I think most of that manufacturing capacity is in China. It would be hard to tool-up for that in a few months, and it's unlikely that someone making car parts is going to change over to making masks, if it were even feasible. Plus, simply "if you pay enough" you have to consider that process starts with someone making the tooling. And with a shortage of that you have to go back even another tier to the people who make the tooling to make the tooling (yes, that's a real thing). All that takes time, even if you're writing a blank check.
A year or two from now under reasonable economics, sure. But we're 3 months into this and we still barely have enough masks for healthcare workers.
I actually used to do a newsletter for a company that produces tooling equipment. I hadn't really considered what all would be involved in that, so perhaps you're right. At least in the short-term, it's probably not feasible. Not with any kind of non-homemade masks, anyway.
But as you said, it's not likely the kids would keep them on well anyway.

They're carriers of everything known to man. Their R0 numbers are off the charts. They'll be fine. Grandma, dad, etc. not so much.
Idiot.
It baffles me that people cannot understand that point. It’s not about the kids getting it or regular healthy people getting it or whatever, it’s about them passing it to others who are more vulnerable. And they’d have no idea they did it.

I imagine it's often choosing to pretend not to understand. Easier than making their case honestly.

There is more evidence that kids do not only get infected much, they are also very poor carriers (i.e. they don't spread it easily).

Got my haircut. It was fine except Skip Bayless was on the TV trying to argue Patrick Mahomes is overrated.

Got a haircut today as well.
Clear shower curtains between each chair. All barbers wearing masks. My head feels a lot lighter.

I am sick of hearing about positive tests......how about how many people are actually sick from it? Already established that upwards of 40% of people dont even have symptoms or mild cold like symptoms.
Smart people understand that the large number of asymptomatic carriers is a large part of why this virus is so dangerous. Not surprised that you don't get it.

I hate to ever agree with CC, but the numbers of asymptomatic carriers we are now understanding to be realistic (30-40 times the actual reported cases) leads to believe the death rate and how bad this virus is is WAY overstated.
One California/USC study and one study in NY showed you can multiply the actual cases by 30-40, as they tested random samples of people for the antibodies.
If these studies are right, that means 48 MILLION people in the US have had it already which takes the death rate from 6% down to 0.2%.
You agreed with CC...auto loss

The actual death rate will always be an estimate and will not be a remotely accurate estimate until a couple of years after the virus is gone or all but gone. Absolute wrong stat to guide policy.
