Think it was QQ for Justin and OTrap because their ideas of limited government DO NOT include spending tons of wasted money on meaningless shit like the "war" on drugs. And just recently, CC was insinuating that about Gut because of differing views on what a coup actually is (on the "Dipshit Righty Conspiracy Thread" or whatever it's actually called).

Sure, that's the over-the-top blind partisan hack segment, but they also are, along with maybe ICL, the only prolific posters here who are aligned "R" and not "Libertarian with conservative tendencies for at least financial issues", since a lot of the pure R crowd from back in the day also either no longer post here or at least rarely hit this forum.

I think mine was the result of saying tariffs were anti-free market and that Trump is a shitty president.

But yeah, spending money fighting the personal recreational use of drugs or to "spread democracy" is stupid as hell, too.

On a related note, since Mueller wrapped-up all the cable news networks have had huge ratings declines (in before "Fox wasn't nearly as big as CNN and MSNBC...").

So obviously people do get engrossed with speculation and hyperbole.  Doesn't portend a happy and needed change in journalism - I think we'll see more and more "mainstream" conspiracy theories pushed to collect eyeballs.  Let's face it - when journalists stick strictly to the facts, they don't make much money.

C-bus still posts once in a blue moon, Boat Shoes, I don't think Isadore crossed over from the old OC, Ptown is left. Those are just some of the old posters that I can think of immediately.

I’ll give you ptown. Although he claims he’s not liberal (kinda like how jmog claims he’s not a right winger).

But cbus and boat shoes post maybe once a month, if that.

So this guy on twitter went off on a 450 chain tweet after the news conference yesterday. https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status/1119099537656664064

Has anybody here ever saw somebody chain tweet like that, regardless of the topic?

I read maybe 5 of them and he went nuts. Basically twisting every word he could find in the report to say something it didn’t.

His final summary was that he wasn’t going to talk obstruction but conspiracy/collusion definitely happened. It is like he lives in a different reality.

Well... as someone who used to work peripherally in world building in games I can understand the very real anger, frustration and desolation that would erupt if somebody came along and wiped it all away or said that all of it was wrong/useless. I can see cussing a few times, maybe knocking a flower pot on the floor lol. I get it. I guess that is why I can *kinda* empathize with media of all types who have also been world building for two years and the reactions that are gonna happen. But I would would like to think that I would catch myself and stop going into the 200th tweet. Or maybe somebody close to me would tell me to walk away from the computer for a bit. I don't know.

Yeah the left leaning posters (at least the posters who are normally active in the politics forum) do not post as frequently anymore.  Ptwon is definitely left-wing.  More moderate than others, but he is definitely left-wing. When you're that much of an Obama apologist, there is 0 argument for saying you are not left wing.

BS used to post a lot more, zwick (Bernie supporter) used to be active. Gibby comes around 4 months before the election with his new username pretending not to be gibby, isadore was full retard and isnt around, sleeper was pretty conservative then as a troll went full retard left, heretic is left wing moderate, COA stays away from the politics forum, fly4fail is gone,  mohican is gone, i wear pants hasn't been here in a long time, and geeblock is left-wing.

Those are some I can think on the top of my head.  None are really as active as they used to be.  Heretic keeps his political posts to body bagging Quaker lol.

Edit: http://archive.ohiochatter.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?12-Politics  A lot has changed since the old OC.

Yeah when the Marine Corps band plays the song Edelweiss and some members of the press corps insinuate its a Nazi dog whistle its getting pretty disgusting.

I agree with that. Political discourse has basically turned into this thing where it's like a sports rivalry between two fanbases that hate the others' team, except 1000 times more obnoxious. Center's post about the Seth Abramson 450-tweet thread is kind of the epitome of that -- a dude who went 6-to-midnight the instant the Mueller investigation started, immediately starting making tweet threads about it and what he expected to see, continued doing that the entire time that the investigation was ongoing and now seemingly has snapped due to the actual results not being what he was predicting and declaring for the past eternity or so. Pretty much the left-wing version of QQ and CC on this forum's derpy right-wing conspiracy thread. Shit's annoying as hell regardless of what side's doing it. Basically a denial of reality, replacing it with your personal hopes.

Question about what Bernie Sanders said at his townhall - that people in prison should be allowed to vote.
I can see having the discussion of letting petty criminals have it, I'm open to the idea of compromising on it if it is done in good faith. I'm specifically talking about petty shoplifting, not paying your taxes, just the run-of-the-mill "small" crimes. But I think you have to be off your nut to suggest or flat out say that terrorists, murderers, rapists and the like should be allowed to vote.

Is this something that the public should start talking about more or nah? And if so, where should the line be drawn?

No, nothing wrong with opinions.  But extremely ignorant opinions, like pretty much everything you spout about economics, is definitely moronic.  That's not name-calling, just noting a fact.

I thought only convicted felons couldn't vote (which rules out petty crimes like shoplifting)?

Apparently, in Canada and other countries felons can vote, even from jail.  That doesn't make it right or justify Bernie's position.  You commit a crime, and go to jail, you're forfeiting liberty which presumably would include the right to vote.  Once out on parole, or at least having completely served one's sentence, there's probably a debate to have.

Looks to be a pretty divisive issue, with even Cher going off the rails over Bernie's answer.  Someone is getting a stern rebuke for asking that question!

And here Gut provides an ironic and good self-owning example of how even the most prominent crazy left person in American politics is not even as progressive as what is considered normal in much/most of the western world - but yet the American left is OFF The RAILS!!! (fwiw I don't support felons voting in prison - making my views on this issue much more conservative than the majority of the world - SJW's hang me in the streets. But hey, the CRAZY LEFT).

Here's a list of felony voting in other countries - The U.S. being one of only four that has post-release restrictions:

The "CRAZY LEFT" folk on here just like to say that because they disagree so much with the "CRAZY LEFT" folk because they're so far right. It's not actually crazy left, it's just left. But they're so far right, that it is viewed in their eyes as CRAZY LEFT.

And yet they don't realize it. And when someone like me tells them that, I'm called a troll or accused of being sleeper, or an idiot.

If the left isn’t the crazy left America is in trouble. The best polling current candidate being a life long socialist is insane. Wanting murderers to vote while in jail is insane. If these are common beliefs then the left is dumb as fuck.

And you have been a little bitch on here, not a troll. You just deflect instead of answering questions or what you’re actual beliefs are. And I don’t pretend to not be right, so don’t group me in with that. But I’m also not republican bc they suck too.

This is true. They haven't been anywhere near fiscally conservative since... seems like ever.
