If that is what the Southern District of NY is down to --- going after the payroll clerk who did not add the imputed income for personal use of a company car or a parking per diem to an employees W-2, they are egregiously abusing the taxpayer and the legal system for hyper-partisan political purposes.  Screw them.

They will never stop going after him.  Its ridiculous.  He is such a high profile person for decades, there is no way he would ever be dirty

That's what they said about Screech from Saved by the Bell before the Dirty Sanchez tape. You never can tell about people.

And there's the concept that, of all the cases one could make for/against a person, choosing "he's high profile, so he couldn't do anything wrong!!!!" might be the most amazingly stupid one. No surprise, given who it is, but still...

Took them seven years to frame Capone, who was clearly innocent, being famous and all.

I would say that the access to information that can be used as evidence  has slightly changed today

And remember the financials/taxes are where all the dirt was, and was going to be the key to unlocking the Trump criminal empire.  And they've had those records for a while, long enough to go to the Grand Jury.

I don't know enough about Grand Juries, but seems that might have been a bit excessive or unnecessary if all you're doing is charging a couple of execs for not declaring a company car.  I really can't believe that's all this is.

That was an odd Politico story.  Why write that up like a news story if the only source was Trump's lawyer?  Normally nothing is said about a grand jury, so it's difficult to imagine they got corroboration on that.

I guess if one of the targets is the CFO, maybe they charged every crime they could find hoping to flip him.

Basically using massive govt resources to harass citizens on the belief they must have knowledge of Trump crimes.  And if not, well I guess that's just their tough luck.

If Cohen didn't have the goods, I don't think they're going to find anything.  Sort of like "Why isn't Trump in jail if he owes $100M to the IRS?!?"  Because if the IRS could prove he actually owes that, they would have taken him to court years ago.  It's not just Trump's money - if the IRS were to lose that case, it would cost them billions when other taxpayers went back to exploit the same loophole.

And they went to his ex-wife to get some of the goods ..................no personal retribution there.

All they want is another headline, no matter how flimsy, no matter the means.

We need to vastly reduce the size of government before it kills us.

Removing most drug laws from the books would be a pretty good start.

TL;DR version....the writer is upset after George Floyd with all the "copaganda" on tv.  Article is mostly the sort of slop and garbage you'd expect from a rather absurd premise.

LOL, the writer practically calls for canceling Mark Harmon because of all the shows he's cranked out glorifying cops.

Are there not extremists of different kinds that are not violent? Can't being an extremist of some kinds be a good thing?

Yes there can be extremists that are not violent...they are called pacifists.

If you go by the text book definition of extremist, they cannot be a good thing. By definition, they are on the far ends of the spectrum. Whatever it may be.

If you are an extremist, you are so hard set in such a view that you cannot be changed from that view. The concept of compromise or rational thought is illogical. You only see your own view.

I would add the important variable here is where that line from moderation and rational views to extremism lines.

This is dumb and lazy I agree. A better article would look into old Cop shows and explain how it played up stereotypes and look at recent shows to see if anything has changed in the last year.

Kind of reminds me of this article I saw this morning from Vulture on a recap of the latest episode of Loki. (Don't click on it if you have not watched the episode yet)

https://www.vulture.com/article/loki-episode-4-recap-the-nexus-event.html

It is a really woke ass article that makes no sense.

Probably hit the Get Support Button...

It does have a very, rat on your neighbors vibe though.

What is your definition of extremism and then where is the line from moderation to extremism?

I would say Timothy McVey also had a extremist view on liberty....so is that not a vice?

Extremism is bad...in any direction.

I know Chicago PD has covered it fairly prominently.  As did The Rookie.  Bull had a case of a black man wrongly convicted for murder.  In general, the "dirty or corrupt" cop has been a fairly common theme in many cop shows.

So the article is founded on a demonstrably false premise.  And then quotes someone who seems to believe good & competent cops are the exception to the rule, and that reality is polar opposite to what is depicted on tv.  I guess every cop show needs to be The Shield to better reflect their perceived reality.

I wonder if the writer will do a follow-up on tv shows that didn't do enough to acknowledge Covid and mask wearing....

But you're good killing non-innocents?  Do they get a trial first, or straight to firing squad?
