So the initial post was on instagram, and then someone screenshotted it and posted in on twitter.
I read it and the replies.
She is absolutely a moron and made a terrible decision. No doubt about that. The thing I have a hard time with is "ruining" opportunities for people to better themselves and get educated. Not just her in this situation, but this is a continuous thing on social media about "blasting" people to their employers, schools, teams, etc. Digging up everything from family, significant others, bosses, etc.
People should face a consequence for their actions. But, is it truly necessary to harm their future? I have a real hard time with that. Sure, report them to the potential people they may be associated with. Does it need blasted? Is there a point where we can address it individually, or with a few close people to report it? If nothing is done, then take the next step.
I just can't see calling for everything to be terminated for someone for saying something. Send them through counseling. Make them do some community service. I just think there are better approaches than putting someone "on blast."
