hillsdale this year with Bramley beating himself by stalling, something he has since vowed not to do again, and has been wrestling very aggresive ever since. I haven't seen stanley this year but to count out Bramley might be a huge mistake. Also Lance (145) has come back from his injury with a vengence taking 2nd at new lexington.
  • underoverthrow
How will 135 seed with Pete & Vogu if County Champ East from NW is in the bracket? Did either of them win it last year?

Forgetting Hall @ 160 is near unforgivable. He is arguably the best of the WCAL!

Flip an coin on Schaefer/Beam. Neither have been perfect of late. Heard Beam had a poor start vs Wooster & Schaefer lost at his home event a few weeks ago.

It's gonna be interesting, not necessarily all the championship matches but some of the 3rd place matches as well. In my opinion, half the weight classes will have a HEAVY favorite. 103-Britton, 119-Fortune, 125-Moore, 152-Z.Beam, 160-Hall, 171-Siegel, 215-Schafrath.

Another 4 classes are pretty clear cut but have some upset potential. 112-Grier over Harter, 130-Bouman over Widder, 135-Petersheim over Vogelhuber, 275-Richards over Gove

At 140, which looks like the deepest class to me, I think the freshman Stanley, who wrestled a tougher schedule, will prevail over Heldenbrand or Bramley. It also wouldn't surprise me to see Chuck East bump up and further muddy the picture.

The 4 horsemen at 145, Topp, Finley, Lewis & Lance should make for some good wrestling. I like Topp to win, I think this is his year to make the big show.

And the big one.......Schaeffer/Beam, to close to call. The atmosphere in the gym will be electric for this one. Probably the first of 3 or 4 matches between these two.

Team wise, Waynedale, Northwestern, Norwayne, Chippewa, Smithville, Dalton (without Keyes) & Hillsdale.

Just a few thoughts, not facts. Good Luck to everyone!

    w2w,

    Bravo, sir!
You have every right to disagree with my predictions. Who knows, You may even be right. Thats why it will be so much fun watching the actual events.
