If the guy is dead, aren't you supposed to NOT mess with a body until investigators clear the scene?

Not saying the cop wasn’t justified, but not surprised to see those two things left out of the riveting discussion you guys are having on here.

The cop should have done some questioning to the man before shooting? What about running? Maybe the man was just trying to give the cop a hug and he ran?!

Nowhere in any news did either of those things get mentioned when I had about 15-20 minutes of morning reading. I don't care what happened or how, if someone is running at me with a knife...I'm shooting. The cop was called on a domestic violence call. The last thing I checked was "violence" doesn't typically mean "nice things." Sorry I cannot understand your narrative here.

EDIT: was able to do some additional digging. He was not autistic, from the reports I read. He was bipolar and schizophrenic. His sister called to try to get him "involuntarily committed." He had an episode and was off his medication.

The deceased also was involved in an altercation in March 2019 where he stabbed 4 people, including a 16-year-old boy in the face. In May 2015 he was charged with stalking, harassment, and trespassing.

So, if any of this was known by the responding officer, then the officer knew there was a chance more violence could occur...maybe.

It's a sad story. I cannot begin to understand mental illness. I wish there was more that could be done to prevent it, and prevent incidents like this.

I have an autistic son. If my autistic son charged at a police officer with a deadly weapon and died...I would be heart broken, but inevitably I would blame myself for letting him be in that situation and/or do such a thing.

Anyone blaming the cop is a moron.

The the people in that house should have done a better job handling the situation.  BTW, If they scooped up the body in 20 minutes someone would be yelling about it being too quick

Lol that Lebron stuff is the dumbest shit ever. Why is it his job or responsibility to help catch the gunman? Seems like law enforcement should be doing that!

*Edited since killer isn't really the right word.

Well, this is the sheriff who came under a bit of fire due to trying to cover up that a bunch of his deputies were taking unauthorized pics of the deceased after Kobe's fatal crash, so doing dumb shit in regards to famous basketball players isn't exactly a new thing for this dude.

False, especially without any context.  The department doesn't defend or pay settlements, insurance companies do it, and they always do it to minimize their expense.

It is public record. Of course the taxpayers or insurance pay depending on the city  but the numbers are  100 percent accurate..but please provide a link and educate me if I’m wrong

Because we can’t worry about multiple things

I've never heard of a gang inside a dept, but damn!

Anyway, 1 million dollar bails for some of the violent rioters in Lancaster. That stopped things rather quickly.

Just found out about one that no one has ever really talked about. Yes, it happened in 2015, but it involved a black officer shooting and killing a white woman. The officer reported to a domestic disturbance call, apparently was attacked by a dog (suffered one bite), slipped on the ice, and discharged his firearm (twice) accidentally striking Autumn Steele [once] who had her young child beside her.

The officer can be heard on video telling his partner: "Oh, my God, no! Oh, fuck, Tim! Shit, Tim! I'm fucking going to prison, Tim!"

He did not go to prison. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

Yes, and if we don't button things up we will be like Mexico in a heartbeat.

We are either going to have law and order, or we are finished.  The choice (on Nov. 3) has never been clearer.

Biggest election I've ever voted in...excep 2016, 2012, 2008, 2004, 2000, 1996, 1992 and 1988.

I am not saying the numbers are not accurate, I am saying the way you portrayed it is not accurate without full context.

Yeah, we're never coming anywhere close to as bad as Mexico.

The left and right-wing violence isn't organizing murders.  The shootings we see are mostly lone wolfs that simply adopted the ideology.  Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think the ideology creates domestic terrorists.

The property destruction and riots, on the other hand, is mostly left-wing.  Although I think a lot of it is Antifa-type groups that I'm not sure "left wing" is an accurate description.  And the right-wing groups are now coming out to actively resist that, but until recent years the right-wing groups mostly just got dressed up, had a parade and went home without incident.
