Finally a sane individual.......Thank you for saying that.falcon81 wrote: This thread is starting to look like a bunch of Grade school kids bragging about who'd Daddy is bigger and who's a sissy! Man lets get it together ! Please tell me some of you guys are not adults ! Poking a little fun is one thing but this Harter thing completely over the top, please tell me this topic is over. The hahaha and nanana crowd look far smaller and far bigger cowards taking pot shots at a kid and coach than what they are accusing the kid and coach of doing! LOL ! Get it together Man and lets kill this topic. -
1_beastWas kinda suprised there was NO local wrestling coverage yesterday. The Bears were at HOME. The Generals hosted The Wooster Invite. Triway hosted Orrville in a HOME PRIMETIME Match. Tuslaw was hosting The Tuslaw duals. This is s crappy thing. I stick up for the local rag. They usually do a great job. One of the best wrestling coverages in the State.
But here comes my damn.02 cents. The season is 75% over!!!! On our schedule, a kid could realistically be done in 10 matches....(so thats actually higher than 75%). The thing that yanks me....is the little quote that our local sport Editor put in the paper. "Waynedale Coach Louie Stanley could not be reached for comment." I find this humorous due to the fact that Waynedale was HOME....AND Louie was in the Waynedale gym for 8 hours yesterday....AND if I'm not mistaken...EVEN TALKED to said editor on the phone yesterday. lol
Next hysterical thing...and this yanks me too...Im JUST A FAN. Apparently the previously mentioned Editor wants to win a pissing contest, because when confronted with fans asking for coverage, his reply was "Well, if FANS(thats right boys, FANS) want to be crappy, then I'll just send a part timer to cover Leagues, Sectional etc.. I find this insulting to the kids that worked their ass off, for a EDITOR to threaten with LACK OF COVERAGE due to uspet fans.
I realize the season is long....but Basketball is also a long season....and there is plenty of time to cover that. When a school has a rare(as stated in this particular Newsprint), HOME event, I can understand expecting a little coverage.
I understand that you may be short on help. I understand you may be busy. I DONT UNDERSTAND Threatening to pull your 'expertise in journalism' in lieu of a part timer due to pissed off fans. The wrestlers did nothing but work hard, put in the time and in alot of cases Saturday....WIN!!!!

Red RumA few thoughts on the upcoming WCAL tournament...
Despite not having a 119 and Tony Weaver not coming out, Waynedale will win for the 4th consecutive year. The Bears may not break any meet records and might not even have the most champs but the overall quality of the 13 man lineup will be enough for them to hoist the hardware. Some may argue, but Louie Stanley has this program on the verge of "elite" status in D3. The next couple years will tell.
For a few bright shining days in early December, I thought the Huskies may have the manpower to unseat Waynedale, but any chance of that ended with Logan Hersheys knee injury and Bryan Fortunes nagging shoulder issues. The goal at NWN is always to win county, unfortunately the odds are heavily against it.
Norwayne once again is experiencing "few but fierce" curse. The quality is there, the quantity is lacking. Hopefully, Grier can get healthy for the tournament run. The future is bright in Creston.
Chippewa will ride the 2 headed monster of B.Hall / Schafrath to Columbus. The down side is the Chipps didn't get enough breakout years from the rest of the team to contend at county.
The Smithie program continues to improve. Wrestling a tougher schedule would greatly increase the odds of getting someone back to state and the team into WCAL contention.
Dalton has come a long way over the past couple of seasons. Congrats to Vogelhuber, Hange, Torgler, Keyes and a couple guys whos names I can't think of on having nice seasons. Like Smithville, the schedule needs to get tougher.
Hillsdale-Youth & dues. When you have too much of the former, you have to pay the latter. -

Wrestling will always play second fiddle to Basketball. The local hoops scene is on cable access TV, radio and generates revenue wrestling could never hope to match. Basically, BBall is just plain more popular. I know it's not fair, but its the lot we wrestling fans have drawn.
As far as pissing matches between the local editor and the fans. Sometimes the boisterous, loyal Sea of Gold can rub people the wrong way. Sounds like this may have been one of those times. It doesn't matter anyhow, keep on winning and they'll have to cover. -
1_beastRed Rum, I know what you speak are facts. I've come to accept them. I just got irritated by some things this weekend. My wrestlers are 8th grade and 1st grade.....lol so they dont get ink. So if they want to hold back the coverage they arent breaking my heart. Just saves me the 1.00 i spend on the Sunday paper...lol Just thought the whole "then i'll send a part timer" bit was a .........ehhh.....im done.
So how bout them Reds
Nice ascessment Red Rum- The Bears SHOULD win...but they SHOULD have 4 years ago....The Mag 7 SHOULD have a fwe years back....things do happen. I will say...at this point(after much development and maturing throughout the season)...that The Bears in fact SHOULD WIN. -
falcon81Good call Beast ! The Bears in fact SHOULD win.
It is in fact sad about the news coverage. No HS athlete suffers and sacrifices as much as a wrestler does . Its to bad their coverage can not be proportional. The " Lou Stanley could not be reached for comment" struck me as odd also. -
CoachT
I've known Louie for quite awhile and never known him not have any "comments" lol. Hopefully the paper gets their act togehther for you guys out there. We wrestle alot of the WCAL schools and they deserve good coverage.falcon81 wrote: Good call Beast ! The Bears in fact SHOULD win.

Also...after seeing all the "top" teams in the WCAL...Waynedale is a lock to win it in my opinion. Too much depth.
Good luck to all though and stay healthy. -
rtherthrwyathnknwyaWOW beast! Conceding that the Bears SHOULD win. Did someone hijack your account? This makes me want to crap the mat.
Two weeks in a row I've had the chance to see the Smithies middle school team. They are legit! Big team, enthusiastic fans and 3 experienced coaches. Congrats on the title at Triway.
Also saw the Orr-Triway dual. Couple nice heated matches. Congrats to the Titans on the 40-30 win. I am excited to see the hwyt's rematch at Sectionals..if it happens. Why is that big guy from Smithville's son wrestling for Orrville? What did others think of the cheerleader intermission?
I am still satisfied with the local wrestling coverage. I read the Plain Dealer on a regular basis & I don't think I've ever seen wrestling on the first page of the sports section. I'm sure they could do better. You have to cater to your readers. If wrestling sells papers....

Just a man with an opinion. Bears have trained hard. but speakin of 'crapping the mat' yesterday at Northwestern...youth all-stars...i guess a lil kid dropped a deuce on the mat...lmfao and Ref Tom Weiser stepped in in. lmao Get that mat cleaned up Rowlands.....rtherthrwyathnknwya wrote: WOW beast! 1_beasta few things that made me ponder....re-ponder...and exclaim.....WOW!!!!! LOL
Get some chatter on here!!! -
THE4RINGZDoes this mean 1_Beast can no longer sand bag about his horrible horrible, "wait til next year", "we might do OK if we get some breaks" Golden Bears? I mean now that people have the evidence right in there hands, what is a Beast to do?
You know what I am saying Bro.? -
mt1514Did Siegel beat Remeneric this year?
-
proudguard04
Siegel beat him twice this year.mt1514 wrote: Did Siegel beat Remeneric this year? -
falcon81I will say this about Todd Reminaric ,since the beginning of season to now he is the most improved wrestler in the Tuslaw room. He is not even close to being the same wrestler he was. Its like a swich went on. I would not judge him based on earlier results. Another senior that has impoved dramaticly is Treg Grubb. I am anticipating both these young men to surprise some people based on what they saw from them earlier. Our sectional is going to be a real Bear no pun intended Waynedale.
-
WildbearSpeaking of Bear... here's a nice article covering the local scene from our local newspaper. Pretty nice considering the lack of anything the week before from Waynedale Duals. Also another article full of great info on the local scene. Don't know much about the Beam characters but seem to making some noise .

1_beastThank you to you The Daily Record for the coverage. The boys have worked hard and appreciaite it, as do the fans. Mike Plant...You Da Man
-
mt1514The reason I asked about Siegel vs. Remeneric is Baum has Remeneric 4th and Siegel 18th.
-
falcon81
I think Reninarics is fair but clearly Siegels is way off. I guess they take extra points off because of Waynedales reallyreallyreally easy peasy schedule. LOL JK.mt1514 wrote: The reason I asked about Siegel vs. Remeneric is Baum has Remeneric 4th and Siegel 18th. -
mt1514falcoln81,
Should of thought of the easy schedule thing myself. LOL JK also -
