I wrote a message to some Broadway actor who was soliciting contributions for the march tomorrow, noting that the amount of money raised at that point (approx. $3 million) would fund a high quality metal detector in every high school in Florida and might be a better use of the money than a virtue-signaling rally. Not surprisingly, no response.

Sounds like a bitchin' industrial arts project!
I have some big books. Not going to use this to smuggle a gun or anything, but might be fun to hide stuff in there.

A flask is always a winning idea!
I was actually thinking of turning the book into a cigar ash tray, but maybe I'll just make it three books. Ash tray, humidor, and flask. Sounds like a good time.

If you and the media want to treat these kids as the moral authority,
They are not a moral authority to me. I don’t happen to agree with much that they say. They are certainly naive and they’re also being used in some ways. I just don’t see where all of us need to be relentless about insulting them. Ignore them. This is going to go away. It always does. I remember after Columbine - almost 20 years ago, many conservatives were convinced that Clinton was going to take all their guns away. Guess what - it never happened.
This is too shall pass.

They want to play in the big leagues, they better be prepared for the inside pitch.

"Don't you think everyone should have a right to safety?"
I saw a lot of people in DC yesterday more/less foot stomping this "point." They think it is some mic drop argument, but the irony is lost on them. It brings the lulz.

They are basically saying they have a right to "feel" safe. Well, I "feel" safest when I'm armed, so...

Rick Santorum's public career needs to just die a quiet death of irrelevance. It'll be just as effective, and he'll come out looking better.

I don't "feel" safe. I should march on Washington.

Yes, "freedom" is more important than the illusion of safety, which is what you're asking for. Think critically for once in your life, people.

what totally gets me is that these kids could have said hi to him or been in a class group with him or invited him to a birthday party. Maybe all he wanted was kindness and they failed to give it to him
Thousands of kids every year for decades have been ignored or mistreated and not shot up their schools because of it. Hope this helps.
