Less than a year and those irritating people will be noisy for an amount of time….until something else outrages them.

Regardless of the decision, there will be those outraged at the outcome. One game and the Watson supporters will say "too much, no evidence" while one year will have the detractors saying "should've been a lifetime ban."

I think the guy definitely has poor judgment. My take on this is that the dude probable was a club hopper, pre-COVID, and hooked up at the bars, clubs, etc. When COVID hit, that was all taken away and he looked to find a more "creative" avenue.

The most believable of the women was that Solis who that had on HBO but it sounds like she offered to "make this go away" for 100k before all of the other names started leaking.

I really don't think we'll ever really know the truth on this.

Baker traded to Carolina. It makes the opener more interesting.

Timing is interesting. I am now conspiricy theorist, but wonder if they have some inside info on Watson length. Of course, I also believe there was zero change Baker was suiting up for the Browns this year, so that would make the timing irrelevant.

Best of luck #6....except for week 1. You brought the city a lot of excitement for a short period of time. Ball out AFTER week 1.

On this trade, the Browns got a 5th rounder that could become a 5th rounder, depending on playing time. Browns ate $10.5m of the salary, Carolina ate $5m and Mayfield agreed to reduce his salary $3.8m.

This whole post confuses me.

They got a 5th that can turn into a 5th?

The Browns paid 10.5, Carolina paid 5, but banker only gets 3.8 of that 15.5?

Nevermind, I am a moron on the salary part, I didn't pick up on the fact that Mayfield reduced his salary by that much. Basically he was going to get 19million, got reduced by 3.5 to 15.5 of which the Browns paid 10.5 and Panthers paid 5.

Clear as mud lol

5th can become a 4th.

Browns pay 10.5, Carolina pays 5. Remaining 3.8 has been voided by Baker.

Thanks on the pick, the money part I figured out once I stopped being a moron.

Typo. Laley corrected it. 5th can turn into 4th. Also sounds like it's a 2024 pick.

So about as useful as a Snickers left in the car in the summer, and we paid $10.5m just for that melted Snickers.

I know its a "win" for the Browns because if they cut him they would owe more than $10.5 and would have got no draft pick, just still hilarious what his going rate was at the end of the day and people are trying to say we would be better off with him over Watson (when the trade was first made...)

From a football standpoint, even if Watson is out the entire year, trading for Watson was a homerun. It is as if people forget the guy was an MVP candidate and Top-5 QB in most major metrics his last 2 years he played.

For a franchise like the Browns especially, its a no brainer.

You can argue all you want about bringing a person like him to the organization and whitewashing his alleged crimes. But as far as the football goes, it isn't even a discussion.

As far as your second paragraph goes, it just goes to show Mayfield's perceived "value" around the league.

If they released him, someone would've jumped on him immediately.

The 18.8m price tag (which is EXTREMELY cheap for a perceived starting QB) should've been enough for a team to trade for him but the injury and perceived leadership/not the greatest locker room guy rumors didn't help his cause.

I think it’s been telling what the market is for Mayfield.  I wish the guy well, but I can’t help but think he’s already topped out by a long shot.

Biggest issue is that it sounds like he feels he's fine and doesn't need coaching. Months back when asked if he was going to work with a QB coach in the offseason to work out some issues, his response was something to the effect of "I don't need a QB coach. I can just watch tape and fix it myself."

I’ve heard this kind of thing too.  I love Baker’s spirit, but he seem like he’s very stubborn and also needs to get some humility with respect to his teammates.

This is part of the problem with him. When fans describe Mayfield we hear "he's got spirit, moxie, attitude....he's a gamer." Who were the QB's who fit that description in the past? Colt McCoy & Charlie Frye.

You never hear "Baker will lead this team to a SB." "I'm confident he can bring us back from a 14 point deficit in the 4th quarter." "He's an elite franchise QB, etc."

Now I will say for a stretch in 2020 he played at an elite level but don't confuse that with being an elite player.

Again, wish him the best except week 1.

This just keeps getting worse and worse for the league. Brian Flores, Robert Kraft, Gruden, Snyder and now trying to force a square peg into a round hold with this Watson situation. Goodell needs to go.

And I'm not going to bet on it but I think there's a good chance we see Baker vs Watson in week 1.

From the outside (and I’m not rooting for bad things for the Browns)….this stuff is all exhausting.

Will be cool to see actual games

I find it hard to believe nothing happened with Watson and some of the women. But there's a good chance the ones lying will ruin it for the ones who were actual victims.
