I forgot a bit how much I love baseball.

Every hard hit ball with any elevation is a HR

If healthy....Bonds record is in trouble. Giancarlo in those 5 homer friendly ballparks for way over 120 games

Also, Rusty Staub passed away. A great career for a good I’92 trivia question

A 3 HR day today.........the 4th to do so I think. I know Griffey JR did once..whom were the others?

Yeah, I really missed baseball. I missed last year being overseas so it has been a very l o n g time.

I think I used Staub's baseball card in the spokes of my tires as a kid!  Seemed like I got one every time I bought a pack!

and of course...the season doesn't "start" until the Redlegs play!

You hear the call for the Happ leadoff HR?  The announcer was talking all about his first at bat HRs and wouldn't be surprised if he took a huge cut on the very first pitch.

PRetty much nailed it.

Philly's manager seems to be a total waste of brain cells when it comes to managing a staff.

With one out in the ninth and nobody on in a 7-0 game, Baltimore catcher Chance Sisco laid down a bunt against the shifted Twins defense, allowing him to reach base with a single. The Orioles had just one hit before the Sisco bunt, but ended up loading the bases before Minnesota shut things down for the win and that seemed to be that.

The Minnesota Twins were quite aggrieved by the bunt against the shift trailing by seven in the ninth inning. Twins second baseman Brian Dozier and pitcher Jose Berrios were not at all pleased and made it clear after the game.

The Twins were putting their shift in action against Sisco, meaning they clearly still saw merit in going out of their way defensively to prevent the catcher from getting on base. If Minnesota feels justified in doing that, why is Sisco in the wrong for taking advantage of their defensive alignment and getting himself an easy single? You don’t get to employ a certain strategy in a blowout and then get upset when an opponent exploits it instead of rolling over and playing dead. It’s a silly controversy, and the Twins don’t look good for whining about it afterward.

I agree the Twins are idiots for thinking this way!  What are the Orioles hitters supposed to be trying to do -- just getting on base.  The Twins probably also take exception to the opponents swinging at 3-0 pitches!

I love baseball but that stuff is petty and I simply hate it.

I concur.  Ya need base runners down that much but in the grand scheme of things he likely used the situation as real game action practice to do so later on.   A Natinal squared twice against the shift vs the reds

Brutal. He left 8 guys on base and Gregorious knocked all 8 of them in. Talk about picking up a teammate!

Stanton said it was Didi’s job as clean up hitter to pick up the trash in front of him.
