In other funny news, the guy who got his bicep blown off in Kenosha got hit by a car in a cross walk the other day.

Which reminds me - we're still seeing a wrongful death by cop every month or two, but we're not seeing the usual BLM riots.  There have been protests, sure, but tended to be more local and short-lived.  And the two recent deaths in the news were beyond brutal - 6+ officers literally beating the guy to death.

Makes one wonder how much the usual suspects have toned things down because there's a Democrat in the WH.  And/or because even Dem voters have taken notice of the uptick in violent crime.

Had to be extraordinarily brazen and/or stupid.  I can't recall a single other federal congressperson getting indicted recently.  I'm sure it's happened, but I'm not aware of another case at least in the last 30 years

Like, I don't think Dementia Joe and his crackhead son were smart or careful, but clearly meeting the burden of proof has been very difficult there.

None of that really aligns with all the indictments at the state and local level.  I think once the DC swamp rats "admit you to the club", they teach you how to graft and avoid scrutiny, much less legal liability.  The Clintons were masters at going right up to the line and not crossing it (and complete opposite of the Bidens as far as intelligence and cleverness).

Plus Menendez is expendable; the democrat NJ governor will appoint another democrat, so US senate makeup does not change.

Again, not sure why anyone would be surprised as we've often talked how most congress persons probably score highly on the sociopath scale.

But this Menendez guy is something else.  Sat there and told the media he keeps $500k in the house for "emergencies".  Not sure how he explained the gold bars.

Also heard a new defense today that I'd assume must also apply to the Bidens - tipping people on non-classified info might not be a crime.  And I'm going to assume that "pretending" to sell influence also might not be a crime.

He hired Hunter's bribery attorney as well.  Tidy.

So Dems continue to pretend this is an impeachment hearing and not an inquiry. Yes, there's no evidence for an impeachment [highly debatable] - but that's the point of having an inquiry when your investigation is stonewalled.

And they also continue to introduce evidence and anecdotes related...to Donald Trump.  I'm guessing because trying to defend and equivocate on Weatherman Hunter or Quid Pro Joe sounds bad even to them.

At least keep your gaslighting focused on the subject at hand...

On top of that Hamas was bragging that Iran gave them all the resources they needed to do this. They aren't even hiding behind "well Israel is mean to us" anymore.

Squad members need to be expelled from congress; the infiltration on college campuses is bad enough.

The only time I ever hear about squad members - and I mean the ONLY - is when right wingers get all riled up about them on Fox New or Infowars or like.  I never hear a word about them otherwise.  Similar to that nutty ass Marjorie Greene from Georgia, they are not effective legislators, not influential on a national basis.  Stop giving them the attention they plainly seek.

Well, this is just ignorance. In the true definition, not a slam.

I don’t want to bring the politics side onto the other thread, but I’ve now seen social media posts from BLM (LA), BDS (Boston), and dipshit orgs at Harvard saying things like “resistance should not be condemned”. It’s always the left, yet the same left complains about parents at school board meetings being “terrorists”.

The same side they’re defending has just been found to have beheaded babies. It’s abhorrent.

I would say that tends to be true of people like Marjorie Taylor Green, on the other side.

But AOC, at least, is regularly on the leftwing media and talk shows.  She's is very much the face of the new progressive arm of the Democratic party.

AOC has been interesting to watch.  When she first started, she sounded like she had marbles in her mouth.  I attribute that to people who are not used to lying and speaking in soundbites.  But now?  Now she's a polished bullshitter and agitator.  So she started out as a total joke, but now she's become actually dangerous because she's learned to be much more effective and persuasive.

Tlaib actually has a Palestinian flag outside her office door in the Capitol.  Frankly, there should NO flags other than the US flag in the Capitol building, much less one that, let me say it, promotes hate and violence.

I'd say the problem with that idea is that the nutjobs on both sides do have their fanbases and, because they tend to be louder and more "LOOK AT ME" than the non-squad/MAGA people, their voices can get amplified. While Twitter/X is stupid and is just getting more so, I do find it interesting that it often seems that political stuff gets deluged by the people (whether it be politicians, media-related or the handful of dipshits who view themselves as poli-influencers) who seem to embrace the more extreme right or left positions, making those voices even louder than they would be naturally.

And there are also minor things such as how the House currently has no speaker due to one of the far right nuts, Gaetz, pulling off an effective mutiny -- which kind of says these people may have a bit more influence on a national basis than you seem to think.

All in all, the "just ignore them and they'll go away" idea is something that's well past its expiration date. When you have loud people who often seem to be dangerous idiots and they have have outlets for their voices and fan clubs, you have something that should be taken seriously. Especially when some of them, you know, are in actual positions of power.

The better question is how do these idiots keep getting re-elected?  However, I've long despised the idea of the party actively seeking to primary people who don't play ball.

That said, not sure Gaetz is a great example of having "influence".  Simply the result of a unusually evenly split House that enables one or two people holding out to actually be relevant.

And that still only happens because the two parties are completely partisan.  That would never happen in a world where even a handful of reps were willing to work across the aisle.

Oh, yeah, there are a lot of factors. Also, the Ds hating McCarthy enough to let Gaetz work his chaos under the concept of "it's the Rs' problem; let them sort it out". Even if that road leads to someone they'd dislike more than McCarthy getting the job. Which ties into the partisan nature of the parties. "Who cares if we make it worse as long as we get to make our point in doing so!!!???!"

I'm still missing something in your line of thinking, but that's ok.

I actually agree with him in that the US flag should be the only flag flying, outside of an embassy. And it doesn't have anything to do with January 6th lol

How many different flags ( trump confederate etc) were in and on the Capital Building on Jan 6? Who said anything about an embassy?

You need a fucking diagram?
