ManO'WarI think that was sarcasm.

If you recall IC played a freshman quarterback, and most of their freshman team.
Sure they did. Their freshmen couldn't even beat our freshmen that year, now you're telling me that their freshmen beat our reserves?!?!
Anyways, I don't follow IC, so I don't know one player from another, but I do know that Big Red started/played a lot of sophomores that year...which normally would have been playing reserve ball. This is a really good senior class. -
CamomanTypical Big Red over the top fan...
I like to watch Big red play they are a class act football program, but you kill me.
The first time Big Red gets a kink in the armor the EXCUSES come out. IC reserve team beat you, yeah but we played all freshmen against IC. Apparently Reno or his coaches fielded a team that thought could beat IC ,
you think they would put a team on the field that will lose to IC? So your excuse for playing younger kids sinks like a rock. besides that Big Red team ran their butts off the next day because they lost to IC.
I talked to big red coaches about it.
Big Red lost to Inkster, Oh Macon got hurt, the refs this and that, we had kids that were hurt, you think you are the only school that has to play with adversity?
You guys would gain more respect if you just said yeah we got beat it happens, you played a good game..
Most People do not want to see big red lose, but the people who do, want it because of over the top fans.
Good luck to big red and the fans I know ,,,not the over the top fans ,, you know who you are. -
ManO'WarI never said we played younger kids....I said that we had a lot of good sophs that year, that are seniors this year, and they started or played varsity, therefore they wouldn't participate in reserve games.
If your little reasoning was accurate, then last years game should have been closer, since those kids that played in that reserve game would have been the juniors and seniors from last year, but as we all know that game wasn't close either. -
CamomanNow you are going to go the play on words route....
Like I said EXCUSES,,,,,,I was talking about a reserve game, not last year... -
ManO'War
LOL...there is YOUR quote...you said IC was playing freshmen in that game.Camoman;421266 wrote:I too was there, and I have no reason to get my hopes up, I follow all teams in the valley.

Seriously, put down the bottle this early in the day. -
CamomanDid you win that game?
You are not going to drag me down to your level and beat me with experience....
Have a good day on your horse.... -
ManO'WarFor the reasons I stated above, our reserves didn't win too many games that year, which is why I said don't get your hopes up.

This is one of the best posts' I have read all summer. "Over The Top" Big Red fans bring their team down. They don't seem to understand that. -
The Equalizer
My school has not played them for a decade and logically I know that I shouldn't go out of my way to root against them but this is the reason. Its like why i have to go the extra mile to root against OSU. Because even though the overwhelming majority of the fanbase are decent folks who love their team, the bad winners and sore losers of the vocal minority don't allow me to ever hope they have success or something to brag about.Camoman;421348 wrote:Most People do not want to see big red lose, but the people who do, want it because of over the top fans. -
ManO'WarBut yet you come onto our threads everyday...and agree with someone who made no sense.
Typical. -
Art ModellHip Hop/Logicbomb;420512 wrote:This will be my one and only response to these so called fans of Big Red football
When an athlete participates in high school football they are supposed to get something more than just wins and state titles out of it, and at Steubenville it seems to me that the only thing that they get out of it is to say that " I played at SHS". The fans and certain coaches could care less what happens to these athletes after Football is over, this can be seen most by what happens to the African American players who graduate from Big Red, they get used by the program and are not helped after football is over. Where are the Black coaches at Steubenville? Where are all the great Black athletes that go on to the next level? These athletes only get to go to local colleges that a certain coach has ties to and the reasons are that the coaches don't give a damn about their GPA while they're toting the rock and this is what denies them the ability to go to top notch or mid tier schools. And before anybody doubts anything that I'm stating I know this for a fact because I've had a son go through the system and he's shown and told me what take place at that school. So keep on winning state titles and going to the playoffs while you deny what the game is actually there for...to produce young men that will go out and be productive members of society. And I know that you play the game to win, but at what cost....Go ask former black athletes from Big Red what they think of the program and I'm sure that a MAJORITY of them will tell you that they got used!!!!
And thats all I got to say about that.
Good Post. Anyone that reads the local fish wrap will see an ex bigred player in the police blotter 3-4 times per week. -

Which proves.............................(DRUMROLL)................that many of them are from the inner city and black. WOWW!!!!!!!!
Many black males from the inner city are in trouble all over the country. But I'll bet it has nothing to do with our deformed society/ poverty/ racism/ etc. but comes back and has everything to do with SHS football. -

The excuses continue... -
Strapping Young LadFor one thing, i read the police log almost daily and can promise you that an ex-SHS football player does not appear in there 3-4times per week. So, the lies and exaggerations continue is more like it.....
So legal problems all over the country all go back to the high school football team that one played for. Tell us more, Dr. Sociology..... -
SUPER787Let's get on with some other subject. ManO'War, what's the latest on the lighting situation? Also, I thought I saw a handicap section added to the new West stands.
Cheers. -
FairwoodKingHas there been any news on who the new quarterback will be?

SYL, you are the one giving the life lessons not me. By the way, Art Modell is right. -

No doubt Al Capone will be in that section. -
skankI don't live in Steubenville, and I haven't followed this thread much, but if you expect me to believe that ex Steubenville players show up in police blotter 3-4 times per week....Well, let's just say you better try something else.

DarkonBoy I like hearing all the time that Stuebenville is cosidered an"Inner City".
It's like I live close to L.A., New York, Atlanta, Cleveland, or even Columbus.
Steubenville has such a large population. Thats why, with all of your "Open Enrollment", you are still a D3/D4 school.
Give it up. -
Strapping Young LadOkay, then just the simple fact that many of the kids live in poverty and are minority is explanation enough of why you may see some former SHS players in trouble with the law. You will see that trend in every corner of the country and though I've heard many different factors to explain it, not once have I heard of the high school football team being the cause. So maybe someone can explain why the football team is to blame over the other generally accepted ideas. Anyone?
also, you read the police blotter sure, but you won't ever see the list of kids who go to college, go to class, get good grades, then go onto get jobs etc. which I would be willing to bet is far greater than the number that end up in the police log. So, of course, you can skew the reality anyway you want when you choose to bury your head in the sand. Good luck with that.... -

It's the government that calls Steubenville an inner-city system, not me.
Harding Middle School is bulging at the seams to the point where they are forced to add two more classrooms this summer. I don't think the Steubenville City Schools are begging for more students. -
DarkonInner City
Generally the older and more urbanized area of a large city surrounding the Central Business District. The term often refers to densely populated blighted areas characterized by low-income residents and a high proportion of minority racial and ethnic groups.
I guess. If you consider Steubenville a "Large City" and "Densely Populated".
