I think about this, too. What kind of person stands by and lets this happen?  It’s incredulous to me. Actions similar to this, when I was teaching, happened often. (And I’m talking about those knowing things being done that should not be and saying/doing nothing)

So I just watched the video. Sickening. I’m proud of the people who tried to help.  And how the fuck was the guy supposed to get up and get in the car? 🤦

Nothing in any way acceptable what that officer did....he should rot in hell.

I feel this is a safe place for me to ask this. I’m confused about the rage a bit. Any cop killing anyone is awful obviously. Aren’t more white people killed by cops than any other race? I’m ignorant on this....someone kindly help me out. My FB is blown up talking about white cops murdering black people. If they are only killing black people I get it, but numbers I saw show way more white people are killed by cops. I get this particular individual one and there have been several others in recent time.

Apparently, if you're a white guy holding a regular, non-cop job in Ohio and a white cop does something like this in a completely different state, that is reason to be really nervous about how racist or not you are. For reasons, I guess. I mean, if my reaction to this killing was "OMG! I'm not racist, but people are gonna think I am now that this happened!!!!", my guess is that people might have reason to call into question just how "non-racist" I actually am.

A lot of the time these officer involved deaths are portrayed on social media in an incredibly biased way that fail to portray the full picture of the situation at hand.

This isn't one of those times.

Officer deserves his day in court and he should spend the rest of his life behind bars.

That all being said, what drives me up a wall when news like this comes out is reading the dumbass twitter/facebook posts implying that these two cops are representative of how most/all officers would handle that situation and start throwing out random statistics like officer involved deaths.

Are there bad apples in law enforcement? Absolutely. That can be said of any profession and it's probably unavoidable.

Are there a disproportionate amount of bad apples in law enforcement? Probably. They have perceived "power" above people, that's going to go to some of their heads, no matter how wrong it seems on the surface.

However, the nature of their profession means that they are significantly more likely to have to get into a physical altercation with someone being a fuckhead. People on drugs/alcohol acting erratically, people who don't want to be arrested, etc could all lead to an officer getting into a physical altercation with someone. Basically every other profession doesn't have that risk of "okay, I have to throw down and get cuffs on this guy/gal". Hell, most professions probably don't even involve laying a hand on another person. A police officer is likely to do that multiple times daily.

I'm not saying that accidental deaths are acceptable because they are not, but their profession is going to have a disproportionate amount of injury/deaths because of the dumb shit they deal with day to day.

They don't just slip through cracks. How many of these officers have disciplinary records? How many are for excessive use of force? How many have been accused of domestic violence? Why is it so hard to fire a shitty police officer? Many fired officers are hired back, sometimes because of an administrative error during the investigation. There are major problems with a lot of LEAs.
