If I had a brown gun, I'd name it Ahmed. That way, I'd scare Republicans and Democrats equally with it.

Just started following a week ago, pretty solid.
I posted a meme about this in the meme thread:
Those of you in favor of adding some sort of private contracted security for our schools, be it volunteer or paid; what is your opinion on our military using private contractors, like Blackwater?
posted by HOF on coattailswhat is your opinion on our military using private contractors...
My guess is there are only about 800k people and their families who support it (that's how many civilian contractors the DoD employs).
BTW Dicks lied. They are still selling ARs.

Well, doesn't that just make them a bunch of ...?

Yes, yes it does.
Another school shooting today in Maryland. Apparently the resource officer ended the threat. Is the media going to blow this up too if the kid had a pistol?

"There was no immediate information about any injuries or deaths."

"three injured in shooting'
All I can find is one news agency is reporting "three injured" so lets wait and see.
* Nobody will argue that the AR 15 isn't a better choice in tactical situations, over a pistol.

I'm jumping the gun because I haven't heard the details yet, but that would seem to me to strengthen the idea that we need armed protection in schools. (Even if it's not teachers)

I haven't heard. How did he end the threat?

With adequate space, a rifle is a better choice than a pistol, yes.

A good guy with a gun ... which is how it works if there is ever a bad person/bad people with guns.

Shot and wounded him. Officer came out uninjured

Since a good guy with a gun ended the situation, the CNN types will barely acknowledge that it even happened.
Saw stats the other day....school shootings have more than doubled in the past 10 years vs. the couple decades prior.
Guns aren't exactly more accessible to these people. I think what's changing is the way everyone loses their shit over every school shooting, it's made it a more infamously appealing thing to do for these kids.
Doesn't seem like the media bothers asking "what can the media do?" to change things. If they ask that question of themselves at all, it's only with respect to changing attitudes on gun control. Although I do think most of them are shallow and self-absorbed Ron Burgundy-types who are just voices reading what's on the teleprompter.

Meanwhile, the serial bomber in Austin gets 1/10th the coverage a shooter does. CNN types losing interest if the guy isn't racially motivated.

Link? This article states that schools are safer from shootings than in the 90s.
Also, good news, the shooter is dead. Story will now die within a week. Ho hum

Whether there are more or less may depend on the use of a reasonable definition of what a school shooting is vs. the Everytown or CNN definition.

Ehh, saw the data somewhere else. Should have known better than to trust the source.
Your link was interesting.
It appears today's shooting in Maryland ended when a good guy with a gun was able to quickly engage the bad guy with a gun.
Although there is more we do not know yet.
First five stories on CNN front page about Trump accusers. No mention of school shooting.

I noticed earlier they were the last one to put it front and center

I don't know. Right now on the front page of CNN.com is 4 articles related to Trump/Cambridge/Facebook. 3 articles on Trump accusers. And 3 more articles on Trump and Russia. 2 articles on Ben Carson and furniture. 1 article on the school shooting, and 1 article on the Austin bomber.
Yeah, that's fair and balanced coverage of the relevant stories of the day.
