Dodgers interested in Kluber, Rays interested in both EE and Yandy Diaz

In line with my Kluber thinking of let younger players produce, I want to see Yandy at 1B for a season (or DH). Not a fan of trading someone who is that talented with a bat in his hands before giving him a shot with us first. And being unproven and older, won’t get a lot in return. This has Jesus Aguilar written all over it...
I'm okay with trading Kluber under one condition. It better be for a player in the other teams starting lineup and some prospects.
EE- I am okay with this.
Yandy- NO,NO,NO, and NOOOOOOO.
Looking at bringing back Santana? I can only assume this means Edwin and Yonder would be dealt first. I’m cool with that, but odd if they are trying to shed salary.

I don’t buy that at all, unless your goal is just to contend for the AL central and be happy with that... just to extend “the window” for a couple of extra years. If you actually intend to win the World Series, why would you trade all star pitching ( let alone Cy Young pitching) for young prospects .... so say you do that and now you find yourself in July and you have to make deal to strengthen the playoff run.... now your dealing away prospects to get back what you traded away. It makes no sense to trade an Ace now when he has a relatively team friendly contract.

Tribe is way behind the 8-ball in competing with the rest of the AL in every aspect but SP. even without Kluber, they can be right there in that department. Why not get better overall, have a better chance to win now and in future, while dealing him with his best years behind him?
LGT summed it up pretty well. I disagree with the players they threw out as a return, but the premise is my thinkjng exactly.

^^^ well, I think it’s one thing if they’re in complete rebuilding mode, another thing if you are trying to win now. Call me old school, but I think of those teams of the 90’s that had everything but an Ace and I wonder “ if only”.
The other thing I don’t buy is that Kluber is in “ decline”...or that he is on the “wrong side of 30”. I don’t find that applicable for pitchers... e.g. Justin Verlander is 35.
Most certainly, if someone is going to knock my socks off with an offer too good to pass up, I’m okay with that.... but if it’s a deal like Gomes,,, No, just No!
I don't think they are in a complete rebuild as they are more in a retool. Antonetti even said that if they were in a rebuild, "this would look a lot different"" (as in the players moved)
I like Kluber but if they can deal him while he still has some value, I'm all for it. I can see a decline coming and have been kind of leery about him since 2017. I know he's put up good numbers but something has just seemed "off" with him and I'd rather they part with him before he falls off the cliff. Now granted, I wouldn't deal him for a sack of magic beans....needs to make sense and bring back some value.
I think they are just trying to stay competitive up until Lindor becomes a Yankee. Also think, as composed, even with adding a few pieces this team isn't a legit championship threat.
Santana coming home, and EE to Seattle! Love the upgrade. Odd with contracts and salary...
Now just gotta dump Yonders sorry ass on someone. Yandy can hit DH for all I care, and now we have a potential GG at 1B, so don’t need a big return for Yonder (not that he would garner one anyway).
What is Seattle doing?
EDIT: maybe not straight up. Tampa may be involved as a 3rd team.
Indians also sending someone to Tampa. I dunno about Carlos production but loved him. Oh shit Yandy gone too and Indians getting Jake Bowers.
An article on Bauers from Tampa from before he came to majors (and only hit .200).

Net result...
we get Santana back and Jake Bauers from the Rays... for Edwing and Yandy Diaz.
WTF🤦♂️
Yeah, this one's definitely a "WTF" for me.
Santana is so much better for this team than Edwin. Not even an argument. Yandy to Tampa sucks. Wanted to see what he could do for a full season.
I don't find it as bad as some of you. Yandy is 28 with huge muscles and no position. Maybe a full year at 3rd this year would have turned it around, but he may be one of those guys who needed a change of scenery (Brandon Philips). The guy we are getting was a top prospect and has a low k rate and sees a lot of pitches (from what I've been able to gather from twitter.
As for EE or Santana, I liked Santana when he was here, and he is the same price for 2ish years than EE this year. Also sees a lot of pitches. I'm meh on the trade, but not thinking wtf.
Well ....we lose a draft pick and a minor league pitcher as well. We get some cash considerations. I guess a positive side is that we get younger. Santana is 32 compared to EE who is 34.... Bauers is 23 compared to Yandy at 27.
I think Yandy is just a pure hitter. Hit about .300 in extended time this year and he still hasn’t tweaked his swing for power. That’s really impressive for a guy of his stature. No position is a problem, but he wasn’t awful at 3B, and that makes Kipnis a bench player, which is a plus. Oh well.
Bauers had an OBP 113 points HIGHER than his average (which sucked at .201). But I like the approach. Santana like, and he can play corner OF. I turkey think we get much better by dumping EE and adding Santana.
He can hit 1/2/4/5/6. Walks a ton, more speed, is one of the best base runners in baseball and Gold Glove caliber at first. Edwin was the RH power bat we needed in 2017, and he delivered perfectly. But we don’t need that now, and Santana is better for the club, despite a few less HRs (but still similar slugging).
This also means Yonder is like 99% gone, which is a plus.
I’m not advocating for the Klhber trade, it if they can shore up the OF, get younger and more athletic as well as deeper by dealing him...the Tribe will have gotten much better this offseason. Not sure what else we can ask from upper management.
Sounds like with Yandy gone, JRam goes back to 3rd and Kip stays at 2B.

I would think that would be the case.

In the not too distant past I'd ask during football season "when does baseball start", and now it appears during baseball season I'll be asking just the opposite :(
Alonso to the White Sox.
Tribe gets AA outfielder Alex Call.....salary dump. Tribe clears $8 million off the books.
Alonso hit .250 with 23 HRs and 83 RBIs... WAR of .7
