Kinda funny, indians got rid of all the ys. Yan, Yandy, and Yonder.

Also "funny" that the guy who was the center piece in all of the original trade talk going back to last mid season..........Kipnis...............is still planted at 2nd base.
Other than Gomes (for sure) and Diaz (maybe), I'm "ok" with what's been done so far.
Might now have money to offer up to a couple of Tribe's free agents.
Yonder was my least favorite player last season. Glad he is gone.
Outside of the Gomes trade I'm okay with all the other moves.
Brantley to Astros.
Michael Brantley to the Astros... 2 years $32 million. 😕
I guess some teams actually want to win.
Blah!
(cueing the young turks to tell me that this is a good thing)
Brantley is a coin flip with health if he is worth the $$$
Greg Allen will play CF, LF, and RF at the same time. Might pitch the 8th inning too.
Will bat lead off and clean up. Sometimes he'll have to pinch hit for himself.
Go Tribe!
What’s the story on Zimmer? Is he still in the organization? ... expected to be at spring training?
Season ending injury last year and wasn't sure the healing process would be over in time for full spring training.

Sounds like the Astros were thrilled to get him as cheap as they did.
Shedding all the payroll means the Tribe is no longer shopping it’s starters. If they are blown away with a can’t refuse it kinda offer they will jump. But sounds like they are going to head into the season with the same SP staff as 2018.

So what would be a "can't refuse it kinda offer", in your opinion?

I don’t know what all teams have to offer. But the one I figured would make the deal was Yankees. And I would scoff at anything not starting with Andujar/Frazier and their top pitching prospect.
I hope we do a lot of scoffing.
Outfield of: Allen, Martin, Naquin/Luplow is not going to strike fear in many pitching staffs

We keep the starting pitching the same, but we got worse or stayed the same at most other positions. First base is the only position where we got better. We weren't even close to competing with the good teams last year, and we have a worse team this year. It would be nice to have owners who care about winning. Every move that has been made has been about making the Dolans richer.

Not so sure about the last part. The Dolan's ponied up to pay for Andrew Miller & Encarnacion. Even had a deal in place for Lucroy. I've previously railed on them for being "cheap" but this one's on the players, imo. They had their "window" in 2016 and choked it away due to a selfish freak playing with his drone....made the staff do double duty and Kluber finally hit the wall. After that season, teams knew what to expect and the Tribe couldn't sneak up on them.
I'd love to see them fork out $200m+ to keep Lindor but it's just not feasible when you have 10,000 people showing up to games, if that.
Yeah, we shed a lot of payroll, along with a lot of HRs, RBIs, and club leadership.
There is such a thing as addition by subtraction, but all I’m seeing is subtraction. It’s not like we walked away from this with a boatload of top rated prospects. More subtraction without compensation looms in the persons of Cody Allen and Miller.
Antonetti characterized our moves as increasing “flexibility”... which I suspect means that he’ll have the wherewithal to make moves to improve the team.
Waiting for addition.....

Sorry, I root for Bauer but I still have issues with him after that crap.

You will be waiting until right before the trade deadline before they take on salary
Corey Dickerson seems about right for the stretch run
They will win the division and travel to Boston or Houston for the divisional series

Tribe was 14th in payroll/revenue ratio. That was middle of the road. The Dolans made plenty of money. We were not competitive at all against good teams. We will probably win a very bad division, but we have done nothing to match up better with the Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, etc. We have given away our top hitting prospects. Why did we give away the top catching prospect in baseball forfor very little if we planned on dumping Gomes?

Probably.
But the baseball gods have a funny way of slapping you down when you think you can win by just throwing your shoes on the field.
I would not be surprised if we are shopping Bauer and Kluber at the trade deadline.
This team as it stands has a lot of dead spots in its lineup.
