The My Pillow guy started fine actually, and kudos to him for what he is doing, but then he went all cray cray:

“God gave us grace on November 8, 2016, to change the course we were on,” Lindell began, referencing the day Trump was elected president. “Taken out of our schools and lives, a nation had turned its back on God.”

“I encourage you to use this time at home to get back in the Word, read our Bibles and spend time with our families.”

“Our president gave us so much hope. Where just a few short months ago, we had the best economy, the lowest unemployment, and wages going up, it was amazing,” he continued, as Trump stood behind him expressionless. “With our great president, vice president and this administration and all the great people in this country praying daily, we will get through this and get back to a place that’s stronger and safer than ever.”

Not the time nor place for that. Save it. You are there to brief the country about what your company is doing to help, not throw praise and pitch your views. Other CEOs did not do that.

All the companies that are doing stuff is great and I hope more do step up to the plate and do more.

My company, a heavy civil construction firm, is donating all of our PPE we have in storage to local hospitals.

As someone who is not religious, I get that god/bible/jesus talk turns off a lot of people, but I don't see how that quote is really that harmful.  I guess I would have to actually watch it.  I can even see the "bad timing" argument, but considering everything I still don't think it is bad.

We have celebrities, CEOs, pundits, and anyone with a blue checkmark for the last 4 years (and currently) being hailed as heros for virtue signlaing against trump yet they haven't don't shit to actually help people.  Give me the bible thumper who is praising Trump on national television and who actually is helping people vs celebrities singing "imagine" any day of the week.

Unless the person is truly a piece of shit, I really don't see what there is to gain to bash these people for helping.

"I told you, I can't because I don't have anything to give.  Now, I'm off to yoga where I can hopefully forget your vicious accusations."

At a macro level, I do think economic inequality is problematic.  It's not because of individual entrepreneurs though.  There are a lot of factors including outsourcing a huge sector of our economy that used to provide income for the majority of the middle class.  But these are policy issues, not the result of individuals achieving.  Many CEOs are exceptions.  I've worked in the private sector for a long time at several different companies.  I believe the average CEO is not very good at his / her job.  Many are there because they are political animals.  The pay and other compensation these people receive is unjustifiable.  But their boards are usually made up of like-minded political animals.

Oh, believe it or not, I think economic inequality is problematic as well.  I'd wager that we probably disagree on the solution and perhaps even the root cause, but the problem itself is something I think we both recognize.

I actually also agree that there are plenty of CEOs who are simply not adequate for the role.  Fortunately, I think the market demonstrates that to be manageable.  If a CEO isn't worth his pay, the company often suffers.

And if the company suffers, he's the one who catches the most blame and gets sacked.

Moderates do this, but radicalized righties and lefties see moderates as the misled sheep.

Misled sheep or even sometimes a part of the opposition.  There seems to be a growing sentiment where anyone who doesn't fit within the extreme is automatically the enemy.

You see this most clearly during election time, when any vote for anyone other than the two main parties' candidates gets vilified.

Shit, in 2016, I was told that my vote was a vote for Trump and Hillary in the same day multiple times.  It just depended on who I was talking to.  I was a de facto supporter of the opposition unless I was a supporter of their cause to about their degree.

The "prayer out of schools" part was divisive (and untrue), and a call for Americans at large, both religious and irreligious, to spend time in the Word was assumptive.

Also, tying any moral value to one politician as opposed to another, at this point, is hilarious.

The guy was brought up to talk about what his company was doing to help, and instead, he used it to pop in a personal agenda.

Shoot, I even fit in the same camp as he does (religiously), but it doesn't take much to see why wrapping his moment in Christian rhetoric and tying it to a particular political agenda isn't helpful.

It appears Hungary may now be a dicatorship.

I didn't know where to put this, but I am trying not to turn the coronavirus thread into a politard fest.

Anytime someone tries to cry that the "US iS a DeMoCraCY" or gives you some form of "DeMoCrAtIc SoCiaLiSm" bullshit, use Hungary as an example.

Their democratically elected parliament just gave their PM full power to do anything in the blink of an eye including going after journalists that he deems as inaccurately reporting the coronavirus.  I don't know anything about this PM and maybe he has all the great intention in the world, but giving one man power like this is crazy, especially considering Hungary's history.

Imagine if congress voted to give this power to Trump or a democrat president.  Nobody should be ok with this, regardless if your guy/gal is the one centralizing the power.   Thankfully the US Government has several checks and balances (including that 2A some of you hate) to prevent this.

Also trying not to make the other thread political. So the Michigan and Nevada governors both blocked the drugs Trump mentioned, and then within the last week reversed course. TDS is going to kill someone.

I was wondering about this.  A lot of people are still dying, so is this drug really not effective or are people just not getting it?  I've heard about hoarding, which seems kind of unbelievable considering you need a prescription for it, unless it's existing patients for lupus/arthritis who are afraid of shortages.

I do see the usual leftwing suspects doubling-down that it's a nothingburger....because TDS.  And they might have "blood on their hands" as a result.  But I've not seen many credible testimonials that this is working - remember, 90-95% chance of recovery even if you're hospitalized with no such meds.

You don't understand that without control groups, those odds make it especially difficult to determine if a drug is effective?

If I treated 100 patients with the malaria drug, and 95 survived....then the drug could range from 0% effective to 50% effective (using my 90-95% recovery rate with no drugs).  And, of course, there are other factors - you could have 100/100 and the drug still be 0% effective.

Did CC say that a 90-95% survival rate if you're hospitalized is not very good?

You think a hospital or medical care that has 10 out of 100 people die would be good for business?

I think it's better than 11 to 100 people dying.  Don't you?

Frankly, it's not "good" for anything less than a 100% survival rate if we're using the argument you're using here.

Depends, if it's a cancer hospital, it's world class.

Robert Kraft uses Patriots plane to go to China and get 2 million N95 masks. Here’s Jemele Hill’s response: “This is where I remind people that Robert Kraft is friends with Donald Trump and gave to his campaign. It’s incredible the Kraft family is doing this, but hope they understand their money helped empower their ✌🏾friend✌🏾“.

Getting hospital staff some much-needed PPEs is a good thing, full stop.  Jemele can STFU about politics at the moment.

Really? She used to be on a bunch of shows on ESPN and made all things into a race issue. She’s been awful her entire career.
