And apparently Nat pitcher Shawn Kelley got DFA'd after the game for coming in for mop-up time, giving up a home run and throwing his glove down and glaring into the dugout because he was pissed they made him go out there in a complete blowout.

And if there's a team that needs to send messages to players, it's probably the Nats. Talent-wise, they're a really good team, but there they are at .500 consistently giving that "whatever" vibe to the degree that they can legit murder the fuck out of another team and still wind up with unnecessary drama.

Five games out of the wild card can be made up, but if their club mentality doesn't change, they're toast. Hell, I read the reason they traded Kintzler was because they were suspecting him of leaking "iffy mentality" quotes to the media. They just seem to be a mess to the degree that they've gotta be looking at the "Papelbon fighting Harper days" as good times.

Damn. Greg Gibson just called out Soto on terrible pitch, called Harper out on a pitch 5 inches high and then stared down Harper....rings up Eaton on crap....all in Washington. Next AB Harper HR and Soto comes up and gets tossed, then he tosses Martinez and stares at dugout for at least a minute.

100% all about him power trip

I like the Nats way more than the Cubs and hate that Max lost out on #17...but screw you Ryan Madson you jack ass. How’s it feel?

Mets beat Phillies 24-4 and Mike Kingery pitches the 8th and 9th and not sure he was cracking 45 mph...or maybe even 40.

I hate they won’t even allow back up infielders to actually throw the ball now in these scenarios.

Throwing at batters needs to stop.  Should be higher fines and suspensions when clearly intentional

What do you think is the reasoning for not letting infielders "throw" the ball when they bring them in to pitch?

I truly feel for all the poor children in the Little League World Series who've worked so hard this year, only to have to watch the Mets tonight. They may lose their love of baseball forever...

In his debut with the Red Sox, Brandon Phillips hit a game-winning two-run homer in the top of the 9th to complete coming back from being down 7-1 to win 9-8.

Wow!

How old is he now?

It seems like 20 years ago that he was with the Tribe.
