People ruin politics. For the past couple years, the left in general has gone full Quaker with daily "the sky is falling" rants that mean nothing because any rational person can see that the world hasn't come to an end yet and doesn't seem to be on the verge of doing so

It's horrible.  I can't watch CNN, or Jimmy Kimmel, or Bill Maher and others any more.  If you want to be negative about policy, fine, that's worthwhile.  But the constant personal attacks and juicy "scandals" (most of which appear to be complete bullshit) just makes these people insufferable to listen to.

Apparently their audience just NEVER tires of talking about what a jerk Trump is....or the ever popular, what a jerk Trump MIGHT be - for when they run out of actual examples so they come up with hypotheticals where they speculate how horribly Trump might respond.

Trump as a business man:  Highly regarded by all and repsected by dems (hence he donated to Clintons before), known as a international business man.  Never called a racist, bigot, homophobe.

Trump as president:  Opposite of above.

From his post, he's blathering about "repsect"! And also making up random shit that might not have much to do with reality, but does go a long way to illustrating how his point of view starts with "derp" and ends there, as well.

you guys have blinders on.  Trump used to be guests on Oprah, 60 minutes and other TV shows all the time back in the day.  Major magazine articles and other outlets.  He was regarded as a smart international businessman.  He was liked by both sides of the political spectrum.  Now that he is president he is regarded as an idiot, racist, bigot, etc.......

He is the only person in this equation that is still the same.  Everyone else has changed.

Trump was not highly regarded by all.  He has had success in business, but he has also had big failures.  Going back to the 1980s, his name was out there usually because he self-promoted very hard.  He then became a reality show character in recent years.

Your description sounds more like Warren Buffet.  Trump was never in a category like that.

Who gives a shit? Stop being a whiny douchebag all the time. Who cares he was on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women, he was on Oprah 30 years ago!

There's the crux of the matter.  Just keep on "not watching".  Those shows are entertainment shows needing ratings.  If the audience continues to watch in the right numbers while they go on and on about Trump, then that's what they'll continue to do.  Don't forget that those guys are comedians.  They've no relevant expertise to current or world affairs.  They're catering to the same like-minded people every night.  I don't know what they audience demographic is, but I'd guess it skews younger than 40 and is not a cross-section of the population.

No matter who you are, you will ALWAYS be better off watching Road House if you're up late at night.  You can learn anything you need from the sage Dalton.  "Pain don't hurt."

Yeah, I rarely watch Bill Maher any more.  It's an interesting show, and pre-Trump the bullshit was just barely tolerable enough..but no more.

Although I will tune-in to see the meltdowns and spin if the Mueller report is as underwhelming as being speculated - it's going to be like Star Wars fanatics after the release of Episode 1.

And whatever happened to CNN/Fox covering actual news?  Even the daytime straight news coverage is almost all political, save the occasional natural disaster or plane crash.

No.  He was a personality, a marketing/branding savant but hardly a savvy business guy.

I know people who are big time negotiators/deal makers and they say his book "The Art of the Deal" is a complete joke.  Nothing all that brilliant about leveraging power/size over the little guy.

Outrageous how that zealot is manipulating and using those children to push her agenda.  That "12 years" comment wasn't just bad science, or even fake science...it's flat out propaganda.  It seems, as climate change hysteria continues to lose its luster, that activists are resorting to more and more extreme warnings, probably hoping to move the center left by pushing the extreme further and further out.

Yes, imagine the kind of hysteria being taught in that classroom for those kids to act that way.  That's shameful - you're convincing little kids their future is over before they even graduate highschool.  Makes you wonder about the parents, who not only aren't getting that teacher fired but apparently are cool with their kids being used as political props.

As for Feinstein, it's always interesting when politicians forget about cellphones and accidentally act rationally with a rare grasp of reality.

Well, I imagine it might be hard for a dodgeball teacher to comprehend, but I don't think I'm the only person on this board who knows and has worked with people worth $100M+.

And, umm, you don't have to be rich or even a bigshot to be doing contracts for tens of millions of dollars at a Fortune 500.  Or leading an acquisition on a multi-billion dollar deal.

That whole video makes my head hurt.

1.  Why is she talking to these kids this way?  Unreal.  The 16 year old is right when she asked who voted for her.

2.  What is this teacher trying to accomplish by letting those kids spew that crap about the world ending.  SHe is damaging those kids beyond what she knows.

Broadly speaking, because it's actually kind of a small world, let's say the work I do falls under the Wall Street "umbrella".  That could include firms like AIG but, no, I don't work in insurance.

I like how Feinstein handled those kids, but she can forever go fuck herself with how she handled the Kavanaugh/Ford situation.

Acted?  That seems like how she normally is.

The surprising part is that she was offended by the question.  Probably rumors of disgust among party leaders with AOC are true, I think a combination of being loony and not having paid her dues.  Feinstein wanted to talk about HER "new deal", obviously not wanting to give any credit or support to AOC's plan.

Yes, and I’m not one to give much credit to her. She pretty much told them to fuck off. If this were Trump you would be creaming yourself.

Saw where AOC chimed in on this...basically telling Feinstein - one of the party leaders - that AOC is in charge and the establishment needs to get in line.  It's almost like she WANTS to ruin her political career before it even gets started....or maybe she's not as dumb as she acts, and this is all just about raising her profile so she can land a $500k job at CNN or MSNBC.  But good for AOC - she found a good paying gig where being smart is completely irrelevant.

“Yup. If you don’t like the #GreenNewDeal, then come up with your own ambitious, on-scale proposal to address the global climate crisis,” she said.

“Until then, we’re in charge – and you’re just shouting from the cheap seats,” she said.
