I don't think either side has a monopoly on it.  Try debating man-made global warming.

The commonality is the use of junk science under the pretense of an academic argument, and it's almost exclusively from the left.  The right may have extreme and somewhat irrational views, but you're allowed to do that when the actual science is on your side.

Long story short, the gun-grabbers have zero chance in a fact-based debate on the topic, so they resort to made up terms, and then when called on it, pretend that their misstatements of fact are mere semantics. When you correct their errors, those made from ignorance, or those intentionally made to incite, they make up a word for that as well.

That's has been the tactic on just about every issue.  A pathological need to win in this country has replaced all common sense and logic.

They do have one matching IP, but that IP also matches another poster (ts1227).

What I was trying to say is that similar to the "gunsplaining" from the right to the left is the "warmsplainig" that goes on from left to right.  The logic: If you don't have an intimate knowledge of firearms, you should not have a say in gun safety; or, if you do not have scientist's expertise on climatology, you should not have an say on what you see as the fallacy of man made global warming.

It's not equivalent, though.  Because if you dive into some of the research and actual scientific debate - which is fairly easy with Google - you'd see the "facts" and "consensus" often reported on climate change is, for lack of a better word, fake news (when it comes to catastrophic warming, which for all intents and purposes should be on life support as a theory, much less ever having been "fact").

I was using climate change as an example.  My original point was that there are plenty of examples of both sides using the other's lack of expertise as a way to stop the debate.

Your infatuation with said is disturbing.  This is twice you've accused me of being him.

Quoting HOF from the memes thread, trying to move that discussion over here since he can't read, apparently.

Why can't I read, apparently?   Sorry, I didn't know having similar conversations in more than one thread wasn't allowed around here.

You didn't know a thread called "Memes" isn't a place for conversation?

Speaking of other violence, has anyone seen all of the news about Sweden's grenade attacks? I think people made fun of Trump for saying Sweden once, but it's pretty messed up.

Quick google article

Headed to Stockholm a week from Sunday, so obvi pretty excited to see some greande attacks.

What false-attributable arguments do you see coming from the right?  I'm genuinely curious, because the only one I can think of is drugs, and I suppose voter ID.  Abortion is purely a morality debate.

Seriously.  The left is not the party of science but the party of junk science.

I specifically said in that thread to continue the discussion here, because it wasn't memes. And then you continued the discussion there.

The problem with people who have no idea about guns talking about gun control, is that they want to ban the scary black rifle, but an mini 14 can do the exact same thing. An m14 is a better caliber semi auto. Semi auto pistols are just as dangerous at close range. And when they start spouting bull shit about full auto or shoulder things that go up, and they think we should ban those weapons...

When the assault weapon ban was in place, they banned some rifles by name and some with a certain combination on features. As you would expect the manufacturers changed the names of those rifles and built rifles that were just as functional but did not include the combination of features. (I believe one of the features was a bayonet lug)

I can't decide if I'd rather have an FDE or olive drab/foliage green rifle.

Just more "gunsplaining" from the people who don't  care about dead children.
